Gnubox for N73

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: ynohtna_lude

So I've been searching around and learning about this great app called gnubox for sharing my pc internet connection to my phone.

Seems like currently there is no gnubox version for s60v3 phones nevermind specific to the N73. Anybody know if anyone will actually work on it? Are there any other options?

Posted by: PapaDocta

till now there is no other option i guess... and the developer of this application is not willing to port it at this time... at least that's what he told me...

Posted by: ynohtna_lude

hum... I guess it's just a matter of time? S60v3 is still somewhat new?

Posted by: J.Bruha

Yeah, but the developers have to be willing to port the program over. So, in this case, the only "matter of time" is if that programmer would be willing to give up the source code and give it to somebody that IS willing to port it. Shot in the dark if you ask me.

Posted by: ynohtna_lude

oh it's not even open source? I thought it was. Kinda sucks if he won't give it out to someone who wants to do it (if there exists one )

Posted by: PapaDocta

i believe it's an open source...

http://www.symbianos.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gnubox/

and here is his email to me

Quote:
Hello,

well, I don't have an n73 device unfortunately...

there are 3rd edition binaries, for the n70 and n90, you have good chances to be able to run these on your device (given that it is series60). sry i don't really know what an n73 is like...

unfortunately I currently have no spare time to create new ports. But it might not be a big deal, so feel free to download the sources and look into it.

regards,
-xan-

If or when Nokia (or symbian) produces a Symbian SDK that runs in linux.. I'd be a very busy person.

Posted by: PapaDocta

you could also run windows in a small partition of your hard drive

Posted by: tyronewheatley

come on jonny... we need another miracle....

would this help??

Code:

Posted by: multivac

Ok, the good news is I have taken source and managed to get it to build for S60 3rd Edition and have it working on my N73!

The bad news is that due to 3rd edition platform security you will needed a Symbian Signed Developed Certificate to use it as it needs WriteDeviceData capability. If you know what I am talking about and how to sign sis files, I can send you the unsigned sis.

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the gnubox maintainer?

Posted by: J.Bruha

I'm most interested in a copy? I, unfortunately don't know anything about the Symbian Signed Developer Certificate.

Posted by: multivac

Any application requiring WriteDeviceData capability cannot be self signed. I can only really suggest reading the information at https://www.symbiansigned.com for more information of the restrictions S30v3 imposes. An unsigned sis cannot be installed on the phone

Posted by: tyronewheatley

please keep us updated!!!! If you get this to work you will be a true hero to the community!!!

Posted by: PapaDocta

this is the email of the gnubox maintainer

Posted by: Kiraly

hi all, thanks for this great thread (and forum).
Some questions for multivac.
How did you test the N73 version, did you run on it? I read that also for testing purpose you have to activate (and pay) the sign process.
I'm an embedded system programmer, but I've no experience with symbian (maybe I'm going to have). Is it possibile to avoid the WriteDeviceData function (losing some functionality)?

A last question, do you think is possible to propose this project as freeware https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/p...erview/freeware and obtains from cellmania the signing process for free?

Franco.

Posted by: Kiraly

This could be a very good news.... https://blogs.forum.nokia.com/view_entry.html?id=295
.....
Some changes happening! Symbian has loosened the requirements in the Symbian Developer Certificates. Now a developer can also access ReadDeviceData, WriteDeviceData and TrustedUI without the VeriSign ACS Publisher ID for one IMEI (device).
.......

Tomorrow I'll try to get more info about.

Posted by: multivac

Symbian have indeed relaxed the rules on Developer Certificates thus making gnubox possible on S60v3 using a developer certificate. I have modified the source and tested it on my phone using a Developer Cerft locked to my IMEI. (only tested Bluetooth LAN access server)

As you say the way to make this port available to everyone without the need for them to become ‘developers’ is to submit it for signing as freeware.

I have sent my modified source back to gnubox maintainer, so we will see how we go from here

Posted by: tyronewheatley

keep up the good work... let us know how it all goes... this is pretty much the last program i been waiting for before i switch to s60v3...

thanks multivac!!!

