The Official Mac and KRZR K1m Thread (and iSync support for KRZR K1m tutorial)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: lowglow

For those of us lucky enough to have a mac
iSync support for KRZR K1m

Usual Disclaimer...My info: Powerbook g4, Bluetooth, iSync v2.3 OS 10.4.8

In the Finder, control-click on the iSync application and choose Show Package Contents.

Drill down to the following:
Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources.

In that folder, open MetaClasses.plist in text edit or pico(make a backup first!)

add the following code. save and reopen isync.

PHP Code:
 <key>com.motorola.krzrK1mVerizon</key>
    <
dict>
        <
key>Identification</key>
        <

            <

Title edited. Let this thread become the new Mac and K1m thread, like we've had for other phones.

Great work, that was fast!

How well does it sync? I know the V3c didn't do calendaring well....how does the KRZR compare?

Posted by: thepump

Do you think this will work for 10.3 or will I just have to give it a try and find out.

Sync'd all of my contacts very fast. Calender still does not work. You can change the code above to reflect update calender True instead of false and adds the options to iSync but it still does not work.

This should work with any version of iSync...I do not have another mac to test it.

Posted by: jonchang

was it able to sync contacts with multiple phone numbers?

Yes. Worked fine for me.

Posted by: danieldelgado29

this didnt work for me! oh well!

Posted by: mlx52

Is there a specific place this needs to be pasted, each time I edit the metaclass file it comes back as not supported, and my V3c and V3i are no longer supported (Red Stops Signs)

You just follow the layout of the code. If you have an any issues just copy back the file you backed up.

I have attached my file incase someone did not make a backup.

Posted by: rscharf

Thanks for the file posting, I could not get my version to work, but yours works flawlessly. Guess I still have a lot to learn about Macs and file editing. thanks again.

Posted by: PeterKG

Thank you for posting this. I downloaded your MetaClasses.plist file, and replaced my current file with this one, but it will not pair with my phone. I'm pretty good at following instructions, but for some reason this is not working for me.

Maybe you could try adding another string for 2006?? not sure if it will help.

PHP Code:
 <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2006"+KRZRK1m</string

Here is a good site explaining how iSync "syncs" LINK

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much. Adding this string worked! It paired in iSync, and works just as it should. Again, I can't thank you enough!

Posted by: Lopes

Hi, sorry if this is a little off topic from iSync, but it is mac related....how do i get songs (in mp3 or acc) that I already have on my mac onto the phone so I can play them on it? I've tried transferring them via the transflash with an adapter in my mac, but they won't show up in the phone when i go to the music player....any ideas?

Posted by: JakeE

Here is what I added to my metawhatever:
Code:
<key>com.motorola.krzrk1mVerizon</key> <dict> <key>Identification</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key> <array> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+K1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+K1m</string> <string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+K1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+ KRZRK1m </string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+ KRZRK1m </string> </array> </dict> <key>InheritsFrom</key> <array> <string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string> </array> <key>Services</key> <array> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.model</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>ModelIcon</key> <string>KRZR.tiff</string> <key>ModelName</key> <string>K1m KRZR</string> </dict> </dict> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.synchro</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>OnlySupportASCIIChar</key> <true/> <key>deleteContactBeforeModifying</key> <true/> <key>stringEncoding</key> <string>UCS2</string> <key>supportsCalendarsSync</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> </array> </dict>

The other code wasnt working to I just looked up the V3c one, and changed everything to suit K1m.
I made my own KRZR icon, So you will have 2 choices
1 Use my icon
2 Use the RAZR icon

1.Download the following image
I am having problems uploading the image becasue imageshack converts it to png and hofo doesnt support tiffs. Anyone know where i can put it?
Put this image into the folder where the metaclasses.playlist is
2. Change the code from
Code:
<string>KRZR.tiff</string>
to
Code:
<string>MOTV3-black.tiff</string>

If you do not do either, it will mess up isync

I have tried everything you guys have posted and nothing...i guess I'm just an idiot who cant figure it out! If anyone can please be so kind and post their edited file so I can just drop it in the folder maybe that will work for me. i would really like to get this to work but I've never been so good a programming.

Posted by: JakeE

Make shure to change the icon as posted in my previous post!!!
Make shure to backup your old metaclasses
Here you go:

Posted by: BigBoimann

thanks a lot for the file, it works! But now I have another issued I get the following message after ISinc tries to sync up to the phone:

Sunday, October 8, 2006 7:34 PM
[Manny's KRZR] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "Manny's KRZR" synchronization failed

I have restarted the phone and everything...Anyone has any suggestions?

Posted by: BigBoimann

Nevermind...I got it to work...I'm a bit too fast in seekign help sometimes, but thanks for the help.

Posted by: JakeE

For those Mac users out there, I have gotten the k1m to work with bitpim via USB cable. Tomorrow I will write what I did to connect and see if ringtones work

Posted by: BigBoimann

has anyone been able to put music and ringtones into the phone via the mac, also I have a razr usb cable but all it does is light up the phone and it doesnt even recognize a new device, do we have to wait until mac & moto get together for the drivers?

Posted by: JakeE

I havn't had time lately to make a whole tutorial but here is what you need to know as far as bitpim:
Start Bitpim
Plug in your phone
Go to preferences
As phone select "other cdma"
for the port use the first one that says "usb device - vendor motorola..."
press ok and ok again
click on the filesystem
drag the bar on the right of where it says file system to make the filesystem more visible
then double click the folder "/" and wait
thats it!

Posted by: JakeE

And here is the metaclasses. You do not need to change anything in this file. Just backup your old one and drop this one in Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources

Posted by: thejokell

Thanks for the iSync tips, it seems to be working right now. Would've been a pain to enter all 200 contacts by hand.

Posted by: thejokell

Is there any way to charge the phone on my Mac's USB port? It's working on a PC I have here at work, but I don't have one at home...

Posted by: Junio.martinez@

Hello I tried pasting this on the file and adding the 2006 string and it still gives me this device is not supported by isync message...When you open metaclasses.plist file do you copy and paste this at the end or biggining of the file? or do you have to type it all in? please advice on what to do...
Thanks

It looks like a couple of lines may be missing from that code. Here is the very top of my file that works great:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>com.motorola.krzrK1mVerizon</key> <dict> <key>Identification</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key> <array> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+K1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+K1m</string> <string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+K1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+KRZRK1m</string> </array> </dict> <key>InheritsFrom</key> <array> <string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string> </array> <key>Services</key> <array> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.model</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>ModelIcon</key> <string>MOTV3-black.tiff</string> <key>ModelName</key> <string>KRZR K1M</string> </dict> </dict> </array> </dict> <key>com.motorola.C330</key> ...Truncated the rest of the file...

