Ringtones for grownups?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'd like to personalize my 3125 with a unique ringtone, but I can't seem to find anything other than pop/rap/hiphop/etc. song clips to download when I search the web.

I really don't want 50 Cent to unexpectedly start playing inside of my Tumi bag during a presentation with a client's board of directors (yes, I know about silencing the ringer during meetings), but I would like a ringtone that sounds unique yet presentable in a corporate environment.

Any ideas on where to find interesting ringtones that aren't clips from other songs--especially ones played by a computer program on a Casio keyboard--would be greatly appreciated.

I use mp3 workshop to create my own. You can find it at http://myhome.iolfree.ie/~mp3workshop/

My guess is that if you search enough you will come up with something for free that suits your needs. If you are willing to shell out 20 bucks, you will find a collection under ringtones at Handango called : Business - Professional Ringtone Collection v.3.4 by a company called Direct Dance. I don't use that package so I can't comment on how good they are. I just happen to have seen it in the past.

Thanks for the tip, hbelton, but isn't this application used to capture music from CDs and convert it to the MP3 format?

I'd really like to find abstract, original ringtones that aren't (a) clips of songs from CDs, (b) synthesized versions of well-known songs, or (c) clips of people like Ice-T saying "yo playa, pick up the phone."

Basically, I want a ringtone that is uniquely identifiable as my phone's ring yet one that won't embarrass me in a business setting.

Well, I'm with what HBELTON is saying... listen to things throughout the day and when you hear something that would make a neat ring tone, use MP3 Workshop to make it into a ringer. I do the same exact thing (using GoldWave audio editor) but I always have unique, cool ringers that don't make me sound like I'm 14.

Thanks John. I've worn out Google searching for appropriate ringtones to no avail (yet). I can only guess that this is because ringtones now are a $500 million global market most likely comprised entirely of customers aged 14 to 19.

I did see the $20 business ringtone collection you mentioned, but I'm concerned that it will be disappointing given the lack of customer feedback on it.

Having a cool ringer that doesn't sound like I'm 14 is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I suppose adapting a clip of something else will have to do in the absence of a custom ringer.

I'll give this a try. Thanks, decarteret.

BTW, I'd be very interested in hearing your ringtones, if you'd care to share any of them.

Yeah, TruBlu01! Y'all share your ringers!

We corporate suits need a little flair in our lives too! It's boring trapped inside of a dark grey suit every day.

use the sound recorder on your phone to record your kids saying hi dad pick up the phone for there numbers the wife saying one thats a bit sexy for when she rings and finally get one of a woman with an authorative voice anouncing your incoming call secretary style than use tham as ring tones....

or go with classical music instead of pop or famous quotes by dead people especially Bill Hicks for unique sms tones