Posted by: PapaDocta

multivac,

thanks mate for the app... the thing is the maintainer is a bit oblivious to the 3rd edition because he doesn't own a device and doesn't have the time to look at the 3rd edition SDK... but hopefully he can help in something..

thanks again mate

Posted by: tyronewheatley

any idea if this will work say like on a nokia 5500?? thats the s60v3 im looking to buy...

or will this be only for n73??

Posted by: Nabucodonosor

any updates on gnubox for s60v3??

Posted by: PapaDocta

multivac,

thank you for your help and support... i tried the app but for some reason it didn't wanna connect to the PC at all.. when go to debug and bring IF it says memory is full close some apps and try again.. tho there isn't anything running on the phone..

so did he give u the program?

Posted by: PapaDocta

yes he did.. i requested a copy from him and he was kind enough to send it to me... but you will need to generate a developer certificate and download the s60v3 SDK to sign the sis file

Not seen that error before
I wonder if your phone operator has locked it down in some way.
Is the phone operator branded?

Posted by: PapaDocta

maybe when he was creating the certificate, he forgot to add all "Application Capabilities"
on step #4

Posted by: tyronewheatley

so anyone able to get this to work??? If so what phone... Im guessing most of you are trying this on N73?

Posted by: Nabucodonosor

I've been signed and installed gnubox, but when i try to configure it, on the command: GnuBox -> Option -> Debug -> Bring Up If
the phone say: Gnubox: memory full. Try to stop any application and tray.
But aren't application loaded!

Hi

You would not normally need to use the 'Bring up IF' option. This option is normally used for phones such as 6630, 6680 or 6681 which do not have a means to select the interface to use. The way I use gnubox is create a bookmark that is set to uses the 'Bt' access point. This way when you select the bookmark the Bt interface comes up correctly. Having said this, however I have just tried bring up the interface using the 'Bring up IF' option and it appears to work ok. I am using 'LAN access server' to a linux box.

I have set up the Bt access point using the 'Basic setup instructions on Nokia for v1.1 beta'' found at http://gnubox.dnsalias.org/gnubox/

Posted by: PapaDocta

try this tutorial for setting up m-Router http://crazylittleworld.com/2006/03...kia-n70-part-2/

and use the basic setup instructions found here http://gnubox.dnsalias.org/gnubox/

dunno how but now it works for me even the bring up IF.. but i can't use the default nokia browser..

once i make sure how i done it i will post a tutorial here... just keep trying till it works

Posted by: zealousalien

this sounds all too exciting. i cannot wait to give it a try when i receive my nokia phone. what i am more enamored by is mainly the fact that everyone is willing to share and further perpetuate software!

Oh boy! I can't believe it's been 2 months since I looked at this thread.... forum in general. Been too busy to think about this stuff.

It's really great what's been developed and I applaud the community for keeping this alive! Special thanks to multivac & papadocta.

multivac - did you put a link to download or is it email by request only for now?

Many thanks!

Posted by: multivac

Hi ynohtna_lude

Ideally it would be made available at http://gnubox.dnsalias.org/gnubox/ but for now I have sent you a PM with details.

Posted by: Davescot

Could you send me details of this too please as I'd like to try this on my 3250?

Posted by: ynohtna_lude

For those of you successful, what BT stack are you using?

i want to have a copy of the program too...can someone send me the program for n73?, even if its unsigned...ill sign it by myself...thanks

Posted by: fhs04

Finally got it to work on my N73. I figured what the problem was.

earlier today I updated my software to the Music edition, and I gave it a shot now and i finally got Gnubox to run! Thanks Tripwire!

Posted by: kellemar

Could someone PM me a copy of the program too please?

Posted by: PapaDocta

all the thanks goes to multivac...

and i think the error of memory full. Try to stop any application and try again is because the gnubox app didn't assign a comport you will notice in the screen that there is a 0 next to the com port so it won't work unless u have a com port.

Posted by: borteh

Hi there

I'm new here, i was lookin' for GNUBOX for my 3250 and I found this forum.
I want a copy of program too.can anybody send it to me plz?

Wow...thanks...i cant wait to try this out...

Posted by: borteh

I tried to install but there's an error :
Certificate Error, Contact the application supplier.