The icon is a v3 razr, but I don't mind that because my phone actually syncs.

this is a full mac tutorial thread, so im changing the topic.
how do i connect my phone to the mac to put video clips and music onto the phone? i have a 1gb microsd card and i wanna put the simpsons and office space on it...

Posted by: BigBoimann

JakeE - I downloaded bitpim, followed your instructions, but I get the following error message. The only difference now is that I can charge my phone via the USB cable from the Mac, before I was not able to. Any other suggestions?

Device Removal

the device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before you unplug your device, you must first select its icon in the finder and choose Eject from the File menu.

I have never seen the device populate on my desktop. its a blunder to me.

I have tried a few things, hat Device removal error does not come up any more but I still do not see the device pop up on my desktop as a removable device. I can charge the phone when I go into BitPim via the USB as i mentioned, but the program still does not recognize my phone according to the popup window.

Well am not certain I set up my phone the way is wrote the instructions. I did trial and error with the ports and phone model. The following steps are what I now do to connect to the phone once I already set it up. I first plug in the phone, wait for some sort of audio notification that the phone is plugged in. Then I click on the file system. As soon as I click the file system, the phone says charging.
The KRZR wil never show up on your desktop as a removable drive. Even if the memory card is on the phone.

Lopes: can you tell me where you are having a problem?

I'm having the same "device error" as everyone else. I set the preferences and port like you used, and then it brings up the device removal error. All i've been able to do is charge the phone.

One thing I've noticed is that if you have an iPod connectecd (via usb) while trying these steps, the ipod will also be "improperly removed" when that error message comes up. I saw it disconnecting and reconnecting in iTunes while those errors came up. So word to the wise, eject and undock your iPod while messing with this, just to be safe that you don't damage it.

Do you think this procedure is somehow cutting off then on the entire usb port system?

Posted by: BigBoimann

finally figured it out, i was playing around with the menu bar and noticed that the selection for Filesystem was not selected, once you check this it shows it. Now the question is, since i'm a noob, when the file system shows and it displays the "/" folder, is there supposed to be anything underneath it?

Posted by: JakeE

you are supposed to double click it once the phone is plugged in and your settings are set. It should take ~15 secs for the file system to appear to be patient.
-
Does the finder give you the removal error? What does it say? "the motorola device was imporperly removed" or something else? Try the other usb comm port. Make shure you are using a high power usb port. I cant think of anything else at the moment

What happens when you plug the phone in?

Posted by: BigBoimann

it just beeps, when i click on anything within the program, it switches to charging.
i have tried everything and nothing is working, any other suggestions will be gladgly appreciated. Will these issues be fixed once a driver is available for the Mac?

Posted by: JakeE

well, have the filesystem tab open when you connect the phone. Once you hear that it is connected, double click the "/" directory. Thats what I do to connect. That is all I can suggest right now.

Posted by: BigBoimann

finally got it to connect, the difference now is that I am using the second usb port that is available. Now all I need is to learn how to use it. Do you have any tips on the dos and donts under the file system? and what about the rest of the options, specially those under "Phone" are they usable?

I followed BigBoimann's lead and switched to the 001 usb port and it connected fine.

Do you have bluetooth? I was able to transfer videos over via the "Browse Device" bluetooth menu.

I recently lost my V3c
one of the things that I loved about it was that it was a Verizon phone that happen to support Bluetooth OBEX as well as DUN all on a mac. I'm now in the market for a replacement, and I'm wondering if the KRZR 1km could do all those things.

Thanks

Posted by: JakeE

I dont really remember how limited the V3c OBEX was but I can tell you what you can do with K1m and OBEX. With the bluetooth file transfer you can save and upload pictures and videos. I do not have a laptop, so I don't bother with DUN. However, I can tell you I have seen EV-DO DUN work on a laptop running OSX. Once you do the step on the tutorial on a pc, you should be able to connect on your mac.

Posted by: ken830

KRZR not only has OBEX, it supports the OPP (push) profile as well! And it not only supports DUN, you can get EVDO DUN (after the procedure in my how-to thread)! And not a single SEEM edit is needed to accomplish that. All this on a Verizon phone... Impressed?

Posted by: rscharf

JakeE

I have folowed your guide and can get my KRAZR to show the file system using BitPim, but I have not been able to do anything with it after that point. Every time I try to do a new file, I get an unexpected error message from BitPim and have to abort the operation.

Have you actually been able to transfer anything on your phone? I am trying to transfer some custom mp3 files made into ringtones that I had on my RAZR V3c. I was able to bet them into the audio folder on the phone using bluetooh, but can not get them into the ringtone folder.

Any suggestions??

Thanks for all your posting to this point, they have been most useful for a noob to the Mac.

Posted by: JakeE

I have not been able to do anything as far as ringtones. I do not believe you can do anything as far as ringtones on bitpim. I have successfully done the following on bitpim:
change the external verizon.gif
changed startup/shutdown animations
changed menu themes

Via Bluetooth I have downloaded pictures and uploaded wallpapers

Posted by: mlx52

Has anyone been able to put MP3's on the phone to use with the audio player from a Mac, Bluetooth or USB (OBEX or Bitpim)?

Posted by: thejokell

I've been able to transfer the mp3s just fine, but they wont show up anywhere on the phone...

I purchased a GSM KRZR from Dubai and tried your script, but it didn't work .
Could the phone have a different identifier that needs to be added? how can I locate the identifier?

I believe that I read on the Apple isync discussion board that you should remove the "mVerizon" from the <key> property to get it to work with the GSM K1.

I am having a similar problem. When I try to add my K1m to iSync it sees it but says it is not supported. I'm wondering if the <key> needs to be edited too since it is from Alltel (using Alltel's network) and not verizon.

I've tried "com.motorola.krzrK1m" and "com.motorola.krzrK1mAlltel" as well as the original. All with the same result. It's frustrating that others have gotten it to work, because if I can't get it to iSync then it's gotta go back for the E815.

Good luck.

Here is the link to the Apple isync discussion that talks about this:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread...threadID=681177

what exactly did you do to the themes?

Do you need to go through the EvDO-DUN process to get plain DUN over Bluetooth to work?

