Same issue. The DST did not fix this.

Try pairing your phone to the mac through the BlueTooth System Preferences. Once the phone is paired, try adding it to iSync. I had to try adding it twice after the pairing (the first time, it game up as some "generic" [and unsupported] Motorola phone. the second time, it appeared as a K1m).

On a related note. I too am having (what appears to be) a DST issue with my phone. All my appointments become an hour earlier when they move to the phone. I tried playing around with the timezone iSync uses, and was able to get a good first synch by picking a timezone an hour closer to GMT, but subsequent sync's just messed up the calendar again.

Anyone having any luck with this?

Dave

I am having the same iCal issues that everyone else seems to be having. Events are one hour off and all day events will not sync. I have poked and looked at the .plist files and still cannot find anything that will work. It is now 4/3/07 past the normal DST changeover date and still no luck.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help

I did see someone in another thread say that all day events got set to Jan 1, 2000 (or some such date). So, you might try looking there for your missing appointments. Before the time change (and under 10.4.8), I was definitely getting weird stuff with all day events. In 10.4.9, they seem to come over (at least multi-day all-day events do), but there's still that pesky 1-hour problem...

Posted by: mattlikeshockey

you wouldnt have the DST issues if you lived in Arizona. or that on small county in indiana.

Has anyone had any luck syncing the verizon krzr via usb to a mac that is running OS 10.4.9? I've tried with the original plist file (since 10.4.9 apparently supports the krzr) but when I go to add phone all it says is "no device found"

Is it only possible with blue tooth? My older mac doesn't have bluetooth, but maybe I need to get one of those usb bluetooth things.

Has anyone had luck with isync and usb?

thanks in advance.

Whenever I try emailing myself an audio file, with the intention of using it as a ringetone, the audio files arrives 'empty.' It's under a second with no sound. The file I've been testing this with is named 'Once in a Lifetime - Ring.mp3.' It's 16 seconds, 48 kbps, 100kB. Is there anything here that would present an obvious problem? I appreciate the help!

The audio file must be 32 kps, 24 kHz, mono. It can be between 20 - 30 seconds.

How to get a k1m to sync with iSync:

My setup: PowerBook G14, Sprint k1m (latest firmware), OS X 10.4.9:

If you have OS X 10.4.9, the OS update installed a phoneplugin folder that does some strange things (couldn't quite figure out all the stuff there). This is what I did to make my k1m sync and I can sync my contacts (haven't tested the calendar yet)

Delete your Bluetooth pairings on your Mac and on your k1m

Go to iSync > Contents > Plugins > ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice > Contents > PlugIns.

Look for a folder called Motorola-K1.phoneplugin and drag it to your desktop.

Copy the supplied MetaClasses.plist to iSync > Contents > Plugins > ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice > Contents > PlugIns > PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin > Contents > Resources >

Make sure that you do a backup of your original file FIRST!

Close the window and restart your Mac.

Repair your k1m and Mac and you should see the Bluetooth Setup Assistant informing you to use iSync to sync calendars and contacts.

**********

Now all we need id for someone to make a black k1m icon - that blue one is not pretty!

**********

Thanks to Miguelito.org for the refresher course on getting phone strings to use on iSync.

Any questions - post on this thread

rmarquez,
Have you tried iCal and iSync with your KRZR K1m yet? If so what are your results.

Thanks in advance

Posted by: rmarquez

My iCal entries seem to be fine *knock on wood*. I did notice the phone complained abvout synchronizing all day events so it didn't seem to like that. But if I remember correct, Moto's may have had that problem before.

So far, so good

I notice from user info that rmarquez's K1m is either a sprint or cingular, while your's is apparently verizon. On my verizon phone (and anyone else I've heard of that's tried iCal with Verizon under 10.4.9), appointments drift forward an hour with each sync. Standard MotoUI phones (cingular, alltel, sprint) seem to be immune to this problem. Please keep us posted if you find a way to solve the "drift" problem on the Verizon phones...

Posted by: rmarquez

Indeed. My phone is a Sprint and so far I havent had problems syncing except for those all day events. Other than that, it all seems to work OK. I posted in here being the official k1m thread and the fact that it seemed k1m users on Sprint couldn't sync because their phones were not recognized.

