Looks like a 8525 test unit had its ROM striped. However one can only tell if this is the exact version that will be shipping with the 8525.

The college is keeping me captive in the WAMI lab all the time lol.....thats where I have been, oh and am busy with my 3125 lol. I am still not sure if I will get the 8525....UMTS is not available here in Tampa yet. So I think I will get it once it because available.

Its a great phone...its what the MPx 220 should of been and then some. The external screen is great. The sound quality is great, not as loud as the 8125 which is expected since the 8125 has stereo speakers and the 3125 does not. The build is excellent, feels solid in the hand and is pretty snappy when opening and running programs. The camera is pretty descent, better the 2125 IMHO but not as good as the 8125 using CoolCamera. I still love my 8125 and I still use it. Its just nice to have another WM5 device to use and to take the place of the 8125 when I don't need all of its functionalty. Its a great little phone and you can't beat the price either.

Still possiable but the chances are just as likely that its not too.......its still anyones guess.

Trying to find out who/which website released it... that will give an idea about the authenticity of this ROM .. xda-developers is just a repository ..

Well that is why my first guess was a tester for the device. I would think the most likely source of a ROM for a unreleased device branded by a carrier would be from a tester that striped the ROM and repackaged it and then distrubited on the forums. Thats the most logical aproach in my eyes however...someone working for a website could of gotten from a tester or is a tester themselves. In either case its hard to speculate where it came from.

Look at the following link and see that it seems they might be waiting on a 1.31 ROM... This is probably a test ROM; however, might still be better than the current Tytn... Not sure if this means we are two weeks away or two months.

just installed the cingular 8525 rom on my tytn. when u do a reset, it showing the cingular "rasing the bar" logo and the 3G fireball. also it using the cingular themes.

Seems like the person who released the ROM wants the remain anonymous .. as per the folks on xda-developers ..

Well, guys as it stands Hermes ROMs can't be striped and repackaged. This ROM was leaked. The question remains about the source of the ROM, but "pof" from xda-developers (very reputable guy there) said it came from a person that wanted to remain anonymous. Which, I translated to mean that he knew, but did not disclose the ID.

How dose the PTT on 8525 afect the Voice Comand?

It calls the PTT app that is not available. I haven't tried yet but I am going to reassign it to MS Voice Command once I get it installed. I am working on it.....

I think the MS AS 4.5 Beta 2 is preventing me from installing MS VC 1.5. In the past when flashing a device to a new ROM, once the device was connected to AS I was able to install all my previous apps from the add/remove programs menu. This time (post AS update) the list was blank so I had to start from scratch. I reinstalled version 1.0 then tried to update to version 1.5 as normal, but no luck so far. Otherwise I think the ROM is great so far. I will update as it develops.

Ok, I think what is happening with respect to VC is this. When the Cingular Ext_ROM is allowed to run completely the VC button does not appear under the buttons menu nor can it be captured with AE Button Plus. I went too far with the installation to turn back tonight, but I may take a closer look in the coming days. If you want to try the ROM and need VC then my advice is to stop the Ext_ROM from executing and install the HTC Ext_ROM. BTW: Installing the HTC Ext_ROM on top of the Cingular Ext_ROM does not fix it.

Can you compare the Cingular ROM to the stock HTC ROM (WWE)? Any pros/cons? Limitations?

That is the plan. So far, I have determined that the Cingular ROM/Ext_ROM is a faster booting than the HTC ROM/Ext_ROM with all the same software. The major drawback thus far is that the phone froze overnight and did not alarm this morning. I may hard reset and start over but I have a busy day and will have to decide later.

I hard reset and installed the HTC Ext_ROM and the VC and video call buttons are simply not available. It would appear that the Cingular ROM excises the drivers for those buttons completely. Once the PTT software is released the voice command button will be reclainmed, but until then......Major drawback IMO. Debating, but will likely flash back to HTC ROM and try the Cingular Ext_ROM for the customizations and to see what happens to the HW buttons to be sure.

Does the HTC ROM, or any rom for that matteer besides cingular let you use the front camera to take pictures?
