Going to be getting this phone later this week.
I'd like opinions on the phone.

I am, as you can see, also a VZW user.
I'll be leaving them as soon as my contract goes month to month.

This looks to be a pretty nice phone.
I am extremly happy that I'll have full use of Bluetooth

Also, where can I get the Style-Up covers?
I don't see them on Cingular's site.

Is the battery Li-Ion or LiPolymer?
Phonescoop says LiPolymer. Other sites say Li-Ion

Battery is a LI-Ion.

Covers you can get a Sony's site and ebay.

My wife loves her z525! Though the PTT button annoys her (has a habit of hitting the ptt button on side and the phone always asks her if she "want to use the feature", have to click NO to continue). She doesn't use PTT, and there's no way to disable the button (you can disable it while phone is closed, but not when opened). Havent found a hack to disable it either. Also, a bit hard to open w/one hand.

Bluetooth works flawlessly, RF is great! UI is great! And battery life is best I've seen in modern phones.

Thanks fe reply. Don't plan on using PTT yet. I understand that stand-by is on the order of 12 days. That I can take. I'll have to take a closer look at the SE site for a link to the covers.

Next purchase is a Bluetooth USB Dongle. Those I can find almost anyplace that deals with computer supplies

Then maybe a BT headset. Is the wired headset jack proprietary to Sony or is it a standard jack? I ask, beacuse all of the headstes I have are wired.

We don't use PTT either and that's the issue. Whenever you hit the button it places a msg on the screen stating ... "you'll incur PTT charges, do you wish to continue?" and you HAVE to hit the right soft key to answer no. Unfortunately the button is on the top left side and easy to hit. There's some threads out there about people removing the rubber part of the button which cuts down the accidental push. About the only real bad thing w/the phone.

This is a Sony, OF COURSE it's proprietary!!! It uses the same connector on the bottom that the charger goes into. No standard headphone jacks on this phone.

Bluetooth works great on this phone. I use it often to help my wife upload contacts & calendar from Outlook. She also uses a bluetooth earpiece (Jabra BT500) and says it works great.

I recently moved from ATT to Cingular on a FT Plan.

Initially I got SE z525a but didn't quiet liked it because -

1. Speaker can't be turned on while the flip is closed.
2. Cannot open with one hand
3. PTT button is annoying

Well, I got a very good deal on Samsung D807 after paying few extra $$...but I am happy with it so far...

i got this phone today and i love it

the only flaw is the ptt button is annoying but thats all i see wrong with it now.

You can find USB Dongles at most any computer/electronics store for a decent price. It can also be done using one of SE's cables.

Go to SE's site and there is a link for downloads. It'll tell you ewhat you need to do to download them

I believe that UNLESS you have PTT -Push Too Talk - on you plan, you'll be charged to use it. It may be a per use charge. I suggest going to www.cingular.com to find out exactly what the charges are. There are plans for PTT. I doubt that your current plan alows for PTT, unless you pay per use
