Unlocking Vodafone/Softbank phones

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I live near Tokyo and I have a softbank phone and I plan to go back to the state s in like 2 years and I was wondering whats the best way to go about changing my phone and using it in the states. I apologize if I'm a noob.

What phone do you have? Some phones can be unlocked, some can't, and some simply don't even work outside Japan.

It really depends what phone you have if you want to take them back to the US.

Japanese phones nowadays are getting harder and harder to unlock, and you're leaving in 2 years time.... suerly the technology now would be outdated then, so you may as well pick up something then?

I have to agree. I have a V801SH and V801SA, both locked. There are people who will unlock around here, but they want $40. The only reason why I'd want it unlocked is to use WCDMA in some other country besides, as I have other perfectly good multiband GSM phones.

However, the cameras are really nice in the Japanese phones...

I gotta go with Junglist on this one, not only cause I'm a Junglist lol but cause here in the States, WCDMA is a joke compared to, umm, everywhere else, lolz. Cingy WCDMA is 1900, and T-Mo is plannin on 1700 WCDMA. No Win. The phone will do only voice and SMS.

BTW @ Junglist... heard the One Nation Clash Of The Titans yet? Nicky Blackmarket and NU-Tones sets are fire!!! And too, the whole Gridlok and Tech Itch Discographys are out, worth it!!

Posted by: Junglizt1210

Tech Itch pwns as does Gridlok.

I'm afraid I'm bad with names, but I'm always up for a good rave, gig or even the odd tune..... I haven't heard of the others you list.

You should blame the FCC on the whole W-CDMA thing. Are the two W-CDMA's in North America even compatible? i.e. unlock a phone from one carrier to use on the other and vice versa? If they aren't.... oh boy. What a waste of resources.

Nope, compatability is nil. Thats even more effective than network locking, there is no choice whatsoever other than what is offered by Cingular, and T-Mobile isnt ready yet anyway.

One Nation was a festival in the UK, live DJs with MCs, like Pendulum, Andy C, DJ Hype, etc.I f you use BitTorrent, filemp3.org has the whole set. You have to register, but i never had a problem with spam, etc from there, and the D/L speeds are amazing!

That sucks balls quite literally. I seriously don't see the issue of using two different W-CDMA technologies in North America.

Pikachu, I just bought a 803t last week. What Network are you on? Cingular or Tmo? I am on Cingular, and am having problem with my phone to stay on Cingular network. It seemes to hop around Cinggy and At&t which messes up my mms and internet capability without having to restart the phone.

btw I haven't install the software yet, so I can't really answer your question. What's bundle in the software? What benefits do I have of installing the software besides beat engine? Sorry I am a noob too.