When I paired it to my PowerBook the Device Services available included:
Handsfree Voice Gateway, OBEX Push Transfer, OBEX File Transfer, Headset Voice Gateway.

It does not include Dial-Up Networking Gateway. When I go to Edit Serial Ports.. I see the MotorolaPhone-Dial-UpNe-1 port but unable to assign a service to it.

Has anyone had any luck using plain DUN with Bluetooth?

Posted by: JakeE

When you press the menu button on the home screen, you get menus (the gin tab, messages tab, settings tab, etc..) I have changed that part not including the red bars on top and the red bar on the bottom. There are already themes on the phone that you can change (but they suck). Change one of those and if you see any difference, you will know what I talking about. Here is the thread from the v3m/c users and it all should apply to here.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=997765

P.S. They neon theme is sick and the best I have tried yet.
P.S.2 (not the console) My krzr metaclasses will not work with the gsm k1 and I also doubt the alltel k1m. There are alot of verizon tags in my krzr metaclasses playlist. When the alltel flash comes out, and there is no update to isync, I will make an alltel version

Posted by: daedalustx

Add the below code if you have the Alltel Version:

Code:
<key>com.motorola.krzrK1mAlltel</key> <dict> <key>Identification</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key> <array> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+K1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+K1m</string> <string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+Motorola CDMA K1mm phone</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2006"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+KRZRK1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+KRZRK1m</string> </array> </dict> <key>InheritsFrom</key> <array> <string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string> </array> <key>Services</key> <array> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.model</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>ModelIcon</key> <string>MOTV3-black.tiff</string> <key>ModelName</key> <string>KRZR K1M</string> </dict> </dict> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.synchro</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>OnlySupportASCIIChar</key> <true/> <key>deleteContactBeforeModifying</key> <true/> <key>stringEncoding</key> <string>UCS2</string> <key>supportsCalendarsSync</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> </array> </dict>

Posted by: JakeE

I would change
<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<false/>
to <key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<true/>
if you would like to sync your calendar with isync

Posted by: KeilwerthSX90R

I know this is the Krzr thread, but has anyone tried looking through the file system of an LG with the Flash UI and identifying the proper files for it? My understanding is that the Flash UI just like other VZW UI is just a brew app. Therefore, it might work on the Krzr.

I have both phones if someone points me in the right direction I'll try it and see what happens.

Does this work? I need iCal to sync. Additionally... does the VZW version support contact addresses? and does iSync sync them?

Posted by: JakeE

What do you need to sync? My metaclasses file enables you to sync with the verizon k1m. The verizon interface does not support addresses.

Thanks JakeE, I confused myself with the K1 and K1M. Evidently the K1M doesnt do addresses and the K1 does. Contacts and Calender do sync with Isync with your mods right?

Posted by: JakeE

Both canlendar and contacts work with my mod

i've taken all of these steps, read all of these pages, edited my metaclasses.plist a million times, downloaded other metaclasses.plists from other people. but nothing has worked for me. my ibook wont as much as recognize my verizon k1m but it worked first time for me with my verizon/alltel-hacked v3c. any help with more steps would be GREATLY appreciated! thanks in advance!

First you need to disable EVDO.
Let me know if you can't do that...but here is the link with instructions...
http://howardforums.com/showthread....ight=enable+dun

Then you need to add the phone on your mac via bluetooth. Do this with System Prefs --> Bluetooth --> "Set Up New Device"
It should say that you can "use this phone to connect to the internet".

user name is YOURNUMBER@vzw3g.com
password is vzw
number to dial is #777

Then you need to run the script to force PAP authentication. Follow the instructions on this page:
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=794553

Then it should work.

Good luck.

Posted by: bardvern

Thanks Leaping.

I am currently not in an EVDO area and the script worked like a charm. Thanks.

I'm sure when I'm in an EVDO area I will need to disable EVDO.

Thanks again.

Thanks Jake. I now have calendars on my phone. One small problem though that I can't figure out. After I sync ical to my phone, for some reason, all the appts on my phone are 1 hour earlier than scheduled in ical. I check my time zones on the computer and they are correct in the Time/Date control panel, and in isync. Not a big deal if I know this when I am looking at my calendar on my phone, except that if I got to sync again in isync, it changes all the times on my ical to the new time an hour earlier, then if I go to sync again, it makes all the times on my phone yet another hour earlier, and it's an endless cycle that takes me to the beginning of all time. So basically I am already late for every appt that I ever have coming up.... Any idea why this would happen? I know why the cycle happens, everytime it changes the time, it is the most recent edit to sync with, but why the initial hour difference?

You must be missing a step somewhere...

1. download Jake's file here:

http://www.howardforums.com/attachm...achmentid=61211

it should uncompress itself and be located on your desktop. it may rename itself if you already have a file called MetaClasses.plist on your desktop.

2. Open your Applications folder, where iSync resides.
3. Hold down ctrl key and click once on iSync. Should open up a menu.
4. Select "Show Package Contents". You should see a window with a folder "Contents"
5. Navigate to Contents>Plugins>ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice>Contents>Plugins>PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin>Contents>Resources
6. In this Resources folder you should see a file called MetaClasses.plist or you may not if you trashed it somewhere along the way. this is where you should copy the file you downloaded from the link above. Again you may have to rename it to MetaClasses.plist if the name was changed to something like MetaClasses-1.plist
7. Make sure iSync isn't already open, if it is, quit iSync, and relaunch it.
8. In isync select add device to add the KRZR.

Now all this depends on the fact that you already have your KRZR K1m paired with your computer successfully via bluetooth which is a whole other set of instructions....

Posted by: goswim

What a bummer. I've tried everything and can't seem to get it. What are the chances that Apple and Verizon will work something out, and an update to iSync will allow this to happen without the hacks? Thanks. Also, I was wondering if maybe I've messed up the iSync file. I couldn't find the metaclasses file in the original place everyone was talking about, but found it embedded deeper in the contents. I'm wondering if anyone also knows how I can redownload iSync 2.3, and basically start from a fresh app. I'm also syncing a SLVR with Cingular, and that, of course, works so seemlessly, this is just frustrating... Verizon is a bit too restrictive.

Posted by: thejokell

It'll happen, but probably not until the next iSync release (it'll probably be in the 10.4.9 update).

whaddya mean? if it paired w/ bluetooth, this meta-thing swap wont work?

i came close once...isync saw the fone but said "cannot sync to this device"...WTF?!?!?

