Any way to disable ringtone fade-in on S55?

I picked up an S55 late last week - they've just started to show up on the local market - and I'm really loving it so far, but there's one thing that keeps bugging me...

Whenever my phone rings or receives an SMS, the ringtone doesn't start at full volume. Instead, it starts completely quiet and increases through to full volume in a couple of seconds. While it's not a major issue for phone calls, it makes using a short ringtone for messages virtually useless, as they're over before they get to an audible volume.

Have other people seen this behaviour as well, and is there any way to disable it?

This is intended to protect users from hurting their ears and cannot be disabled.

If you want to get around that and you are using mmf files as ringtones then run the mmf files through the psm player and increase the voume of your ringtones. That way you can set the ringer volume on your s55 on less then full and when it rings you'll get a louder tone and no fade. That's what I did... and it works great!

With the s55 if you have the fones ring volume set on high you get the second fade or a quick vibrate. It is a security feature as F. Ruehl stated. I contacted Siemens about it the day after I got my s55 and they told me it was a security feature so if you bring the fone to your ears right away there is no loud noise to hurt the ears.

What does this Ringtone fade do anyways...explain?

when your mobile rings and you have the volume all the way up on the s55 you'll get a quick vibrate and/or the volume fades in so it's softer for a second then comes up to full
