A new OTA was released to 1000 random sidekick3 owners. It will be publically sent out on the 11th aslong as the test goes well

It fixes the battery problems.

i was one of the lucky ones..
only thing i see it fixed was battery life bug issue and that seemed to make the battery last a little longer

nothing new to report though..

not as good as the 2.3 OTA for the Sidekick 2.. but atleast is something

reception improved a little, also missed calls are shown on the keyguard screen now. That was anther bug it fixed.

what do u mean by that liek if ur key guard is on ull see the missed calls box over the picture of ur keyguard?

i got it yesterday.. 2 updates in a row... noticed a huuuge battery life change for the good...but it was weird i hd 64% battery life before the update and 23% after.. but this morning took it off the charger at 9 am.. its 215 and got 76% left and i sent atleast 50 texts so far today..

The update doesn't matter about physical location or how long you have been with the carrier, it is RANDOM. NO correlation. Just randomosity.

Just got my update... It's a bug fix, which i'm pretty excited about. it seems to fix everything annoying about the phone...

"The 3.1 OTA will resolve the following issues on the Sidekick 3:
· Incorrect battery level indicator: Customers using the Sidekick 3 may have noticed that the device sporadically displayed incorrect battery charge levels. Although the charge indicator displayed incorrectly, the device WAS charging properly, and the device performance was unaffected.
· Battery charging icon is persistent even when battery is fully charged: The OTA will detect the charge termination and stop the screen animation.
· Sometimes device does not start after being powered off with power button: The OTA will allow the device to power on properly.
· Clicking DONE in Address Book Entry (or clicking lower right Done/Save button) will not save/close an address book edit in some cases: The OTA will allow the device to save/close and address book edit.
· From Sound Profiles, some Beeps files wont flash the trackball: The OTA will allow the trackball to flash.
· Must press headset button twice to redial after busy signal stops outside of Phone Application: The OTA will ensure redialing occurs when button on headset is pushed after busy signal.
· Menu + Cancel does not remove songs from user created play list: Added the Menu + Cancel shortcut to the remove menu item in the play list editing menu.
· Media Player Songs sorts lower case songs after upper case songs: Change so that song sorting is not case sensitive.
· Can't delete multiple selections from a user defined play list: The OTA will allow deletion of multiple selections from a play list.
· Device hangs or locks up for a long time after going to sleep: The OTA correct the power management code to sleep the intended 8ms instead of 8 seconds.
· Occasionally customers would experience echo while in speakerphone mode: The OTA will reduce the microphone gain and change the echo cancellation mode.
· Change to ensure Battery Cover Removed alert is visible even during key guard notification alert: Improve visibility of SD Card icon in alert message when back cover is removed.
· There was a delay between when a call is answered and when the microphone turns on: The OTA will allow the caller to be heard upon answering the call.

I received the update awhile ago, I guess I was one of the lucky ones. The battery indicator thingy did stop. Also it was two different updates. Nothing major. I still want my Mrs. Pacman!!!

You should be able to reboot your phone until you get the update....if it's like the last major update for the SK2. Doing a hard reset, up to 20 times, should do it.

Looking at things now 1 thing I noticed the controls move a lot faster then b4 meaning if U click on a program it instantly does what its supposed to with out delay, the MP3 player is a hella of a lot louder, The browser is lightning fast like crazy, their is no more dropped signals

Aim Connects within 2 seconds I timed it, as well as yahoo & Msn

Still looking around I'll let U know what else I notice has changed

AND YES THE BATTERY LIFE HAS IMPROVED YEAAAAAAAA

you get me to believe that my phone must have a problem, as i got my updates, but i havent noticed any changes at all

Try this use your battery til its fully empty and the ! Will start flashing in the battery icon, let it charge 100% or whenever the lightning bolt stops moving and then soft reset, things should work out different I NOTICED THAT IF YOUR BATTERY IS ON LOW THE KICKS PERFORMANCE WILL BE ON THE SAME LEVEL

Because there is none. 3.0 was a major release, and 3.1 is a bug fix for 3.0. The battery life can hardly change just with a software upgrade, and maybe a radio upgrade would change your signal cut off, but it wouldn't be part of an OTA so soon after the release of 3.0...

my battery life has increased significantly... i can actually get through one day now on a charge.. without having to change the display brightness to save battery..

i woke up this morning and there it was, about 10 minutes later i got an email and the second update came right after, i don't notice anything different though, i guess time will tell.

I got 3 updates last week. The battery life on mine seems to be better. I am sort of bummed that the "search" feature in the catalog is now gone. Other than that, my SK3 is working well!

Yup...the same thing with me. I do see an improvement in the battery.
