Hey howard, is your new, updated review of the S40 coming out soon?
Secondly, if I buy the S40 off the Siemens USA website, am I likely to get the lastest firmware?
Thanks for your help and just to let you know that your website is the most useful out there, and definately the authority on all things to do with mobiles...

howard's review should be up soon ...

and if u purchase the s40 from the siemens US site, it will most likely come with 3.2.0 firmware or newer ... since this is the one that seems to have worked out most of the bugs [and of course, introduced new ones

thanks for your quick reply... lets hope that howard's new review suggests that battery is better with new firmware as it is an fantastic looking phone... what do you think?

just otu of interest, is the sound quality on the S40 really that bad, or does it have to do more with the network you are using (voicestream in washignton DC)?
What other phone does it compare too?

I think the S40 sound quality is a lot better than Nokia 8290 and Ericsson T28w. Well, it's very subjective since everyone has different preference about sound quality.

i am living in toronto and using Fido as the provider...

i think s40 is a very good phone.. nice sound qauilty.. even if u using the handfree... it is also great..!!

i always use the s40 for my normal phone at night... somehow even better than using my home phone...

and i am using version 3.2.0... everything is improved!! the standby time is longer.. about 2 days even i always use it... (i use it over 2 hours per day...)

for my experience.. i think no matter where u bought the phone... u can also get an upgrade from US Siemens... and it will only take u one day for the upgrade... and for me.. their service is excellent!! =)