I have tried to look at the k1 phone plugin that gets installed with the 10.4.9 update. I can't quite figure out whats all the code but I'm working on it... maybe we can figure out what's wrong.

I was under the impression that the Sprint phones do not have the standard MotoUI but they have the Sprint overlays and crap (for lack of a better word). Its not as bad as VZW but it could be better.

Just bought a verizon krazr k1m. I have an imac (no bluetooth) 10.4.9 running isync 2.4. When I connect via usb and "add device" thru isync, isync responds "no device found." System profiler shows the phone connected to the usb port. Also, the phone is not charging on the usb. Do I need a specific type of usb cable? Any help or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Steve

Posted by: rmarquez

Did you read the thread and download the MetClasses.plist to have your phone recognized on iSync?

That would probably be your first step. You can get the Contacts working. People report the calendar entries are off - so thats not working yet

It was my understanding that 10.4.9 has the plist already installed. I checked the resource panels as described and it is there.

Posted by: solexo

Well, I had taken my K1m verizon to the Apple store in Annapolis to try a bluetooth sync and that didn't work either. They had 10.4.9 and isync 2.4. I think Verizon may have changed some of the software or didn't load the right software. My phone has 24.1_00.25.0C. Does that sound right? Please help I am desparate.

I see no one has yet responded to this issue. I too cannot get isync to recognize a krzr k1m using a usb cable on my wife's G4 iBook, without bluetooth. I don't think it is a cable issue because System Profiler correctly identifies the krzr. The first time I connected using usb, the phone said "unauthorized charger" With subsequent usb connections the iBook beeps but nothing happens. I hope someone comes up with an answer for this. Otherwise, I'll have to buy a bluetooth dongle.

Posted by: alm70

I'm stil trying to figure this krzr and isync too. I'm also trying to get it to work with Bitpim. I'm just using a standard usb cable off my digitla camera...I have a ton of cables from various devices. I don't necessarily need one from verizon/motorola do I? BitPim won't even recongnize my phone. Do I need "their" cable to make any of this work?

Posted by: solexo

Kid,
so you got it to work with bluetooth? as I wrote above, I could not even get it to work at the apple store via bluetooth with the Apple Geniuses. Actually the guy I was working with went above and beyond the call of duty to help me and he was very knowledgable. I strongly believe that verizon changed their firmware or software and apple has not changed it. I hope someone much smarter then I figures this out quickly.

That's the setup I have, and it works for me. Do a clean repairing of the phone.
1) If the phone is in iSync (probably not given what you've described), remove it.
2) In Bluetooth preferences on the Mac, if the phone is paired, unpair it.
3) Cycle power on phone and reboot computer
4) In Bluetooth prefences on the Mac, choose "Setup a new device" to get the phone paired with the Mac
5) After that pairing is complete, start iSync and try to add the phone (you might have to try this a couple times. The first time I did it, the phone came up as a generic motorola phone [and unsupported]. I tried it again, and it came up as K1m)

Address Book sync will work. Calendars are screwy (with the Verizon software). Appointments from iCal will drift forward an hour with each sync. Appointments made on the phone seem to sync/resync just fine (unless you modify them in iCal, then they start drifting too).

Good Luck!

Posted by: solexo

Thanks, but I don't have bluetooth on my imac. I was trying to sync it with bluetooth at the apple store to see if it was possible at all. Everytime I use the USB to isync "add device". It keeps replying "no device found."

I got my phone to sync with isync by using the instructions in the thread. I now have all of my contacts that I want from my address book in OS X sync'd with my KRZR from Verizon.

My problem is that I can't send files via bluetooth with it. When I go to send a file the phone asks to connect via bluetooth and I click yes, then it says there's an incoming file and asks to accept it. I click yes and then it says Failed: Connection Interrupted. It does this on both my PowerMac G5 which has internal bluetooth and my C2D MacBook Pro which also has BT built in. Does anyone else have this issue? Any thoughts on how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

I just purchased a Motorola SLVR L7c from Verizon, thinkging that it would work with iSync v 2.4 out of the box. No luck. I tried the supplied metafile, but it still won't work.

Are there some mods I can make to the metafile to make the sprint K1m metafile work?