I'm using Nokia 3250

Posted by: PapaDocta

borteh,

you will need to sign the gnubox with a developer certificate to get it to work..

Posted by: borteh

i donno what u mean !
do u mean that i need to compile the source with certificate ?
but u made the sis file, and if it's working it must signed with a developer certificate !
what can i do ?

Posted by: borteh

ok,
now i signed the SIS file,
first i made .CER and .KEY files with symbian MAKEKEYS.EXE with this command:

makekeys -cert -password arman -len 2048 -dname "CN=Arman Borteh OU=Development OR=AIG Ltd CO=IR EM=borteh_ava@yahoo.com" mykey.key mycert.cer

then i signed the SIS file with symbian SIGNSIS.EXE with this command:

signsis -o -s -v d:\gnubox.sis d:\gnuboxs.sis d:\mycert.cer d:\mykey.key arman

now it's signed but there's an error during installation:

REQUIRED APPLICATION ACCESS NOT GRANTED !!!

what does it mean ? what i'm going to do ?

help me plz

Posted by: multivac

Self signing using makekeys does not work as WriteDeviceData capability is required,

Get a Developer Certificate from
https://www.symbiansigned.com/DevCe...0_2006_v2.0.exe

And ensure it has at least the following capabilities

NetworkServices LocalServices WriteDeviceData

Then it should install

Posted by: borteh

i solved this problem too ! i extract the files from SIS file and created a PKG file with this content :

#{"GnuBox"},(0x097764f0),1,0,0
;Localised vendor
%{"Borteh"}
;Non-localised vendor
:"Borteh"
; Product/Platform Compatibility
; 3250 UID
[0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}
[0x200005F8], 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}

"temp\gnubox_reg.rsc"-"!:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\gnubox_reg.rsc"
"temp\gnubox.mbm"-"!:\resource\apps\gnubox.mbm"
"temp\gnubox.rsc"-"!:\resource\apps\gnubox.rsc"
"temp\gnubox.exe"-"!:\sys\bin\gnubox.exe"

then i made SIS file with s603rd sismaker and then signed the generated sis fille like this:

makekeys -cert -password arman -len 2048 -dname "CN=Arman Borteh OU=Development OR=AIG Ltd CO=IR EM=borteh_ava@yahoo.com" mykey.key mycert.cer

then signed the file like this :
signsis -o -s -v d:\gnubox.sis d:\gnuboxs.sis d:\mycert.cer d:\mykey.key arman

and another error occured:
UNABLE TO INSTALL A PROTECTED APPLICATION FROM AN UNTRUSTED SUPPLIER !

what i have to do?

Posted by: multivac

That is not going to work as you are still creating a self signing certificate.

You need to get a Developer Certificate from symbian signed. It will not work with a self created certificate.

Then just sign the supplied sis file with

signsis -o -s -v gnubox.sis gnuboxs.sisx developercert.cer developerkey.key password

Posted by: borteh

Thank you for ur solution.
But as u said i got the Symbian Developer Certificate Request application but still there's a problem!
in 2nd step at the program i have to define ACS Pub ID, ACS Private Key File and ACS Private key password to get it work !
but where can i get this files and infos ?
i build my own .key file and set the radio button ACS Pub ID Available to no and with these information i built the .csr file and uploaded it to Symbiansigned.com ... but will they send me the .key and .cer file ? or i did something wrong ?
i donno about these.plz help me

Posted by: jolin

First big thank you to multivac.
I successfully install .sis to my N73

btw using is not yet. mrouter dont recoginize toshiba bt stack gagagaga

Posted by: jolin

borteh

on Step2
If you dont have ACS pub ID , selecte No
then select your key output .key file name , and fill password.

Step3
fill Personal info

Step4
add capabilities,

Step 5
finish Developer cert request.

then .csr file will create ,where you select as output file on Step1,

login in to Symbiansigned.com, click "My Symbian Signed" tab
click "Developer Certificates" on left side bar,
click "Request" and upload .csr file and wait
will aucutomatically change to Dev cert page.
you can download dev cert.

Posted by: borteh

Is Gnubox supposed to work with Bluesoleil drivers? For all your Bluetooth needs, I suggest finding Widcomm drivers as soon as possible.

