Planning on getting one, cingular version or not.. around October 3rd or so.
I need to know these:
Reception, good as the original v3?
Sound quality?
Volume?
Has the UI changed at all or is it like the SLVR?
And if I had to get an unlocked unbranded version can I flash it and make it a cingular version?

If anything, the reception is better, but its not a huge difference.
The sound quality and volume are a huge difference from the V3, more like the SLVR now.
The UI is almost the same as the V3, but is changed up like the SLVR, because of the iTunes.
And I dont know about getting it Cingular Branded from unlocked. But I will try to find out for ya.

Thanks. Sounds like a good phone,.

theres a MP out already with the cingular stock flash and flex. but, the thing about unlocked/unbranded versions is that the iTunes is likely to be limited to 50 songs. and a reflash/flex will NOT bring it up to 100. no one has figured out how to hack the limit yet. and no, the 1000 song trick for the SLVR et al will not work on the V3i.
and if you do go this route make sure you get the iTunes version, because the firmware between iTunes and non-iTunes is different and you will not be able to put the cingular flash/flex on non-iTunes V3i's. (well it will let you, but your phone will become a paperweight).

Well actually I couldn't hack my way out of a cardboard box so I might just wait until some Cingular versions come out on ebay. I'm surprised theres not already?? Maybe no one wants to give them up..good sign??

I got an unlocked ituned v3i back in february or january and have loved it. no big reception differences from my v600, or my friends' v3/slvrs. like most mot phones i thought it was a little quiet, but the gain_table.bin hacks still work for it just fine. there are plenty of guides available for this. the ui is similar to recent motorola phones, with subtle differences, but not many. i recently flashed/flexed mine ot cingular software and it's been working fine. internet, mms, medianet, etc all work fine and quickly. it should be relatively painless to find one with a 100 itunes song limit and i have never had trouble with mine.
from my experience, it's awfully hard to kill a phone with flashing/flexing/seem editing. and i've sure tried!
so i say go for it and enjoy.
