i just got this from the starcom site for alltel provider... maybe they finally have a fix to the syncing issue.

This .cab file from Microsoft is a fix for ActiveSync to correct sync problems between the device and PC using the USB cable.

There is indeed an ActiveSync fix available.

Quote:
From ActiveSync USB fix.doc:

This .cab file from Microsoft is a fix for ActiveSync to correct sync problems between the device and PC using the USB cable.

Instructions for using the software:
1. Download ActiveSyncMode.sa.CAB to a device.
2. Install the cab file. It will install an application under Programs directory.
2. Launch the application from the device.
3. Choose USB Serial Sync Mode, tap "OK" to save the change (power off/on the device).
4. Soft reset the device to take effect.
To get it: Go to UTStarcom's Download page and select the XV6700 in the drop-down box on the left. Get the first two files, the DOC and the Application.

I'm installing it now. Who knows what's in store . . .

It installed and caused no problems. What did this fix? I don't know...there's no telling what changes they made and there is no changelog or documentation included. But for some reason I now feel fantastic!

Just a late bump to say this fixed my issue in case anyone else stumbles across this. I just picked up a 6700 and couldn't figure out the problem. Thanks HoFo!

what was the issue to begin with? I have had no issues syncing my 6700 to my home pc..

if you are running some firewalls activesync using one method fails, using usb serial mode works - the new activesync was 'new' method (rapi? something like that) and would fail to connect on machines running many software firewalls. The 'fix' was to provide an app that let you switch to usb-serial sync mode on the 6700. It works.

o ok, i never got the point of multi firewalls...