Posted by: praz

is anyone kind enough
to post step by step guide
in one full post ?

Posted by: Davescot

Is it possible for someone to upload a signed version?

Posted by: Lurzsan_07

First of all, download the unsigned gnubox file to your desktop.
Then, download the DevCertRequest at: https://www.symbiansigned.com/DevCe...0_2006_v2.0.exe
Then download the Nokia S60 SDK at (make sure u have activeperl installed too):
http://forum.nokia.com/info/sw.noki...616-3.0-mr.html
Also m-Router at:
http://developer.intuwave.com/Downl..._authorize_form

Developer Cert Request
- I assume u've signed up at their website.
- Start the DevCertRequest program
It'll be easier if u name all the files as gnubox
=Step1: Select as output file for your *.csr file
=Step2: If you dont have ACS pub ID , select No. Then select your key output *.key file name , and fill password.
ps: for Step1 and 2, have the files output to ur desktop.
=Step3: Fill Personal info
=Step4: Add capabilities (i selected all)
=Step5: Finish Developer cert request. Then *.csr file will created.
- Login in to Symbiansigned.com, click "My Symbian Signed" tab
- Click "Developer Certificates" on left side bar,
- Click "Request" and upload *.csr file and wait
- Will automatically change to Dev cert page. You can download dev cert, *.cer to the desktop

Signing The File
- Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> type command
- In the command prompt, type cd desktop (enter)
- Then type signsis -o -s -v gnubox.sis gnuboxs.sis gnubox.cer gnubox.key password (enter)
- TA-DA!! it's signed!
- use the newly generated gnuboxs.sis and install!!

Part two (gnubox & m-Router) of the tutorial coming up soon!!
P.S -> Many thanks to MultiVac and PapaDocta for the above steps!!
KUDOS

Posted by: multivac

Hi Lurzsan_07

Glad you got it to work

Thanks for posting that step-by-step guide, its just what this thread needed

Posted by: Lurzsan_07

*TUTORIAL PART 2: Gnubox & mRouter*
First of all, the bluetooth drivers that are on my WinXP Home is the Microsoft drivers.
Secondly, i'm using LAN and not dial-up ADSL.

Download and install AnalogX at: http://www.analogx.com/files/proxyi.exe
This enables you to share your internet connection.

Pls install your gnubox on ur phone first...
Install mRouter on your PC also..

ON YOUR PC (Microsoft BT stack)
Switch on BT on ur PC and ur fone.

Step1: Right click the BT icon in the system tray, "Open Bluetooth Settings"
go to "COM Ports".
If it is blank, click on "Add"-> "Incoming (device initiates the connection)"
Look at the COM number...mine is COM4. it varies...let's put it as COM#

Step2: Go to "Control Panel" -> "Phone and Modem options". Select the tab "Modem"
Add a modem. Check the box saying "Don't detect modem".
Select the type as "Communications cable between two computers"
connected on Bluetooth Serial Port COM#

Step3: Right click on the mRouter icon on the system tray go to "Connected Device"
Refresh the page until it discovers ur phone. Select your fone in the device selection
screen and click "Next>".
Uncheck the box where it says “Automatically connect to this device when it is in range”
and click "Finish"

Step4: Now right click on the m-Router taskbar icon and click on "Advanced Settings"
Click on the View button under "Additional COM Ports"
Select the COM Port used by your Bluetooth device (COM#)
After setting the COM Port, click "OK"
Under connectivity methods, look for Additional COM Ports and expand it to make
sure your COM port is there. Click "Close"
Make sure that there is no error message...
Now that our m-Router is all set, let’s configure Gnubox!!

GNUBOX!!

