Fullscreen Caller ID on PEBL

I have famliarized myself with some basic seem editing and skin mods. However, when I load the fullscreen caller ID skin modder it produces a very poor quality (pixelated) image. I thought maybe because it wasn't really fullscreen, just bigger, that might be the issue.

So I followed the same procedure, but before saving the skin I resized the caller ID picture box (and container) to 176x220 -- true fullscreen. It worked. Now when people call I see nothing except a fullscreen image...but it's still horribly pixelated.

I cropped and resized all these photos myself using Photoshop. Starting with high-res images and shrinking them down to exactly 176x220, so they shouldn't look pixelated because the phone shouldn't be attempting to resize the image. When I preview these pictures in the Picture Viewer on the phone and zoom to "original size" the quality is excellent.

What gives?

So no one has ever used a skin or skin mod with fullscreen caller ID photos? I've tried a number of different variations, but every time the images show up very pixelated. It looks as if the phone is trying to stretch a 44x55 pixel image to 176x220, but these images are all 176x220. It makes no sense considering the Photo Viewer can display them with great clarity.

Here is the .ski mod I am using to change my skin:

Code:
SKI1 1 478 2 31 174 51 1 479 0 0 176 220 1 480 0 0 176 220 1 481 5 31 170 51

It's just like the others included with Skinner4Moto except, as you can see, I set both the window frame size (line 480) and picture size (line 479) to 176x220, and left the name box position/size as is -- the image covers it anyway.

I'm getting really frustrated with this now...

Hmm, I think maybe the Modding subforum is a more appropriate place for this thread. Could someone move it for me? Thanks!
