about the problem on disconnection after a few seconds, here's wat 'Just A Traveller' has to say here http://crazylittleworld.com/2006/03...kia-n70-part-2/

Quote:
You probably have another application/service on your PC that is already using the COM port to access the mobile phone (Applications like Control Freak, Mobile Mouse, etc do occupy the port). Please make sure that you disable the bt COM port in other applications and then try again

i don't have any other Bt application on my pc, apart from a bluetooth headset that i use with it, could that be interfering??

has anyone here got it to work on vista?? using either widcomm or the MS stack?
if so, would they please be kind enough to share the information with the rest of us.

Hi. This is my last cry for help on this as I'm about to give up on the N73. As I mentioned above I can get the m-router to connect/turn orange then disconnect again, this happens with any app I try to connect with. The thing that puzzles me most is why it's working on my 3250, I've set it up several times on the 3250 and it's always worked first time. Is the problem with the N73 or the Pc? I'm thinking the N73 as if it was a Pc prob then the 3250 wouldn't connect? I've spent hours reading various guides but it does the same no matter what. I never mentioned this before but I had it working on the N73 but I've recently upgraded Firmware, re-installed everything but it just won't work this time.

Posted by: Davescot

It's working at last.

Developer Cert Request
- I assume u've signed up at their website.
- Start the DevCertRequest program
It'll be easier if u name all the files as gnubox
=Step1: Select as output file for your *.csr file
=Step2: If you dont have ACS pub ID , select No. Then select your key output *.key file name , and fill password.
ps: for Step1 and 2, have the files output to ur desktop.
=Step3: Fill Personal info
=Step4: Add capabilities (i selected all)
=Step5: Finish Developer cert request. Then *.csr file will created.
- Login in to Symbiansigned.com, click "My Symbian Signed" tab
- Click "Developer Certificates" on left side bar,
- Click "Request" and upload *.csr file and wait
- Will automatically change to Dev cert page. You can download dev cert, *.cer to the desktop

Signing The File
- Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> type command
- In the command prompt, type cd desktop (enter)
- Then type signsis -o -s -v gnubox.sis gnuboxs.sis gnubox.cer gnubox.key password (enter)
- TA-DA!! it's signed!
- use the newly generated gnuboxs.sis and install!!

Part two (gnubox & m-Router) of the tutorial coming up soon!!

Hi guys,

I tried to use this steps for my e50. Everything was all right, but m-Route wrote: "Failed to connect to E50 / Reason: The requested address is not valid in its context. / Error Number: 80072741"
COM port is installed as "Communication cable between two computers".
PC recongnized e50 bluetooth device. AnalogX is installed on my PC, too.

When I did Step3: Right click on the mRouter icon on the system tray go to "Connected Device". Refresh the page until it discovers ur phone.
at 1-st: I can refresh only in "Bluetooth Tab" -> e50 appears but as "Not Connected", so I tried to connect my e50 by means of button "Connect" and then is that error window appeared.

What should I do or to try?

I got a problem!! I followed all the step and everything goes fine. When i m using the browser (Opera 8.65),i mean when i try to connect, this message always appear:

M-Router can't connect my already detected phone. I was doing all steps right and i dunno why can't i connect. Testing in GnuBox (with command Debug->Test comm channel) works fine.
Can anyone help me about this?
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,

I have read the whole topic and signed gnubox without a problem,
however i got a serious problem:
when i installed bluetooth dongle on my pc i killed my broadband connection(both wired and wireless). I then disabled the microsoft bluetooth stack and installed Windcomm drivers. However when i set them up it still kills the broadband connection on my PC. The only way to recover internet is system restore.
Any suggestions on how to get bluetooth working without killing the internet?

Thanks

Posted by: ray4u

okay... I have a N95.

I've done everything perfectly..signed the gnubox file , installed it , set up bt access point. I even used the other options like test connection n stuff and saw the blue icon of mrouter light up indicating the channel is working. In fact i used to use gnubox on my N70 and i followed the same procedure. But when i attempt to use the newly created access point "bt" ..or even if i set it to default and try n open something ..i get this error :

Memory full...close some apps and try again !!

Which is strange ..coz i dont have anything else other than the web browser open.Could someone please help me out on this.

Posted by: sid_n95

Hi, the problem i'm having is when i sign the app and install i get an error constrained by certificate!! I'm positive i've signed it for my IMEI!

Secondly since it didint come with .key file, which .key do i use to sign it? From where can i get it or make one?
Thanks a ton!

Posted by: ray4u

The whole procedure doesnt work for the N95 though. It used to work perfectly for my N70 and i used to surf the net via bluetooth. But on my N95 i just keep getting an out of memory error every time i try to connect via the "bt" access point.

Posted by: sunilvarma

yeah, same problem here. But I tried with Opera and it says Cannot locate remote server.

Posted by: tasty_boy

N95 has Wi-Fi feature...is really easy to connect!!

What's going on with this soft after all this time? Does it finally work with all s60v3 devices?? From what I've read in the thread it only worked with an N73, and there was a guy who got it to work with a 3250. Is it finally good? How's the speed?? Thanks!

Posted by: Begiinner

Folks,

Very interesting topic!!!! I`m new here.

I have a problem.

I did all as said in #88. gnubox_s60v3.sis is signed.

