I hope this isn't a stupid question but do all Java games work on every Java compatible phone?

Posted by: Synncere

I have heard of some games working on certain fones and not on others so I am not completely sure.

What about on the S55...found any incompatibilities yet?

games I downloaded work fine... I'm not a huge gamer... I'd rather play a game on a ps2 or xbox to be honest... I use the fone for more business purposes but the s55 does all that. Perfect for business and pleasure

Have you tried any business apps, like a financial organizer, or that fitness program?

I haven't used the exercise program but checked it out... it's basically things you can do at your desk at work to relieve stress and keep your body loose... thought it was a waste of time and not for me. I'll delete it as I slowly add more java apps to my fone. I am getting some business apps next week from a friend of mine in the UK so I will let you know how that goes. Remind me to post about it or send me a pm and I'll give ya results.

All Siemens specific games usually work on S55 (there are some exceptions...)
All Generic games usually work on S55 (some exceptions as well)

Nokia games does NOT work, because they use different class libraries.

for those of you downloading alot of java games.... do some research first on the various forums here. There are alot of sites with corrupted jar or jad files. I have talked to alot of people who think their fone is wrecked or java isn't working so they send it back but the fact is in the end it was there was a corrupted file and that is why it didn't work. Just a quick FYI for all the java heads out there

I dont think Java on the cell phone has really launched as well as the cell companies wanted them too. Reading about it, you would think its cool, but not too many people use it a lot (just for games ic) but no actual productivity apps out there, or am i blind?

In my opinion it's only going to get better. It'll grow and I'm sure in the near future all mobiles will come with Java stock. I think it may have to also do with the fone manufacturer or the s/w in the fone at times not just a bad or corrupted file... I am guessing here I could be wrong but the reason I say that is I had some issues with Java Midlets on my S100 in the beginning but all was good then. In messin around with my friends s105 none of us could load a midlet on there successfully at all.
