i have been reading this forum solidly for a week now and i know y'all don't want newbies asking the same old question but there is just too much info and some of it is old. the plethora of programs that can be used is daunting.

so here goes . . . i have a v180 for the european market that is 900/1800 mhz or 1900 mhz. i want to convert it to quad by adding 850 mhz for better reception. i get no reception in my office and other buildings or in elevators. i understand that all i have to do is 'flash' the phone.

will someone please direct me to the simplest explanation of how to do this? i have found instructions but they seem to be for different v models and designed for techies . . . not old ladies like me that are wannabe techies.

Well, you can seem edit, but that would take some editing skills, or get a quadband flex and use a FlashBackup's flash function.

There is also a ONE CLICK way using a program called Yamp. It's in spanish, but basically you hit a button "Quadband" and it does it all. I believe it works fine on a V180, but you should make bachup with FlashBackup first.

The site for Yamp can be found here: http://www.yamp.com.ar/

i think this will help you,

OPCODE to change bandwidth:
Click Menu then 048263* This open OPCODE
Enter the following code:
10*0*3 for GSM 900
10*0*4 for GSM 1800
10*0*5 for GSM 1900
10*0*6 Dual band GSM 900/1800 (European and ASIA )
10*0*7 North America GSM 850/1900.
Note:After you enter a selected code and hit ok you see Success it is done.

To any one that used PIN to lock the fone and fogot the code (4 digit) either find smartmoto to read it or use this opcode to master rest and master clear.
048263* to get to opcode

18*0
18*1
