Cingular 3125 "add a voice tag" problems (voice dial)... Anyone else??

I got my 3125 two days ago and I LOVE it!! I just started adding voice tags to my contacts so I can do voice dial, but when I try to add a voice tag I have to almost YELL in to my phone to get it to recognize it??? Then when it plays it back it's distorted (because I had to yell). I don't have to speak near as loud when I'm using the voice dial, but I still have to speak above my normal volume level. I've never had to YELL this loud or speak above my normal speaking voice on any of my other phones when setting voice tags. Is there a problem with my phone or is it with all 3125/startrks??

Is there a way to change the mic sensitivity for my voice tags?

I haven't had this problem. I do have to speak somewhat loudly, though, because I typically use TWO words for each phone number.

EG,

John Home
John Work
John Cell

If I don't speak somewhat loudly, it can't seem to pick up the correct second word much of the time.

But I'm never YELLING, and certainly not to the point of getting distortion.

Telejas, I use it and never had the problems you describe. Like Barnstormer, I ususally use two words and set it up when I'm somewhere quiet. I speak normally and get clear playback. Also used it for two months with the imate model and no problems. I haven't seen this problem mentioned anywhere else that I can remember. I suppose you might have a bad microphone or something related.

I think I figured it out?!?!? They had one at a local Cingular store on display and I tried it, and it could even pick up my voice at just above a whisper....... So I traded mine in on a new one and it worked flawlessly, UNTIL I started installing my programs!?!?!? Somewhere along the 5 or 6 programs I've installed, one (or more) is screwing with the voice tag feature.

Here's a list of what I've installed:
* TCPMP .71 (with ac3 and ffmpg plugins)
* a weather program (had for 2 or more years)
* Bluetooth Toggle (by Blindlemon......I've had for 2 or more years, may need newer version)
* rjshortcut (had for 2 or more years)

I think that's it for new programs. I've removed rjshortcut and the weather program and it actually seems a little better, but not like it was before I added the programs.

I have lots of programs on the 3125 and do not have this issue at all. Maybe I just talk loud normally so I don't notice it?

Never had this problem either using "Voice Tag" with my Imate SP5 or any other phone.

I also never experienced a problem after installing 3 party programs either.

Offtopic but ^^^^ I never understood why people install weather apps. Unless your a frequent flyer I don't see the need for it.

I had the EXACT same problems...Haven't found a solution yet, but it's the same thing...I have to yell, then it's distorted...

I'm not having the problem, but then I haven't installed any programs except the ClearVue Document viewer (which doesn't work). That reminds me . . I need to uninstall it and try to install it again.