Posted by: JakeE

If you have an alltel one, I suggest going to the alltel forums. I believe they have a mac thread there.
P.S. make shure you are already setup your k1m with bluetooth using the bluetooth pane in system preferences

Posted by: JakeE

Ok, so here is a mini-guide to putting music on your k1m without WMP.
First I suggest putting the card in the phone fot it to build the filesystem. The card does not go in at an angle! That weird rubber piece pops out. Pull the side closest to the battery out. Slip the card in and check under the memory option in the preferences menu if its there. Then take it out, put it in the adapter and then into your card reader. Once the card appears, open it up. If there is no my_music folder create one. Then on itunes make a playlist of all the songs you want. Keep in mind the capacity of your card and keep an eye on the memory meter on the bottom. Once you are done, select all the songs and drag them into the my_music folder on the card. Thats it! Make shure the songs are in mp3, aac dont work (protected and unprotected)
I have not been able to solve the album art yet but I will try to. The phone recognizes ID3 tags, so you if your itunes library is organized, your phone will be too.

As of 10/13/06, no sign of it in the current 10.5 (Build 9A283) release, but thats not surprising.....

Posted by: JakeE

I am using a card reader with my card. I heard from a suggestion to put the card in the phone the first time you use it. I do not know if it came pre-formatted. I can read and write on my card. You can try to reformat the card to fat 16 using disk utility. That is the format my card is.

Posted by: BigBoimann

JakeE...it works, I tried it with a few songs first and it plays them, thank you! but now since i transfered more songs, it kinda hangs up the phone and does nothing, i had to pull the battery out cuz it just gave me a blank screen, then turns to the home screen and it displays no service and then goes back to service.

Anyone else have this issue, if so, how can it be corrected?

Posted by: BigBoimann

ok...i looked thru the fiels and there was a fishy looking file and i removed it and it now works...should have tried that first

Sconnoll,

Maybe you missed my alltel post back on page 4, but I'll give you the solution again. The Alltel K1m doesn't identify the same as the Verizon version. Below is the code that you need to add to your file.

daedalustx, don't forget to enable Calendar syncing to 'true' from 'false' for those who want this feature.

Posted by: JakeE

I dont know if daedalustx's metaclasses work or not but here is what got:
Code:
<key>com.motorola.krzrk1m</key> <dict> <key>Identification</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key> <array> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+k1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+k1m</string> <string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+k1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"+krzrk1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+krzrk1m</string> <string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+krzrk1m</string> </array> </dict> <key>InheritsFrom</key> <array> <string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string> </array> <key>Services</key> <array> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.model</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>ModelIcon</key> <string>MOTV3-black.tiff</string> <key>ModelName</key> <string>Krzr K1m</string> </dict> </dict> <dict> <key>ServiceName</key> <string>com.apple.synchro</string> <key>ServiceProperties</key> <dict> <key>stringEncoding</key> <string>UCS2</string> </dict> </dict> </array> </dict>

I would suggest putting the metaclasses in the right folder.

JakeE, I see the differences in yours. I would use your setup since it basically mirrors the V3c.

Thank all of you for your information and work. I just got the krzr k1m and have come a long way since I found this forum-i can sync it with isync; i can upload mp3s onto my microsd card and listen to music; i can see the filesystem thingy on bitpim.
I wonder if anyone knows if I can get p2kcommander for my mac? the official site is vague and strange and I can't seem to find it on the whole internet other than rumor.
Really what I want to do is to put my own ringers on the phone, and make the god-forsaken Verizon UI more attractive and less Verizony. Since Bitpim doesn't yet support the krzr aside from the filesystem view (which only provides error messages when I try to add stuff), I'm hoping that p2kcommander may succeed where bitpim fails. Any suggestions?

I made sure placed in correct location and even restarted Mac but still cannot get isync to recognise my KRZR K1m. NB bluetooth enabled and paired. Any suggestions?

Open the file in Textedit instead of the Plist Editor.

If you have the verizon interface, just drop my metaclasses into the correct folder. Make sure it is named properly and unzipped. If you have the alltel one, open up the metaclasses in text editor. Then chose a spot under a "</dict>" but on top of "<key>"
P.S. I have not been able to use that address book feature either

Posted by: fincher

Use OnSync for Contacts to sync with Address Book. Works like a charm.

I am looking to use the SMS feature of address book

That particular feature actually works on only a few phones. There's stuff on this very topic on Apple's discussion boards. I've tried doing it with a GSM SLVR and my V3c.

I've only gotten it to work on my SE phones with Cingular.

I cant get iCal to sync... I have

Any ideas???

Try deleting the pairing and then re-pair. I don't have a K1m yet but this is worth a try.

Here is another itunes tip to shuffle the songs on your phone if you have a bigger library than your card can handle:
Create a folder called "KRZR"
Inside it make a playlist and call it whatever you want. Ill call mine "test"
Make a smart playlist and call it whatever you want. I'll call mine "smart"
Both should be in the krzr folder.
In the "test" playlist, you can put all the songs you want to have on your phone (for an example I always want a certain gorrilaz song on my phone at all times). Right (control) click the smart playlist and click edit. Then check "limit to however much space of music you want to devote to random songs that can fit on your card. Keep in mind that "test"+"smart" must be <card capacityMB selected by random.
your first rule should be "name does not contain (empty space)".
Your second should be "playlist is not "test" (so that you dont get duplicates). 3rd "kind is mpeg audio file" (so no aac or other audio formats are in the playlist).
Click ok
then click on the folder "krzr" and select all the songs and drag them into the my_music folder. Now you have a shuffled k1m song library along with the songs that you want to have there at all times.

has anyone figured out how to use mp3's as ringtones yet?

Posted by: orlasTToy

just email the mp3 to your fone

YOURNUMBER@vzwpix.com

when you read the message on your fone...u can save it as a ringtone

(just be sure the mp3 is smaller then 350kb)

Posted by: jonchang

can someone reccomend a program to lower the bitrate of an mp3 so I can get it under the filesize limit? (it's only about 30 sec, but over 500 kb) I tried using audacity, but for some reason it won't play on the phone (it thinks the song is a split second long).

Posted by: JakeE

iTunes can be used to do that if you want. I did cause I didnt feel like finding another program. All you need to do is under the options of the song, go to stop time and make it 0:30 or change it to whatever you need. Then make shure your import settings are mp3 and at a low bit rate. Then right click the song and convert it to mp3. Then find the song you just made on your hard drive and email that. Afterward you can delete the shortened song from your computer.

thanks I tried that but had the same problem... I tried sending it to my fiancee's krzr too and the same thing happened. maybe it's the source mp3 I'm using?