Step1: On the phone, Go to "Tools"->"Settings"->"Connection"->"Access points"
Go to "Options"->"New access point"->"Use default settings"
Name it 'Bt' .
Make sure you set it to use 'Data call' as the bearer.
Set the number to call to something that cannot be called (e.g 321),
username as abc, password: xyz
Leave the rest as it is...
Then, "Options"->"Advanced Setting" Leave all untouched EXCEPT "Proxy Port Number".
enter it as 6588

Step2: Start GnuBox.
Now you should see on the screen that the DialOutISP record is found,
and the phone number you just entered is printed on the screen.
However, the ModemBearer should still show 'No rec'.
- Select "Options"->"Install"->"Create records"
- Exit gnubox with "Options"->"Exit"
- Start GnuBox again.
- Now you should see on the screen that the ModemBearer is shown and the 'No rec' error is gone.
- Create the bluetooth pairing between your phone and the computer.
- Launch GnuBox. Select "Install"->"Set RAS login script"
- Then select "2box bluetooth"->"Serial port"
- On the upcoming device selection dialog, select your computer,
and in the question about encryption click Yes (or OK if you only have that).
- Launch your phone browser and enjoy!!

Posted by: Lurzsan_07

Right click on the mRouter icon, got to bluetooth settings...
search for your fone....once it's there, UNCHECK the box where it says "Automatically connect to this device when it is in range"

Then on ur movile phone, launch gnubox,go to "Options"->"Debug"->"Test comm channel".......this will take a few secs...
within this time, see whether the mRouter icon turns blue...??

Developer Cert Request
- I assume u've signed up at their website.
- Start the DevCertRequest program
It'll be easier if u name all the files as gnubox
=Step1: Select as output file for your *.csr file
=Step2: If you dont have ACS pub ID , select No. Then select your key output *.key file name , and fill password.
ps: for Step1 and 2, have the files output to ur desktop.
=Step3: Fill Personal info

- use the newly generated gnuboxs.sis and install!!

i'm using Method 4: using mRouter's internal NAT engine, but somehow m-router does not detect by BT phone. in the genral section off m-router theres a wizard guide, on the bottom off the program its got back, finish, cancel and help. from what i've learnt instead off showing finish it should be showing NEXT.

anyone know why m-router is not showing NEXT and instead showing FINISH.

well thnz too all those who had helped in the signing of gnubox.

anyone get it to work for nokia e50? or is everyone doing it on their n73?

i ve sucessfully signed and installed the app on the phone ... i ve also installed m router ...

The problem is that mrouter is detecting my mobile but it is not making connections via bluetooth

can anyone tell how to connect via usb cable ????
I'm sure that this comes in handy to all those who either have problems with their bluetooth dongle or who dont own one ...

Posted by: tyronewheatley

you should have your phone detect (your computer) mrouter.. not mrouter (your computer) detect your phone.... keep trying over bt.. i dont think it works over usb... read this thread over... it can be done..

Posted by: raulbe

Hi All, Does one necessarily have to download the sdk and the cert to get this done or can a gnubox.sis already signed by another person work on my N73?

Posted by: tyronewheatley

When the program is signed with this message it is signed with 1 phones IMEI number... So unless the person puts your phone's IMEI number it wont work...

So unfortunately for this program you will need to do it yourself!! for now at least!

Posted by: kheelo

I finally got gnubox installed on E50.
Now can someone tell me how to make it work using datacable?
Thx.

Posted by: raulbe

Ok, I am downloading the sdk, I downladed the jave sdk for symbian the first go. I followed the link and there are 4 sdks for version 3, which one should one download? 3rd edition - 262mb, 3rd edition fp1 - 355mb, 3rd edition maintenance release - 328mb,

Posted by: tyronewheatley

dood go to just go to post #88 in this thread it tells you how to do it..

Posted by: raulbe

Hi, I am been following this thread for some time and I have read post 88, that links goes to sdk for 3rd edition FP1 which is 355mb, the sdk for 3rd edition is 262mb, so which one do I need for N73, this is not specified in #88, isn't N73 3rd edition plain and not FP1?

Posted by: tyronewheatley

If you want this to work just follow the directions in post 88.... I dont know how to make this any clearer??!?!!! Its not a real hard concept......

Just follow the instructions in post #88..

Posted by: raulbe

To the previous poster please go to post 88 and tell me where you see which particular sdk specified, clearly you need different sdks for different systems, what i need to know is whether I need the sdk for FP1 or 3rd edition standard, post 88 doesn't resolve this query, nor do your posts. Do you know which one needs to be installed?