Was your initial bluetooth pairing initiated from the Mac or from the Phone. I've had problems with phone initiated pairings. Also, if you are trying to write the file to SD card in your phone, it doesn't work (at least not for me). I have to move files to the phone (which limits how big they can be), then I can move them out to the card.

Here is what I've found so far. I hope it's useful, and I hope you can help me with my remaining questions. Most of this I wrote up on my blog: http://www.proxc.net/index.cgi/2007/05/18#KRZR

I just purchased a Verizon KRZR K1m and I have a Powerbook running 10.4.9. Bluetooth worked with iSync right out of the box. I turned my phone's discovery mode on (Tools & Settings, 3. Bluetooth, right soft key Settings, 2. Discovery Mode, On), and then went to my Bluetooth system preferences on my mac to discover it. They paired and all was good, iSync got all my contacts set. No iCal support, but that doesn't bother me.

As for charging, you can use a regular USB cable like one that came with a camera. Mine at first wouldn't charge, but I found a program called MotoCharger ( http://blog.gruby.com/2006/11/27/ch...-razr-over-usb/ ) that runs in the background and lets it charge. Very simple, just set it to start on log-in, and you'll be fine.

Given that my phone is CDMA (I think that's the problem), I haven't had any luck connecting with moto4lin, but I have been able to connect through the USB port with BitPim ( http://www.bitpim.org/ ). In preferences choose "Other CDMA Phone", and then try one of the ports that is listed with Motorola in the name. If you get an error with one, try the other. Also, under the "View" menu in BitPim, click "View Filesystem". Start BitPim with your phone unplugged, then when you plug in your phone, click on the "/" in the Filesystem, and it should retrieve your data, allowing you to change what you'd like, etc.

All that being said, I can transfer files to my phone, charge, sync, etc. However, I cannot find any of the mp3s I've transferred to my phone (Sent through the Bluetooth File Exchange which you can find in Applications > Utilities). I've stuck them in the audio folder, and deleted the MyToneDB.db and TmpTneDB.db files, power cycled the phone, and I still can't find them.

Is there some obvious, simple step I'm missing somewhere? Has anyone been able to transfer mp3s and subsequently find them/play them on the phone, either as a ringtone or just an mp3?

I've switched to do a one-way sync (replacing ALL the contact/calendar info on my phone with what's in my computer)...
Initial Setup In iSync
1) I opened my phone and hit the "More Options..." under Calendars.
2) Hit "Set..." for the timezone info
3) Picked ADT timezone (to be an hour CLOSER to GMT - so that when my phone drifts it back an hour it winds up in the proper time for EDT). If your not in EDT, just pick something an hour closer to GMT from where you really are.
At each sync
NEVER press the sync button (since it'll pretty much screw with all the appointments in your iCal
instead, select your phone and press "Reset Device..." on the "Devices" menu

Only take this route if you can live with the following limitations:
1) ALL the speed-dials in your phone will be replaced with random entries from your contacts list (including #1 will no longer speed-dial your voicemail)
2) ALL appointments you directly enter into your phone will be erased

Basically, I just want my phone to have everything from the computer and I can live without two-way sync. Loss of speed-dials is a little annoying, but I can live with the trade-off to have my iCal data available on the phone.

The only other resort is to flash the phone back to original Motorola UI (which is a whole new level of complexity I'm not willing to risk - i.e. if you mess it up, I don't think Verizon will put your phone back to a good state for you)

Hello,
I have never posted before, but I just got a Motorola KRZR K1m from Verizon and want to sync it via USB with iSync (the address book.) I downloaded the MetaClasses.plst file and replaced it in the contents folder as described in this thread. However, the phone is still not being recognized in iSync. I hit "sync" but it says i need to add a device. this brings up a auto-scanning dialogue box that says "no devices found". I hit scan and nothing happens.

Am I missing a step somewhere? is there something i need to do on the phone to get it to be seen on USB? When I look at the system profiler I can see the phone in the USB tree.

any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks to you all!
Jason

i have a verizon branded krzr that I have flashed with the latest alltel monster flash...

and a Pbook and a mac pro, both running 10.4.9

I have pored over every page of this thread, replacing metaclasses.plists like mad. i have had great success isync-ing my razrs in the past, but today has been a lesson in dealing with frustration.