I tried your suggestion, but when I get the msg on my phone it does not give me the option to save as a ringtone. I can Open it, but then I only have Reply - Forward - Save Quick Text - Lock - Add to Contacts - Message Info as options. It does not play when I open the msg either, just shows the subject and my signature with a small vertical rectangle in between. I tried attaching the mp3 and tried pasting it into the body of the msg, but always get the same results??

Any suggestions for this noob?

I would guess your mp3 file isn't encoded properly. Check the KRZR manual for supported MP3 formats.

Here's a bluetooth tidbit for the mac and KRZR K1m. Not sure what use this is as I haven't found a fix for it, but I have had 4 Motorola KRZR K1ms in the last week. Had various problems with each one and Verizon has swapped out the phone each time, but unrelated to the problems I had, when pairing the phones with my mac, two phones could not find any bluetooth services during the pairing process. The other two phones found the iSync synchronization service and the DUN service. All 4 phones were running the same version of software. Haven't figured out how to get the mac to discover all the services each time. Unfortunately for me, the 4th and current phone I am using now does not see the services. I am able to OBEX trnsfer files back and forth, I just can't sync with iSync, and can't use DUN which isn't a big deal since i don't use DUN anyway, but I'd like to be able to sync. don't know how to add that service if it doesn't detect it during the pairing process.

By the way, the problems I had with the previous 3 phones were first phone gave no voicemail notification, second phone the 2 button wouldn't work most of the time, the third phone would drop the bluetooth connection after about 5 minutes and wouldn't reconnect until the power had been cycled. The 4th phone seems to be working properly, except the lack of bluetooth services....

Posted by: sasair@mac.com

Here are a few weird things that happen when I try to sync my iCal with my KRZR K1m....

1. the times of the appts on the KRZR end up being 1 hour earlier than the times on my iCal. I have checked all the places on the mac to make sure they are in the right time zone and they are. Nowhere on the KRZR to set a time zone....

2. All the appts that sync to the KRZR transfer over with the alarm set, where none of the appts in my iCal are set to alarm at all.

Anyone else have these problems?

Posted by: fincher

If you haven't done so, you need to delete any pairing history for your previous K1m phones. This would also include the current phone if you have made any additional edits to the metaclasses.plist.

This is interesting since by default calendar syncing is disabled on the Verizon V3c and apparently it was disabled perhaps because of the issue you have with the time. That said, I do not have a problem syncing with my V3c after I edited the plist. Perhaps its an issue with the Verizon software.

I am getting a K1m in a few weeks and I will be able to test this in detail but you might want to see how Alltel Mac users are doing with it.

The better way is to load your tones onto the SD card and then try to send it (via tha phone) to an invalid number (555555). On my e815, this leaves the message in my outbox to be saved however I like. If this doesn't work, make it known. I like this new phone and it may replace my e815 when the time comes.

Tried loading my mp3 ringtones onto the memory card and then sending them to a bad number 555-5555, but that did not work either. There are no options to save the message to anywhere on the phone.

I know the mp3 files are the right size and encoded properly, because they worked just fine on my V3c.

Guess I should just be glad the sync is working properly and that I can get music onto the phone by loading it onto the card first?

Just that when you have all the possibilities, I like to see if I can actually get them to work.

How do you delete the pairing history??

Also, any idea how to set this up for a SPRINT K1m??? I have over 250 contacts and I will return the phone if I have to enter them manually....

Thanks

Delete pairing:
System Preferences>Bluetooth>Devices

Not sure about the K1m but you'll need to edit the metaclasses.plist (info found on HoFo). But, its likely it will work great with OnSync, the shareware program. Google it. I use both iSync and OnSync.

I tried doing a little bit of searching to see if there was a way to charge a RAZR via USB while using OS X, but I can't seem to find anything. Is there a way to get the K1m charging in OS X?

If you have BitPim running it will charge over USB.

Posted by: potzer

So everything was working fine between iSync and my Verizon KRZR after I edited the MetaClasses file. I was gone over the past week and when I came home I discovered that I can't sync the damn phone anymore. WTF is going on with this thing? I deleted the device from iSync and deleted the Bluetooth pairing. Re-paired fine. When I try to re-add it to iSync it says "iSync cannot connect to this device." Hey, Apple! When do we get an update for iSync to support our very popular phone which has been out for over a month now? Chop chop!

Change the ID string in the plist file to:

<string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+Motorola K1m-Sprint Phone</string>

I figured this out using getbtstring.sh from http://www.miguelito.org/mig-archives/000275.html

After making this change, calendar and contact syncing works perfectly for me.

You can try audacity. its free and super easy.

Side note. So I can browse my Km1 vie bluetooth. But if I add a video or MP3 to the right folder, i get nothing. I can add a jpg and it shows up on the phone, but not audio or video files.

Any general ideas or fixes yet?

Ok. I am new to this. My old phone (Motorola v710) was much simpler. Can anyone recommend a proper data cable for my KRZR K1m? Appropriate software too? I am so frustrated that I can't get this thing to see my music I put on the TransFlash card. I can't get my sounds to save as ringtones either. (I'm on a MacBook Pro.) Please help if u can! Wirelessly posted (MOT-24.1_/00.62 UP.Browser/6.2.3.4.c.1.117 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

Music goes in a dif ferent folder than the v71 and you need to run windows to get free ringtones

All you need is 5 pin USB cable. Like from a digital camera or something.

Software is out right now. Bitpim works for some not others. I can browse my phone via Bluetooth, and can add or remove pics & videos, but not music or ringers. Anything I add doesnt show up on the phone.

Hi. I just got Verizon in late October, with a RAZR V3m. It doesn't do any of the good things my Cingular RAZR was doing, such as bluetooth file transfer and showing my personal desktop picture in the little display window on the front of the closed phone. I was pleased to be reading a very long large Howard Forums thread called 'the Official Mac and RAZR V3 thread" or something like that, it was very informative, and it was just getting up to the point where my phone model was coming out and being mentioned, but then the moderators closed the thread because it was too big.

Can someone tell me if the info iin this K RAZR thread would be relevant to my RAZR 3m phone?

the now closed thread was very active and i was hoping someone would start a new one but a search did not turn one up, maybe i missed it--or maybe this thread would be just as useful for my phone, but reading these posts is time consuming and i'd like to know whether it is relevant to my phone or not.

