LG CU500 firmware update caused screen damage

Howdy all.

Thanks for all of you tips so far, but I have an issue to bring up. Got my New LG CU500 last sunday. Just got the mem card today, so I am ready to start messing around with it. I hopped on the foums here for tips, saw the firmware upgrade, and dled it to the phone. Note: I had no screen issues prior to firmware upgrade. I noticed a white line on the blue screen in the upper third of the screen, about 1-2 pixels tall going the width of the screen. Ah well, no biggie. The phone rebooted. The phone came back on and the line is still there. Rebooted the phone again, same thing. Took the battery out, put it back in, rebooted, same deal.

Ummm, yeah. I had a VX7000 and another LG before this, but now I am starting not to become a fan. That and the fact I am leaving the country in a few short days, this does not impress me.

So, coincidence that the new phone has a screen failure at the time up firmware upgrade, or is this a bug with the firmware itself?

Anyone else having issues? I am bringing the phone back to the store tomorrow, I will let you all know how it goes.

Later,

-Redfoot

i hate to break it to you but odds are it had nothing to do with the firmware upgrade..i dont even think thats even a possibility.

I hear what you are saying, but I find it a bit odd that the screen takes a dive the moment I initiate a new firmware upgrade. I am all but positive the store will swap the phone, but I would like to hear if anyone else has issues. Also, bad drivers has caused many a vid card to take a crap, and cell phone screens are not that far removed.

Anyone else have feedback? Oh, sidenote, how in the hell do I make the phone see music on the SD micro without using QPST?

Thanks guys!

Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: LG-CU500 Obigo/WAP2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Just swap it for another one.

Before you do another upgrade you might check to see if you don't already have ver C. Being a new phone I would be curious if it didn't have the latest version.

How do you check which version you have?

1) Type in 277634#*# That should take you to a new menu

2) Choose 1. Version Info

3) Choose 1 again. SW Version Info

Mine says CU500-MSM32701001-V10C-AUG-03-2006-CW-US

Or you can just go under Menu/Settings/Handset Information and see the same thing without going into the test menu.

My upgrade went without a hitch. Of course, I didn't see any of the problems that it supposedly fixed, but that beside the point.
I don't use PIN lock, and I only use one ringtone.
I'm fairly sure that your video glitch is coincedental but unrelated to the software update.
Return the phone and check the software version before you upgrade.
