Disable Startup Sound on 3125

Is there anyway to disable the startup tone when turning the phone on? It gets incredibly annoying when you are trying to install apps and configuring and using Sprite to backup along the way.
By the way, I tried searching but there is something wrong with the site right now. When clicking the Search button, I get a picture of a frog and a message stating page does not exist.

yes. go to hklm registry and them to software and them to htc. you will see both startup and shutdown. you can either delete the wav file or place the word none in its place.
