How can I tell what network this blackberry 8700g is locked on? I want to sell it and want to make sure I get the right network before I put it on eBay.

I believe the only one offering the 8700g is T-Mobile... Does it have the T-Mobile printed on it? That would be your answer.

ahaahhahahhahhaha......i love the comic man.....well anyways..no it doesnt have the t-mobile logo. When i got it ..it had a dabson sim card in it. I think that is same as celluar one network.

What carrier logo appears when the device turns on? That's the carrier it's locked or was loacked too. The 8700g was originally released by TMo if it came with a Dobson SIM and starts up with a TMo logo it could be unlocked.

To check if it's actually locked or not:

1. Go into Settings
2. Choose Advanced Options
3. Choose SIM Card
4. Type MEPD (case insensitive)

If Network shows Disabled, the phone is unlocked. Else, hte phone is locked.

C'mon people. Use Google.

this blackberry has no logo on it, it did come with a debson sim card, but in that setting where u do the "MEPD", it is locked. So does that mean its locked on the debson network, which is also cellular one network? Correct?

If it works with the Dobson SIM, then yes, I'd say it's locked to Dobson.

As for unlocking solutions, check the Marketplace or Google. I believe I used Adam Roth at gsmphonesource.com for mine. He's an advertiser around here, or was at the time.
