cing 8125 Holsters: Seidio vs DayDeal

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

While searching for a holster for my 8125, I only found two: one from Seido and one from DayDeal.

I'd like to get opinions from people who have used either of these, but primarily the one from DayDeal.

Here are the links to the holsters:

http://www.seidioonline.com/index.a...PROD&ProdID=302
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?...=12948&cat=1801

The holster from Seidio seems to be the "Premium" holster. They make holster for many other phones, so they seem to have a good track record in designing and manufacturing holsters. Their case holds the 8125 with the screen facing in, so it is better protected than the holster from DayDeal.

DayDeals holster is 1/3 the price of Seido's, and seems simpler in design. It is designed with the screen facing out. This allows the screen to be seen while in the holster. This is handy when the phone is clipped to something like a sun visor in a car. But it doesn't offer the screen protection that Seidio's holster does.

I've ordered the case from DayDeal, mostly because of the price. If it doesn't work out, I think I'll just order Seidio's holster after I get my rebate for my 8125.

Any thoughts or opinions will be appreciated.

ADD:
I did find another case that interested me...the Active Case from BoxWave
http://www.boxwave.com/products/act...r-8125_1053.htm

The case is clear plastic, and comes in two parts...one clips on the back of the 8125, and the other to the front. From the review I read, it looks like it offers better screen protection than the DayDeal clip. The reviewer liked the case, but didn't recommend using the belt clip.
I wonder if I can use the DayDeal holster together with the front of the Active Case. That way, I'd have a better swivel clip/holster, and better protection for the front and screen of my 8125.
By the way, this Active Case is 2/3 the price of the Seidio holster. Maybe I'll use the rest of my rebate on this.

Any thoughts?

I have the seidio one, absolutely love it. That other one just looks cheap.

I'm glad you started this thread cuz I'm dealing with the same issue. Just bought an 8125 and can't decide whether to continue using the supplied leather case or go for those "holsters" from Sedio or DayDeal. I also been considering the 2 part ActiveCase.

Did you find out if the ActiveCase fits inside the Seidio or the DayDeal?

Please give us an update. And how you like the holsters / cases that you have.

On Seidio's website, they describe an Active Case & Holster combination...but as of now only for the PPC 6700. I e-mailed them and asked if/when something like this would be available for the 8125, and they wouldn't say if they were going to make it for the 8125.

Also on Seidio's website (but still not for the 8125) is a a rubberized case...pretty much the shape as their Active Case. I just wish Seidio would make these for the 8125.

Overall, I'm much happier with Seidio's holster than I was with the original pouch that came with my 8125. Although the holster provides less protection than the pouch, the spring-loaded clip on the holster is more useful to me.

Did you ever get to try the DayDeal holster as well? I'm thinking about ordering it since the price is really good with free shipping.

When I ordered the holster from DayDeal, their description said that is was for the MDA and 8125. When I received the holster, it didn't fit.
I checked the desciption again, and it was revised to not include the 8125.
I ended up returning the holster.
Also, they said they didn't have anything like it for the 8125, but would check with their developer.

I ordered the Active Case just today. Will let you know how it is. I need it cause I have dropped my phone already a number of times. I have it in the leather case that it comes with but doesnt protect the whole phone like the corners. So hopefully this Active case will provent me from seriously busting up my phone when it drops. I like the daily holters but dont see that it will protect the phone in anyway if you accidently drop it or bump it into things.

Ceelo,

Sometime today I was reading up on the Active Case and a user stated that the case scratched up his 8125 because it is made up of plastic that stretches, etc.

Once you receive it let us know if it really worth it or not.

Thanks.

I'm glad you told me this cuz I was about to get one from eBay that looks just like the one DayDeal sells.

So I guess I'll stick with the stock case for now.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your Active Case when you get it. I like the all-around protection that cases like this offer. I'm still not clear if the case offers any screen protection...I just can't make it out by the pictures and the description, maybe you can clarify this.
Also, I really hate those two-piece button and clip belt belt clips. They make the device stick way too far off of my belt, and overall, just make the device feel floppy and insecure on my belt. I much prefer the spring-loaded swivel clip that is on most of the cell phone holsters that are out there.

Seidio has a good combination of case and holster.

I just have to mention it again, but Seidio not only has a version of the Active Case, but they have two other clear colors available, AND a rubberized version of the case, AND a holster designed to accomodate the device in these cases. Unfortunately, they only have these cases and holsters for the PPC 6700, not for the 8125 (yet?).

See this link:
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.a...TS&Category=843 (How do you insert images here?)

I sent them an e-mail a few weeks back asking about these cases for the 8125. Maybe I [we] should send them another request for this case for the 8125.

Sorry to wake up this thread, but just wanted to know if you received the Active Case and how you like it overall. Thanks.

Did anyone notice this aluminum Seidio?

Not exactly what the OP was talking about, but for the folks wanting protection...looks pretty stout!

So i just got the active case and its seems like a good product. It protects the phone really good. You have access to all the buttons and the slider works perfectly with no interuptions from the cover. It snaps on perfectly. it makes the phone a little bit bulkier but as far as protection wise i feel that it does the job. It would have been great if it had like a belt clip or something but it still fits in the leather case that came with the phone. Overall I give it Like I said I just put it on yesterday. If I see any issues with it over the next few days Ill let you know.

I had the active case for an e61 and it left some marks on my phone and the case never fully snapped in place so it didnt feel sturdy, dont know if this is the same for the 8125

That is exactly what I was afraid of. Another HoFo member said the same thing that it left marks on the phone (scratched it up).

I had that case on my 8125 when I first bought it. Way too bulky and the belt clip would not stay attached. I used it for about 3 weeks and then when back to the case that came with the 8125.

Yeah. I've been using the stock case too, though I am still on the lookout for something better.

Good to know Thanks!