I would just like to use a USB cable (if bluetooth is too much to ask) to transfer files, at least picture files, and hopefully music files, but defintely photos. Is there any way of doing this without hacking the phone and voiding the warranty? i have equipment insurance, i dont' want to be paying for it for nothing.

I have a powerbook G4 1.5Gz and a verizon motorola RAZR V3m

Has anyone tried BitPim 0908 with their Krazr? When I tried it, it would no longer work with the KRAZR K1m.

0907 worked, recognized the phone as other CDMA, but could not really transfer anything with it. I was hoping 0908 would actually let us transfer something like ringtone MP3 files, but it won't even recognize my K1m.

Anyone else tried it?

Made the changes in iSync file.. phone showed up with ability to sync iCal and phonebook..

Disabled phonebook.

Synced iCal.. it stopped partway after trying to receive info from the phone..

So I set the pref in iSync to sync 1 way-- computer to phone.

Synced again and it worked.

Made a change on the phone's calendar and synced, and it takes *forever*-- about .6K/sec and then around 25K, it times out, i presume, and says it lost the connection to the phone and nothing is synced.

For those that have this phone and use iCal and iSync, please share your experiences. Thanks!

Posted by: fincher

I got a K1m (USCC version/Moto UI) for one of my lines. iCal works great. Syncing Contacts only works computer to phone but I guess I will try changing the prefs to see if it works both ways.

Posted by: fincher

Got it. It syncs either way.

Posted by: pfd251

Can someone with a working iSync and Alltel version post their entire plist for us? PLEASE!

I had it working, showing the black razr icon, but I had to get my hard drive repleaced and lost my working file. I can't remember what I did or how I got it working. I have tried verything on here with no luck.

Thanks!

Posted by: JakeE

I would also like to get the syncing with alltel working. I now have my K1m with the Moto Interface and it does not sync. I have tried finchers metaclasses entry that he posted on the USCC forum but it does not work. I have akels tried some of my own metaclasses entries but have so far been unsuccessful. Does anyone have the K1m and the motorola UI and have sync working on isync?

Posted by: JakeE

I got it working. I found this blog post: http://www.karyhead.com/2006/12/19/...-k1m-and-isync/
(funny, it actaully points back to this thread). I downloaded his metaclasses and copied the krzr entry and it did not work. I figured, maybe I should just copy the whole thing in. So I took his metaclasses and put it into the proper folder rather than just adding the entry by itself. That did the trick. He also included a a K1m icon which looks a little better then the one i made. Maybe it was not working becasue I messed around too much with my metaclasses file. Anyway, one small thing. Canlendars are disabled in his code so to enable it, change
<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<false/>
to
<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<true/>

Posted by: JakeE

Calendar is only going one way if you enable it (phone-->computer)
fincher, how did you fix this?

EDIT: never mind, you have to clode ical and the calendar on the phone while syncing

Posted by: pfd251

Never mind. I bought a new Bluetooth adapter and everything works great now. I used the metaclass list from page 1 of this thread and the added the Alltel script from page 4. I did try the Karyhead website and got the K1m picture. I never found out if the metaclass worked due to my bad Bluetooth adapter. I changed the calendar sync to true and the picture to the K1m and it works perfectly now.

Posted by: fincher

Jake, glad you got it working. While I had no problems with the K1m, I've had a lot of trouble with getting the DUN profile to stick with iSync and the V3m. Its comes and goes. Not sure if its an Apple or Moto issue...or both.

The 10.4.9 Update is supposed to have an iSync update. Maybe that will help.

My KRZR is syncing fine but my wife's RAZR will not work at all. I deleted it from bluetooth and connected it again but it still will not work. I added a 2006 and 2007 string but no luck. Even went back to the old plist w/out the KRZR and still nothing.

Please help!!!!

Adding 2006 or 2007 shouldn't matter.

Here's how I got it working. Its silly but it works and identifies the issue with the BT stack on the V3m, specifically the DUN profile. Obviously, delete the pairing on the your Mac and on your phone.

Before I attempt to sync, I enable a paired BT headset and then disconnect the headset. Then, I use iSync and it works every time now. Its the DUN profile that's flaky.

Be patient. I spent probably 8-9 hours over the past week trying to make it work and zero in on a specific workaround.

What adapter did you use, I can not get the phone to sync no matter what I do.

I deleted the pairing. Powercycled the computer and phone. Paired them and powercycled. now it works again. I have to powercycle the V3m sometimes for it to work with isync.

I made a red razr icon and I will try to post it if any one wants it.

Here it is just save as .tiff and change the plist script for the silver motv3 to red.

I have a Verizon K1m flashed with the Alltel monster (and therefore running Moto UI), all data and iSync are working properly.

Here's my MetaClasses file.

Posted by: rscharf

May i ask where you got the info to flash your Verizon K1m to Alltel? I understand it works much better than the Verizon UI.

i would love to ditch the verizon UI. it is such crap. I love motos & my e815 was 10x better than my krzr.

Check out this thread

The various guides are all referenced in there.

Ya'll can keep the KRAZR< RAZR etc.. the iPhone was just released. See ya'll later!

Does anyone know if there is away to flash the KRZR using a Mac? All the threads I have seen require a Windows PC.

Posted by: csantoni

I don't think that's possible. I did all my backups and flashing via parallels running xp on my macbook pro.

Posted by: rscharf

Thanks for the info. Guess I will just have to put up with the Verizon UI until the iPhone gets out into the market.

yeah, that i phone looks sexy. Im a hard core mac guy. I just hope it comes out to verizon, but I doubt it. I hate the idea of switching to cingular.

THANK YOU all for this great site and your help!

On a different note for some reason ‘Bluetooth’ exchange always worked -

I may back to ask a question from you all on how to get this (very cool ) phone to access the net... it isn’t working. I keep getting ‘network not available‘ message.

Again thanks you all

i haven't noticed this problem in any threads...

i drop a few of my mp3 from itunes into the my_music folder of my SD card (as per jakE) and only the first song shows up in the phone.

doesn't matter how many, or which songs i choose (they're all the same format and etc...), it's just the first one that gets read and plays. (card memory usage says it's full though)

am i missing something like perhaps adding somekind of playlist info or sub folders into the my_music folder?

help much appreciated and thanks!

verizon KRZR k1m

Is your memory card formatted correctly? Also, somethimes the phone does not read mp3 files if the title is too long. Try shortening the filenames of a few songs and make shure to keep the bit rate to under 192.

checked and it's not a title length problem.

at first i opened disk utility and checked it out. MS-DOS and FAT 16 (not sure what that is but i think it was mentioned in a post). it still only showed the first song in the folder so i erased it all using disk utility and reformatted. Now it says MS-DOS and FAT 32 but still the same prob occurs.

should i try formatting it to another of the drop-down options in disk utility? (not really savvy with this program or formatting stuff though.)

thanks!

