No Signal On 3125 :-(

Hi,

I have a 3125 that I bought off eBay. Until and hour and a half ago, it worked perfectly...Now, it just says "Searching..." and it won't pick up anything...I tried a different SIM card from another T-Mobile phone that works and still nothing, leading me to believe it's not the network, rather the phone. I called T-Mobile customer service and went to tier 3 help and the only advice they gave me is to get a new phone...Obviously, it's not their responsibility since it's not a T-Mobile phone, even though they do have a unsupported device department.

I did a system restore and still nothing...I have an external antenna that I used with my SMT5600 and now I get a connection...upon removing the antenna, I lose signal and I'm back to square one. I went outside my house, where I get 4 bars, but nothing...With the antenna attached, it worked again...without it, no.

So it looks to me like hardware problem. Do I have to go through the seller on eBay, or will HTC help? I'd appreciate any insight...Thank you.

leave it without the battery for 24 hours and try again, otherwise return to htc

Well or you could get a friend with Cingular to RMA it for ya? It is a Cingular phone, they will just send them a new one and you put the battery and other accesories into the new one and carry on.

That may just work...Thanks...Anymore opinions?

This exact same thing happened to me today. The phone was just searching while my better half's phone had full signal. My 32bit sim was the problem. For what ever reason it stopped working in my 3125. As soon as I installed the 64bit one that was sent with it, everything worked fine. Since you got yours off of Ebay, you could try getting a new 64bit sim from a local Cingular shop.

That's interesting...I'm using T-Mobile though...I used another T-Mobile SIM, but I had the same problem...My SIM works in another T-Mobile phone.

It might just be an odd coincidence that we had the same problem as I just tried my old sim in another phone and got the searching message. Maybe my 32bit sim was on its way out. Hope you get your problem fixed.

Thanks man...Yeah, must be a coincidence...Anybody else? Also, has the "take the battery out for 24 hours" thing worked before?
