Sharp W-Zero 3 WS004SH WS003SH or the W-Zero 3 [es] WS007SH in America? I'd greatly appreciate the help

i dont think its usable in north america. its w-cdma i think, so its not usable here .

it's not W-CDMA. It uses PHS.

It's usable, just not as a phone.
In any case, it goes for around 30000 JPY in japan.
It doesn't have wifi, but has 640x480 VGA screen.

This would've been the perfect smart phone to have, if it had Bluetooth and Wi-fi. Does anyone know what this runs on? I've never heard of PHS, until you've mentioned it now, but how exactly does that work?

it's something the US doesn't have, it's a technology, like CDMA, GSM etc they are also technologies, but it uses PHS.

PHS uses small, light, low-range spots to deliver wireless communication, which is somehow cheaper than CDMA when it comes to tightly populated places (Wikipedia Link). On another note the data speed is pretty good but if inside a moving object the changes from one spot to another might slower the speed and lower the quality of the signal for a moment.

The WS004SH/03SH is equipped with WI-FI (the WS004SH being an updated version with as much RAM as in the WS007SH), but the WS007SH (W-Zero 3 [es]) doesn't. Therefore you can use the Windows Mobile WI-FI connectivity even abroad. I will also try if you can use a USB/SD-slot WI-FI adapter with the WS007SH in winter when I get to Japan again.

I hate Japan for leaving devices like these exclusively to Japan, I think this phone could compete in an American market with the likes of RIM, Treo, and HTC, unfortunately it's only geared towards the Japanese market.

yeah, you are absolutely right. A month ago I was in tokyo saw the 905 and the w-300 es every where. Once I saw them on a train, one of the guy was using the 905 watching baseball game and the other guy use the w-300es to write text message.... I wish I could even get the 905 dummy phone so I can play with that side-way flip screen but they are not willing to sell it....

Honestly, I'd orgasm if I had this phone, maybe we should send an E-mail to sharp on making this phone avaiable to the rest of Asia.

Doesn't help if you have it- IT DOESN'T WORK outside Japan! If it did, that would be a miracle worth posting here. (Note- that was to the poster immediately above me) Now why can't Sharp realize that there's at least SOME money to be made by selling to foreigners who want all the same phones that Japan gets? Sure, it may be a niche market, but it's still a market that may be expanded with better pricing and advertising.

Well that's what I meant man, if they made a gsm/gprs version, you don't even have to throw in edge or umts/hsdpa, it would be good enough along with bluetooth. god, i'm so sick of people pulling out their treos, blackberrys, and motorola q's thinking they're cool, if I had that phone I'd whip out and slap them with it like, "My phone's way cooler than yours "