THANK YOU all very much for contributing to this forum. I was hesitant to purchased the K1m until reading about its compatibility with my Mac (G4 powerbook). Thanks entirely to your detailed input regarding syncing, and transfering mp3s, I finally upgraded from my cherished Sony Ericson T637 and purchased the K1m via Amazon ($50 after rebates with 2-year verizon 450m contract).

There was some confusion in earlier posts about the metaclass file for ISync and emailing mp3s. I have been able to accomplish both thanks to the earlier posts, so if there are other potential K1m buyers out there on the fence you shouldnt have any problem following the instructions on this site! Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to the one-hour lag when syncing contacts from ICal???

To trim mp3s for ringtones, I am using Audacity, which can be downloaded for free. You can find the site by searching Google or Version Tracker. The program works fine, but it is shareware so you have to be persistant to shorten, lower the bitrate, and export mp3s. For example, I was not able to copy/paste a segment of track if I had pressed the play command in the program. I simply had to quit the program, re-open, highlight the first ~30s of track, cut, paste into a new document. You can change the bitrate of exported mp3s in the Preferences menu -- 64 works fine for me. You have to download an additional app plugin to export as mp3s, but following the installation instructions on the site worked fine for me. Emailing the track to the verizon email address works great! Best of all: this is only billed as a text message! Much better than downloading from VCAST!

One major question for those who are listening to mp3s on the k1m: what are you using for headphones??? The "adaptor" for the microUSB port is incompatible with a standard minijack headset (my ipod buds do not fit into this unit!). I dont want to shell out the $30 for verizon's cheesy earbuds and music cd (which I dont even think works on Mac). How are you all listening to the mp3s?

You got iCal to show up in your Krzr’s calendar ?
You mean your address book right, not your calendar ?
One hour sync ? I sync my address book in a minute or so...
uh ?

I think it's obvious his appointments are being synced with an hour time difference from when he actually sets them. Has nothing to do with how long it takes to actually sync...

That said, I have no idea how to fix it, as I've never got the K1m to sync with iCal.

Whatever you do, don't buy the Verizon music kit! If you want to get a good adapter look for this headset: SYN1504. With this one you can use any old headphones with your KRZR
Try to look on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Head...4/dp/B000M83Y1W) or wherever you can find it. I got the OEM motorola headphones but they were not worth the money. They are cheap (in quality, not pricewise) and I would not recommend buying them.

Dear experienced ones,

Using OS X 10.4.8, PB 1.33gHz Isync 2.3 and the metaplist listed below

I have been having an issue with ical sync. Using the bluetooth on my computer I can sync all contacts and my calendar. BUT, the calendar only syncs data for one week ahead of the current day.

has any one experienced anything like that before?

Here is the script I added:

I got it to do feb. and march (by changing settings in isync). But now it still will not sync later than that.

Hey JakeE

That info you gave about the Bitpim on the mac , is that to be able to use your own mp3 songs as ringtones ? If not , is there a way to do that on the mac ? Also where do i get Bitpim from ? Is it free or shareware

Posted by: JakeE

BitPim is freeware and can be found at bitpim.org. I have not been able to put any ringtones on my KRZR from my mac using bitpim or bluetooth.

Posted by: mike acosta

JakeE

I have access to a pc laptop is there a way to do it there thats easy to understand lol ?

I already got my own mp3s in the k1m thru a microSD card. I just wanna assign them to ringtones.

Posted by: JakeE

You can't assign them as ringtones. You must shorten the mp3s to under 30 seconds and put them in a different location on the phone. A good guide of how to put them on your KRZR using a PC can be found at http://mark.cdmaforums.com/ or more specifically http://mark.cdmaforums.com/P2KC-Tones.htm

Posted by: M A V I C

I just got my KRZR today. First two things of importance I apparently need some help with.

Ringtones - This question has been asked a lot. The ringtone selection on the KRZR is horrible. I'd be fine with a plain ring. Anyway, trying to get an mp3 or AAC file on there. BT, USB, bitpim... I can't get any of them to work, even with the workaround suggested in this thread. I'm trying to do this on a Mac.

iSync - Mine is the Sprint version. The scripts here are for Verizion, but even when I change the strings or try any of the half dozen different .plist mods out there, it still doesn't work. My understanding was there was a firmware update a few days ago, and maybe that's causing my issue.

Thanks.

My girlfriend just got a K1m Fire from Verizon. I've been trying to get it to work with isync, but no luck. I've tried modifing the plist and also downloading the one provided, no luck. Any idea if there is any slight modifications for K1m Fire, since its a newer phone? Any help would be appreciated.

Just a quick thanks, I've tried for months to get this to work. Your attached file did the trick first time.

Thanks again,

I've installed the OSX 10.4.9 (BP132) for PPC that was released this past week and both iSync & Bluetooth File Exchange work perfectly. I previously used USB for Contacts only. Hopefully, 10.4.9 will be available soon!

Posted by: anelso13

anybody know how I might get my contacts on palm desktop that I had with my treo to sync into my Krzr with isync?

Posted by: sfmoy

i'm a bit confused as to what i need to do here. bought a k1m today serviced by verizon. my isync "sees" my phone via bluetooth, but says it "can not connect to this device." please excuse my ignorance as i'm probably missing something obvious here, but after reading 12 pages, i still haven't figured out what it is. i'm guessing there's something i need to do with my k1m. can someone help me out? i have bluetooth as well as the usb connector. thanks in advance!

Posted by: mattlikeshockey

Sorry sfmoy, it isnt fully supported by mac yet. According to ecwashere, the next os x update will include it. Or there is plenty of conversation on this board about how to hack your isync to work. Or just wait a week or 2 like me. i Have been waiting for a few months actually.

What I really want to figure out, is how to ditch the lame verizon UI.

Posted by: jniola

Looks like the iSync update (part of 10.4.9 update) did the trick. iSync now recognizes my KRZR K1M when I do "add device" using stock files without any of the edits from this thread. I was not able to get it to work before today without performing these edits.

