xv 6600 hacked or not?

How do you know that this phone or pda has been unlocked.
If it has not can someone tell me how to go about doin it? What software and other stuff I will need to perform this hack?
I just got it in the mail and don’t have service to it yet so it is still just a pda for right now the phone will be active this weekend. That is why im askin all of the questions. So I can hack it before the weekend.
