I want to use some 1206 smd in another project and I remember from when I installed them in my 3360 some of them had to go a certain way was this just to line up the pos. & neg pads or was there some other reason?

LED current only flows one way....so when u solder them on you have to make sure the polarity is right....the PCB should tell you which way is the anode and which way is the cathode....the LED itself should also have some indication of it....if not then measure it with a multimeter.

So on the 3360 the reason why some went a different way was to line up the pos. & neg pads then.

I think this site will tell you all you need to know for LED`s on the 3360. Most LED`s will have a dot or line to show the cathode side to make it easier.
