700P freezing, is this common?

I just recieved my new 700p in the mail last night, and I love the features, but it seems to be freezing up. I have only noticed it when I am texting someone, and it wont let me do anything, type anything, restart, or even turn the screen off... It will stay this way for about a min or two and then just start working again. It does it maybe five or six times a day, and its starting to piss me off.

So, is there a program that I have that is freezing it up? This is what I have so far...

VolumeCare
YellowPages AOL
VeriChat
VoiceDial

I had AOL Online, but deleted it after getting VeriChat

DId you upgrade from a previous PalmOS PDA by chance?

I've had my 700p from Sprint for a couple months now and it has NEVER frozen up from me. I text message quite often. The only hack I have installed is FontSmoother (hacks managed by YAHM).

Perhaps, backup your data via HotSync and hard reset your 700p and then reload the data. Never had to do this myself since using a Palm III.

some people say that chatter email and volume care slow it down. I don"t believe that volume care does. but any way I have the same issue the best thing u can do is make sure that your messages sent and recieve don't go over a hundred cause it will slow the device down. What also slows the device down is your memory cach if you use the evdo, call log, calendar events/todo. Purging these might help might not.

I know for sure that making sure your cache is empty will help cut down on the lag.

I have the same problem with the texting. Sometimes when it freezes I will miss calls too if people are calling when its freezing. Does that happen to anyone else.

P.s. if u have on the message receipt that will slow your phone down as well. Plus mring.

How about we just list the stuff that doesnt slow it down, seems like it would be shorter

My Treo rarely ever freezes, but that's because I don't load too many programs onto it. VolumeCare shouldn't cause a problem for you. I've never tried the voicedial before so i can't say that it couldn't be your problem. But the yellowpages AOL and the Bill Minder programs tend to have some problems. I suggest you do a hardreboot to get a fresh start and install the programs one by one and spend some time with them first. Meaning install a program, then try using your treo to text, bluetooth, take and send pictures, etc. If it's good, then install the next program. Or you can try to log onto some forums and check out what the possibilities are for bad programs for the PALM OS.

I didnt even know this phone had that option.

Yeah u can go into pres in messages an look for recipts. It might already be on look for a green checkmark over your name when a message has been sent. that is your reciept confirmation.

Sorry i still dont see it

K well there is two there is one for the MMS and one for SMS.

For SMS Go to your message screen hit the menu bar button located next to your alt button.
Then go to OPTIONS then ALERTS. There under message tone there is a SHOW RECEIPT ALERTS check the box and boom u will get a check mark above your name in the chat screen.
(This only works if your phone service supports this feature and if the people u are sending the message to have the same service as u.) So... for example Verizon mobile to verizon mobile. I do not know if it works on sprint.

For MMS u do the same steps as earlier but instead of going to alerts go to prefrences. In the MESSAGE tab below it will say REQUEST RECEIPTS (MMS only). But I believe that u can send MMS to other services and get confirmation receipts if u send them to other providers.

Hope that helps?

This is on a treo 700p