Posted by: tyronewheatley

post 88 does... when i clicked that link it was for fp1 3rd edition 355mb or so... i downloaded it and worked....

try it and see if it works??? Do i have to go to your house and do this for your or something??? come on now!!

thats all i can help... good luck hope u get it to work... LOL

Posted by: raulbe

Ok, for those without robust internet connections you may not need the entire SDK or activeperl. What you need is the SignSIS.exe app. Thats hardly 300kb as opposed to the 355mb SDK. I just tried this and it works, I have gunbox installed and working on my N73. Only I can't get mrouter to connect to the phone. I am still figuring it out. Here is the link for Signsis app.

I don't why when I connected to the internet on my phone, my m-router only connected with few seconds and then disconnected.
can anyone help?

Posted by: raulbe

mrouter doesn't work for me, i keep on getting error " The requested address is not valid in its context. Error Number: 80072741." This is quite frustrating. Any ideas?

Posted by: raulbe

Ok, I have got mrouter to work but only for a few seconds. Test comm channel from Gnubox makes it blue, but when I open the browser on my mobile phone the mrouter icon turns blue for a few secs and then becomes red again. The browser just shows connecting through Bt but there is not connection. Figuring this whole thing out is seriously non-trivial.

can anyone help?

Posted by: raulbe

Hi All, the good news is I have finally got it to work on my N73. Its taken 2 days of trial and error. I am getting PMs to help with signing, now that I have figured out how to make it work without the Nokia SDK, its shouldn't be a problem, you just need signsis and that is available in the 1.3mb file I linked to earlier as opposed to the 355mb SDK. For those of you still struggling to figure this out here it is.

Please note, this is seriously non-trivial and it may not work for all configurations. I am using a thinkpad T42P and Widcomm drivers from IBM. The native bluetooth drivers in XP SP2 didn't work for me. I am not using mrouter or a proxy server, analogx for this method. The basic thing is first get gnubox.sis working on your phone for which you need to get it signed. Then configure incoming connections in XP, then configure GNUBOX on the phone and keep your fingers crossed.

STAGE 1 - Sign GNUBOX.sis

1. First get gnubox.sis. http://rapidshare.com/files/4548686/gnubox_s60v3.sis

2. Then download this file, it has the application Signsis.exe http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...s_explained.zip

3. Get this app from Symbiansigned.com . You will need to sign up for an account here
https://www.symbiansigned.com/DevCe...0_2006_v2.0.exe

4. Follow the step by step guide by Lurzsan_07 on page 6 of this thread. Post #88 to sign gnubox.sis. You don't need to download the SDK, Activeperl or Mrouter. Use Signsis.exe from step 2 with the commands given in post #88.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...02&page=6&pp=15

STAGE 2 - Configure XP SP2

1. Follow this guide exactly with 2 exceptions:
http://web.singnet.com.sg/~kinston/...%20Internet.htm
a. When setting up the 'Bt' access point in your phone enter your dns address in the 'advanced setting' section. 'For your dns address type 'ipconfig /all' in the windows command line.'
b. In incoming connections under the tab 'Users' tick mark 'Require all users to secure their passwords and data'

Stage 3 - Success!

Troubleshooting help
http://xan.dnsalias.org/gnubox/trouble.html#Node_20

Remove native XP SP2 bluetooth drivers
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;840635

Do a google search for Widcomm drivers.

The Cert generator isn't working for me..

How are you guys creating the key file? I'm using the puttygen program.. I think this may be my problem.

I follow the steps in post 88.. i link to the key that puttygen makes, and it doesn't matter if i put in a password or not.. it still fails.

I fill out my company information, then I put in my IMEI number and add all of the items to the right hand side.

After I choose next, I get this error:

Sorry, there were problems processing your Symbian Developer Certificate Request file

I've reinstalled, i've tried different names and things and it keeps failing on me..

any ideas?

Hey, the exact same thing happened to me, that's why I used the other method mentioned in my posts a few posts above. Alternatively try to enter your dns address under ipv4 setting in the phone and see if it works. That worked for me but I'm not using mrouter, using windows incoming connection.