But I can`t install signed sis in my N71.

Recently found that my operator not installed VeriSign Identity-Based ACS Root for Symbian OS certificate. There is no VeriSign Identity-Based ACS Root for Symbian OS certificate in my phone.

Are there any tip or solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: lenix

i can never get this to work on an adsl dialup connection.. everything goes fine, even if i try DEBUG -> Test comm channel in gnubox.. it works perfectly... but when i run opera and choose the Bt accesspoint it gives me "error in connection".. could it be from the dns server i put in the access point ? Although i put the exact ISP DNS SERVER i get from my ipconfig really depressing, now i have a headache :P

Hi guys,
i write from Italy.
i'm trying to install gnubox on my n73,
i'm following the istruction on post #88 but i can't upload the csr file on symbiansigned web site.
In the Request DevCert page i see that:

Request DevCert
This applies to Symbian OS v9 only

Your request has failed. Reason:
Your are not enabled to request DevCerts. Please contact the system administrator.

WHY???
Can anyone give me an access on this site, so i can upload my damned csr file.
Thanks.

PS sorry for bad english

I have an Orange ADSL Modem with built-in bluetooth. Now how could I connect to my router using GnuBox and use internet on my N73.

I've the same problem. I can't request cert file.

I sent a mail but no replies yet. Does anybody have an idea what should we do now?

I own a N95. Trying to run gnubox on it.

Thanks

Posted by: TheThief

All right, i got my request enable confirmation and now going to try. Let's see what happens...

Posted by: TheThief

As you know, there's no DATA CALL in N95 just DATA BEARER & WiFi. I successfully followed and completed the instructions on post #88 on my phone. When I try connect web, with built-in browser it asks me to choose one of the access points.

There's the deal;

I see "Bt" access point with Data Call sign ( "D" ) which should not be, as I mentioned above. And when I choose that "Bt" it crashes with error like "Not enough memory, please close any other applications".

I think, somebody has to take care of this issue. I'm not an expert but a simple software can do this. I was doing great with my 3650, why not with N95 ?

How can i get the request enable confirmation?
Thanks

Posted by: TheThief

@ventu

Just drop a line to symbiansigned@symbian.com (I'm not sure, I'd better check it on their site. There's a warning regarding that)

mail subject: "Developer Certificate enable request"

Mail:

User name : your user name
First Name Last Name : first & last name
Application Name : gnubox
Application Version : v1.0
Company Name : anything (made it up)
Company Address : anything (made it up)

It took 3 days to get my enable request activated.

Good luck.

But It does not run on N95, I hope new version comes out soon.

@TheThief

ok, thanks.
i'm trying.

ps i have n73

With N95 you could use Wi-Fi to get Internet access on your phone.

To get the files access into your WLAN you could use SymSMB 2.00 from here.
I.e. use your mobile phone for wireless(!) browsing and and copying files located on computer(s).
Also you can do it the opposite way, i.e. to use computer(s) to browse, copy and execute files that are located on phone(s), in this case all phone files will be in an Explorer or any favorite file browser on your computer.
No headache with GnuBox and actually NOTHING to install on computer at all!

P.S. SymSMB 2.00 recommended for all Series 60 3rd Edition phones with WLAN, but it also can be used with Bluetooth as well as GPRS, 3G, WiMAX and so on, as this application is the transport-independent one. All it needs is the working access point. But Bluetooth access point in this case will be significantly slower.

SymSMB 2.00 thread on this forum located here.

Posted by: TheThief

Thanks for the heads up NetMen. But the problem is, getting an internet connection without any wireless access, just by connecting the phone and computer via bluetooth to internet. Anyway I got a new wireless router and have an internet connection on my N95 7/24.

Thanks anyway.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks for now!

Cant get past the gnubox modem "not found" line. When I choose BT serial it says it is all ready in use.

edit: got it working. but the browser says, can not connect.
Probably a error from the computer part? Use widcomm driver and analogX and mrouter 3.1. CLosed my firewall etc.

Also get a error -1 on bringing up IF in debug.

Using a 6120 classic.

Posted by: bootstrapbats

Somethings not working right.
Got my IF started by restart gnubox.

IF debug command says check my operator service (freely translated from Swedish)

I have set up my BT serielport, com7.
I have set up a BT modem to com7
AnalogX running
mrouter (hard to find) set up by the rulebook.

Gnubox finally write the right lines och BT accesspoint up.
Com test show 0 and 3 error, as is should. And lits up a connection on com7 on the computer.

But the IF command just dials then say check my operator service. My computer seams to not be receiving any thing.

I have check my BT modemlog in c:/windows and it seams no data transference have done.

Is it the RAS (whatever that is) the faulty one???

For now im going to recreate a record in gnubox but al the things you can think of for a solution is appreciated.

Thanks, regards Fredrik.

Posted by: bootstrapbats

This is great reinstalled my record and it up and running. Next step is to see what firewall says about this
And figure out symsmb!

Im am using a Nokia 6120 classic.

I don't think Gnubox works on the N95 8GB. I tried and tried but gave up. I could get it to connect to m-router for a few seconds but then it would disconnect. I've had it running on my 3250 and N73 so I know how to set it up, but following the same procedure on the 8Gb was unsuccessful. As for m-router I may be able to upload it for you if you want to try it.