I finally connected my krzr to my powerbook with a USB cable, and clicked add device in isync, and low and behold, it showed right up (with a pretty black icon even) and let me add it and sync. It even synced my calendar icons with no problem.

but still, when i try to add the device when its not connected via usb, it comes up as some generic candy-bar style phone and isync will not add it.

I have already paired the device in bluetooth sys prefs. When I pair it, no supported services are detected, but then under the device pairing in bluetooth sys prefs it lists obex, BT imaging profile, headset voiice gateway, and handsfree voice gateway. I have successfully connected and sent/pulled files from it.

Can anyone help me isync via Bluetooth????

thanks,
brian

ps the knowledge on this site is always astounding...thanks

Got a brand new Telus krzr (k1m), finally got it paired (the previous telus razr v3c had no problems at all)

So Isync keeps saying it found the device "Krzr" but can not connect. I can use OBEX and hte bluetooth file exchange etc. I have added dozens of different strings to the metaclasses.plist and tryed several of the ones posted but I think the Telus phone must have a unique identifier. The demo one in the store didn't have the spark icon on it like this one so it must be newer and be why it won't just sync.

Anyone know how to watch what string the phone announces itself as so I can add it to the metaclasses?

BTW it won't sync via usb either.

So I realized my problem...i had not correctly restored the 2742 seem after the Alltel Flash. Once i uploaded the 2742 seem from Mark Venture's Monster2 page I was good to go...now just need to figure out DUN.

I was finally able to edit an Altel script to work so I can get isync to find the krzr, unfortunately it won't do anything. When it tries to sync it prompts the phone to open a DUN connection. Even when I allow it, the sync still fails.

I have found a few issues with the phone too so it may be a bad unit. The contact list won't open in the phone stalls on a please wait screen and the redial/call history functions don't work at all, they boot you back to the main screen.

I posted this note in Feb. and never got a response -- after scouring this thread, I still can't seem to find the answer to my problem below. I've tried all moto scripts from Ross Barkman's GPRS page and none work. I really need this phone to work as a modem in remote locations -- any help would be much appreciated. It seems if anyone can help, they'd be checking this forum.

See initial post below :

---
I just got the GSM/GPRS MOTOKRZR and am trying to use the phone as a wireless modem (via bluetooth) with my cellular provider, Cingular.

I was previously able to configure this with my old Motorola phone and get online without problem. Essentially, just using the 'Motorola GPRS CID1" script and using "Cingular" as the Service Provider in the PPP window.

Here's what's happening when I press "Connect" in InternetConnect: The phone/MacBookPro are matched/synced, I get authorization, then a connection for a split second, then it disconnects. I set PPP Options to use verbose logging to see what was happening, and it says "Modem hangup", then it disconnects. I've unchecked "Send PPP echo packets", "TCP header...", all with no luck.

I've tried every possible modem configuration listed on the web for rzrs (wap.cingular (in caps), isp.cingular), also *99# in the even it was using a GSM script. I've also tried all scripts posted on Ross Barkman's page.

Is this a known issue? Are there any solutions? I really would like to use this phone as a modem in the future.

Thanks.

For one way sync you can go to >iSync Preferences> Reset Sync History and this will not mess with your contacts and allow for a one way sync. After the initial sync to get your dates in the address book go to the device setup and deselect calendars for contact syncs. Maybe just sync one week at a time. This bug is really getting on my nerves.

Hi All

I've been up and down this awesome thread, but I still have one problem.

I'm on Bell.

I've been searching the Bell forum, but Mac's arn't all that popular north of the 49th. I havn't found anything relating to iSync so far.

Apple's forum is equally un-Canadian.

I've tried a few little things, changing "K1mVerizon" to Bell, or just K1m, but I really know nothing when it comes to this sort of coding business....

my details :
iMac Core 2 Duo, 2.16 gHz, 1GB ram, OS X 10.4.10.
MotoKRZR K1m "Fire" S/W 2402_01.16.00

If anyone could offer any advice, I'd appreciate it greatly. We don't even get iPhone commercials up here yet, so for now about the best we can do for phones is Motorola devices.

And, I just payed a h311! of a lot of money for the cute little red thing.

Thanks!