Posted by: Nickzeff

Hi guys. Bit of a n00b at this, but have got Gnubox/mRouter running so can access the internet on my N73 through Bluetooth.

Now... why can't I use the same access point to connect up to use streaming media etc? Would love to use that Nokia Shoutcast app or the built in realplayer, but cannot connect.

The ultimate dream for me is listening to internet radio through the phone... Guess I should have got a WIFI handset

Is this kind of thing possible, or is there some restriction thing here that means the connection can only handle http port 80 traffic etc.?!!

Posted by: raulbe

Nokia S60 Radiao and Shoutcast on the phone is working for me with Gnubox, once the connection is up. There is no reason it shouldn't, if you can access the net through the Nokia browser the radio app will work, just keep on trying, it fails to connect sometimes.

Posted by: Nickzeff

Got it connected! Am now broadcasting from a machine on my local network, and the phone is picking it up now problem. Thanks.

Out of interest - is there anything I can do to boost the bluetooth signal throughout the house? Some kind of accessory or similar?

Cheers

I am so near and yet so close on my E61.....!!!!

I get the test communication working in GNUBOX but for actual internet access from my E61 it just doesn't work. I think its something to do with the fact the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) doesn't work in my laptop.

Anybody got it fully running in E61???

welllllll, i just installed the gnubox on my n73 and i succeeded in getting a connection, just with gnubox and m-router.
I formated the phone because of a new firmware, now i can't remember the steps i did to get it work again...
the last step i did the last time was debug-bring up IF.
but now i get the error -4 "memory full" damn.

I have managed to use WAP on my N73 with GNUBOX , i am now trying to use the LIVE TV STREAMING (WAP)with GNUBOX "BT" connection. GNUBOX "BT" and WAP works perfectly,

The problem occurs when the WAP BROWSER opens REAL PLAYER (for the live streaming) , Connection Fails , i have set the connection setting in REAL PLAYER to also use the "BT" connection , the same as the WAP browser connection setting ,

What am i missing here ???

OK I will make it nice and slow....NOBODY, repeat NOBODY can send u the key. You have to do it yourself because only you know your IMEI number. Secondly you DON'T have to d/l the 355 MB SDK for that....in this very thread on page 10 you will find instructions on how to do it...

Do a google search for Widcomm drivers.

does anyone have an alternate link for Signsis.exe?

edit:

new problem, i got the gnubox.sis signed but when i try to install on my e62, it says that the certificate may be expired or my date settings may be incorrect. can anyone please help? TIA

Maybe you're trying to install it too soon, I had this problem as I tryed to install immediately after signing, but I tryed again 10mins later with success. Wait 5-10 minutes the try again.

Yes! The old guides don't seem to work on Tiger, especially 10.4.8

I followed this guide http://blog.interlinked.org/mobile/bt_sharing.html but it doesn't work, as settings for gnubox are completely different on a S60 v3 phone.

Hi,
I have Nokia N73 Music Edition, I have signed the gnubox , but when I try to install it on the mobile I get an error, FILE CORRUPT !.

Any Idea please ?

Regards

Posted by: gauravgiri

hello all,
this was the most useful thread on using gnubox on a n73 i have found till date. i recently got myself n N73 ME.

i followed all the steps including signing the sis file and installing. only trouble is that when i try to connect to Bt, the mRouter icon turns blue and windows notifies that the bluetooth device has successfully connected to the com port. but in a few seconds [5 or so] the mrouter icon turns red again and the bluetooth connection also breaks.

i know this issue has been posted here before, but does anyone know how to get about it??

many thanx in advance.

Posted by: gauravgiri

sorry i forgot to post details:
1) i'm on wondows vista
2) i have widcomm bluetooth drivers.

Posted by: tasty_boy

lol!
i have same error...
think that its impossible...
no way!

Posted by: Davescot

I have the same problem as gauravgiri. M-router icon turns blue then orange for a few seconds then back to red. I've followed the instructions on page 6. This works perfect on my 3250 but not the N73 for some reason.

Posted by: sunnyin86

Out of curiosity, why are people interested in surfing with their phone which requires a computer when they can just use the computer to surf?

The idea seems neat nevertheless.
