T-Mobile just announced that they'll be launching LTE in 2013 thanks to spectrum they got in the failed AT&T takeover. They're also going to taking some of their 1900Mhz (PCS) spectrum used for GSM and using it to deploy HSPA+. LTE will be rolled out on the AWS band.

Does this mean that T-Mobile will be able to use the same LTE phones as AT&T now since they'll support HSPA+ at 1900Mhz and LTE at AWS? After 2013 Will T-Mobile still release AWS HSPA phones?

    Press release follows.

Here are my impressions of the Playbook OS 2.0 upgrade.

Until the big Playbook sales there were a couple of reasons why the Playbook didn’t sell. The biggest problem was that it wasn’t an iPad and to a lesser extent an Android tablet. I’m not trying to sound like a fan boy here but the Tablet market is going to be an up-hill battle for anyone that’s not running iOS or Android - just ask HP and Microsoft.

The other problem was that unless you had a Blackberry smartphone it lacked a built-in email client which effectively limited its audience to Blackberry owners. You don’t HAVE to own a Blackberry but you lose out on some functionality if you don’t.

Finally, the Playbook didn’t have a lot of apps available for it. Whether you use just one or two or dozens a day apps are an important part of a mobile device. Webpages are great but apps generally allow more functionality.

The fact that the Playbook is pretty fast, has a great screen, great keyboard, very good cameras, loud, stereo speakers a very elegant OS and is just overall a very solid piece of hardware gets lost because of the 3 shortcomings I mentioned. ...

Apparently 66% of people are afraid of losing their phones.

Personally I don't like losing anything that costs more than a few dollars because a) I paid for it and b) I have to go out and buy it again. Still, for me if I had to choose something to lose my phone would not be at the top of my list.

What about you? Are you afraid of losing your phone or would it be a nice excuse to buy a new one?

Over at BGR amongst other sources, they have posted pics of some apparent upcoming changes to iOS 5.1

A better camera lock screen and other languages in Siri, like Japanese, French and German have been popping up.

Great additions but not enough to get me terribly excited.
    I really hope there's more. A lot more ...

iMore shared that WinZip, that classic archiver and, well, un zipper, from yesteryear is back and available in iOS.

A handy utility that will allow you to see what's in those zip files emailed to you.
considering this app is free, I definitely recommend having it. ...

    Yikes!
Over at Mobilesyrup they've posted a Rogers Wireless bill that would easily make me run for another country!

The owner of this bill, "TheOneBabooshka" is saying Rogers acknowledges that it's a billing error on their end but we'll see how this plays out.

Google Commerce is now stating that Google Wallet, it's NFC service, is now safe for consumer use.

Yesterday afternoon, we restored the ability to issue new prepaid cards to the Wallet. In addition, we issued a fix that prevents an existing prepaid card from being re-provisioned to another user. While we’re not aware of any abuse of prepaid cards or the Wallet PIN resulting from these recent reports, we took this step as a precaution to ensure the security of our Wallet customers. If you are unable to access your previous prepaid card balance for any reason, please contact our toll-free support for assistance.

Does this restore your confidence in Google Wallet?
Did you have any to begin with, or are you like myself and going to let the NFC battle play out until there seems to be a clear path to the technology?

Our resident case guru Sabesh just finished his review of the Casemate Pop for the Galaxy Nexus:

My friend and Howard Forums member DerekToronto gifted me this case recently and I decided to review it, as I like very much! Like Derek, I like to accessorize my phones and I can never have enough cases for them. The Casemate Pop case looks quite good, but is deceivingly tough!

The first thing I noticed about the case, brought a smile to my face: The interior soft-plastic has a funky design and the words "Happiness by design". How cool is that! ...