Posted by: VanillaIcee

The latest iSync update found in 10.4.9 apparently works for the Verizon K1m. What about the Alltel K1m or the Alltel-flashed Verizon K1m.

Well I created a plugin that can be placed in ~/Library/PhonePlugins (create the folder if it doesn't exist). Upon reopening of iSync you should be able to sync (with calendar support) your K1m with Alltel flash. It may appear in the iSync list twice, but double-click correct one.

http://rapidshare.com/files/2092724...phoneplugin.zip

If there are any issues please share. I have not tested this with any config other than my own. In fact it will likely only work with Bluetooth. I will see if future version can work through USB. Any suggestions or fixes can be posted here and I will check and update.

iSync in 10.4.9 now sees my Verizon K1M just fine, but says "This phone does not support calendar synchronization". The plist edit at the start of the thread worked beautifully for me to recognize the phone and sync the calendar in 10.4.8 with no weird issues (like the one hour off some people get), but not in 10.4.9. Anyone have any ideas on how to enable calendar sync under iSync in 10.4.9?

I am having the same problem. Mine isync worked ok with the previous mod. but after I updated I have lost calendar sync. this is no good. 90% of the reason i got a bluetooth phone was to sync my calendar... any help anyone?

Try this fix and post if it works (it should):

Find MetaClasses.plist, in /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources.
Make a backup of the file and then open it in a text or plist editor.
Go to the <key> for com.motorola.razorK1m. You can either search for it, or it should be on line 1689 in the 10.4.9 iSync.
Scroll down to the <key> for supportsCalendarsSync (line 1729).
Change the line underneath from "<false/>" to "<true/>".
Save the file, quit and reopen iSync. You may need to remove and re-add your phone.
Have fun. Post back here if it works. There is no guarantee the syncing will work, but now iSync will try.

Posted by: Jdgough

I was able to slightly fix the problem I was having by simply following the directions to get to the mplist on the front page,

then (first make a backup of the file before editing it) edit using a text editor
search for the k1 in the file
Then look for the place that says

<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<False/>

and change it to read

<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>
<true/>

My problem is it is not switching the time by one hour when I sync on all my events.

I didn't have this issue previously, does anyone have a fix for that?

Posted by: JakeE

Does anyone here who has updated OSX have alltel firmware on their KRZR? I updated today and it deleted the working plugin. iSync is now unable to recognize my KRZR. Anyone else with similar problems?
Vanilla Icee's method did not work.

Posted by: Johnna

OSX 10.4.9 finally addresses an iCal issue for those that could only get the address book to work when connecting using BT with their K1/K1m’s !

With the new OS upgrade not only does the Mac sync many more months into the future but noticeably faster !

On a different note, for some reason when I use a BT headset I get better connectivity for call reception. How weird is that ?

Mac OS 10.4.9
K1 unlocked (Cingular)
D-Link Firmware Version: 2.1586

I got mine working again. Basically I reapplied the hack to the new plist file. I've updated the info here

That did the trick. Thanks for the file Mr.Kr. My Alltel KRZR now syncs with contacts and calendars (again).

Apple's list of supported phones for 10.4.9 says the k1m can be synced with USB. Doesn't work when I try it, on either a powerbook G4 or a G5.BT sync works, but iSync can't see the phone to add it using usb. At the same time, my old V180 stopped working over USB. I can see either phone connected in the system profiler, but not in the network preference pane.

Can anyone else use USB? Any clues about what I'm doing wrong?

Posted by: VanillaIcee

Ok, so I've updated the plugin to put into ~/Library/PhonePlugins.

http://rapidshare.com/files/2141538...phoneplugin.zip

So far I am sure it works for a Verizon K1m that has been flashed to Alltel on Mac OS X 10.4.9. Other configurations may work.

I can also try to support other versions of the phone (including the plain Alltel version or Sprint version) if people want. All I need are the GMI and GMM strings for the phone, which can be discovered using the getbtstring2.sh found at http://www.miguelito.org/mig-archives/000275.html just in case someone wants to help.

For those that have the Verizon phone, the best option is probably editing the file found inside iSync program as mentioned above to allow calendar syncing.

Posted by: tenaciousd

Vanilla Icee, thanks for letting us know the correct file to edit, mine syncs calendars again but I have the same problem with calendar entries, they are off by one hour and it causes syncing both ways to bounce calendar entries slowly backwards every time I sync. Oddly enough I had no problem with that hour difference in 10.4.8. Anyone have any ideas?

Posted by: VanillaIcee

Hmm, for Verizon phones that have a calendar sync problem the best bet I have is it is daylight savings time related. I actually don't think it is apple's fault, as syncing with the default calendar using the motorola flash does not cause this problem.

Now it might go away once the normal day for daylight savings occurs (remember this year was early in the U.S.). Maybe there is option on the phone?

Someone should try to click on "More Options..." in iSync and change the Events Time Zone one hour off.

Posted by: lutefiasco

I had the one-hour off problem, but unchecking "use system time" and instead manually selecting my actual timezone from More Options, things have now properly lined up.

For the record, as well, brand new KRZR (K1M) from Verizon, had never used bluetooth/sync before, and I got the "This Device has no supported services" after first pairing phone and computer in 10.4.9. After much banging of head against wall, a simple restart enabled contact syncing. A manual edit of the property list file enabled calendar syncing.

Posted by: tenaciousd

VanillaIcee,

Changing the time zone in Isync works to write entries to the phone doing a "reset device", but if you try and do a second sync it wants to write a different time for the events from the phone back to iCal, which I guess makes sense. Perhaps this will go away when we catch up to the normal start date of DST. Thanks for the help!

VanillaIcee, I tried to follow your link, but I could not find it. Can you help? Also, this patch works for Verizon right?

Posted by: MotoGenius

My Mac Dual 1.8 G5 Mac doesn't see my KRZR in the iSync program. If I go into my usb devices my K1m is seen. On Apple's website it says the K1m is supported.

Adding devices: Scanning picks up nothing.

Apple>About this Mac> More Info>Hardware>USB>USB Bus>Motorola L7c/K1m/V3m

Any suggestions would be great.

I'm feeling MotoStumped right now.

Guys how do I get my krzr (verizon) to work with iCal? I can only get address book stuff.

I'm running 10.4.9

Posted by: steve2291

Still having issues with Ical time changes. Everything is an hour early and changing the standard time does not work (it works but I can only sync once without everything going crazy).

Anyone had luck with this?
