Zune...could it be the future of the PDA?

Recently Ive seen things about Microsoft's Zune that started me wondering. Ive noticed PDA's slow death being replaced by PDA phones, witch are expensive as you all know. The carriers subsidize these phone devices to get users paying big bucks on data this is something they didn't invent it came from the player phenomena.

Now my theory is when Microsoft enters the "pay for" market it will subsidise the Zune/PDA/phone at a real cost price not the carrier price shuffle. It sounds like a real winner to me, I get my PDA phone and Microsoft sells billions in content.

Which brings me to another point 3G doesn't/hasn't sell because there is no real content, and that's my real point because it is about to.

Zune, the music player; Zune the service; Zune, the software; Zune the lifestyle brand; Zune, the cellphone? The iPod beat Microsoft to the portable music device market by what, five years, so don't be surprised that it doesn't look like they're going to let Apple off so easily on a cellphone -- especially not while they've got a fighting chance. At a press conference today, Chris Stephenson, GM for Zune, told the press, "A Zune phone is definitely part of the future of this brand." We did definitely hear before that Microsoft was working toward setting up an MVNO, but even if that never takes off, there's no reason to believe the Zunephone won't spring to life regardless. As much as we love our HTCs, let's just hope it isn't a Windows Mobile device given a facelift -- we all know that, like PlaysForSure, the problems with adapting off-the-shelf Microsoft stuff are more than skin deep.

It's a threat to PDA's(WM5), players, iPOD's, and to cellphone manufactures if it turns out as I hope. Another MVNO maybe but MS may really indeed sell them cheap to sell music and video's. Ipod could also do the same with Linux and if they do watch out!!! the market will change.

And to top it off Ive read the Zoon may be as low as $300.00 so think about that for a second, Moto has no chance.