I got my K1 connected to my Mac because of this website.
I use a D-Link Bluetooth adapter - Apple Sys Profile: Firmware Version: 2.1586 (2.1586)
Hang in there this website has some great people on it

Posted by: Johnna

I could not get my K1 to sync until I came to this forum - (device not supported in past Mac OS versions)
Then I changed some XML I learned about on this forum and I could get the address book to load but not the iCal changes. Then Mac came out with 10.4.9 and everything syncs within 10 seconds ... WOW !

I have an unlocked K1 and (had Cingular) use At&T as my carrier.
I use a D-Link BlueTooth adapter that Apple’s sys profiler lists as firmware version 2.1586

I love this K1, it connects quickly to the net, works well with BT headsets and has many useful features. I am grateful and want to give thanks to Howard Forums for all their hard work and invaluable info assisting a total noob as myself getting this beautiful device working so well !

Arrhhhh, Ok I got my Verizon K1m replaced yesterday under warrenty (Fried by the charger I think!). I had previously successfully synced my address book under 10.4.x, but not under 10.4.9. I tried to get that done to get my contacts back on the new one (lost them off the old) The new K1m WON'T sync now, via Bluetooth, USB or whatever. I tried a few of the hacks to get it to work, with no success.

What I need: A working verizon K1m metaclasses.plist,
I need to know whether I need to leave the Apple phone description in the isync package.

I'd like to be able to get rid of the Verizon software and go with something better, is that possible? I also would like to put some ring tones on from my computer if thats possible.

I'd also LIKE iCal to work in both directions, but what i NEED is the contacts.

My setup:
MacBook Pro Rev.A 10.4.10 (I thought the update might help)
Verizon K1m sw Version 24.1_00.25.0C

What happens, Bluetooth pairing works, iSync sees it but says there is nothing it can do with it. Bluetooth setup assistant says there is no supported profiles for the device, and the phone says the computer supports object push profile. ...

Help. I'm not a power user, but I can do most of this crap that the thread talks about.

Hey all. I'm hoping to get some info from you all. I'm researching my next phone upgrade, and now that I've converted and am a solid disciple of Mac, I'm leaning towards anything that will sync the contacts and calendar with Address Address Book and iCal through iSync. Apple states that the k1m is supported by iSync. Does it sync flawlessly with 10.4.9? Any info would be great.

Under Verizon, you will have problems with iCal (appointments drifting forward an hour with each sync). I haven't heard of the same problem with Sprint or Alltel. It seems to be specific to the software verizon puts on the phone. Talking to Apple people at our local genius bar, they get a lot of complaints about Verizon phones with iSync.

I get around the problem by always using the "reset device" to overwrite my phone instead of merging data (also had to lie to iSync about what time zone I am in). I get my calendar and address book (but speed dials are destroyed with each sync, and if I put numbers/appts directly into the phone, they are gone with the next sync).

Not exactly what I'd call flawless (though I'd have to guess that you'll probably run into similar problems with many of the verizon phones - similar software on them all).

Dave, Thanks for the info. It is as I suspected, the Phone Nazis are to blame, not Apple, not iSync. Unfortunately, I use speed dials quite a bit, though speaker-independent voice recognition helps to alleviate that issue. (Unlike my crappy 6256i that calls random people if the voice activation key is accidentally pressed). I might lean a little towards getting a BlackBerry 7310e and use Missing Sync, but I'm not impressed with the battery life. Bottom line is I depend a lot on my Palm TX, but it's bulky to carry that and a cell phone. I'd get a smart phone, but I can't upgrade for a year and don't feel like paying full price, and lackluster battery performance is pressing me towards a cell phone that has decent calendar features. I'll keep researching for now. Maybe if we're all lucky, OS 10.5 might give us a few more options with iSync. I'm not holding my breath, as it seems Verizon doesn't have any plans to stop hamstringing their phones. If only Verizon didn't have such impressive nationwide coverage, I'd switch to AT&T and maybe see an iPhone in my future.

I kinda got everything working beautifully, but I can't tell you what exactly did it. I can tell you two things:

Bluetooth DOESN'T work when the phone is also plugged into the computer via USB (I was charging on the USB).

Setting the <key> line in the metaclasses.ini to true enabled calenders, which work for the next two weeks or so, fine on the newest K1m that I got from verizon. Set the sync setting any longer than 2 weeks and the sync will fail everytime, I think it has somethng to do with the amount of memory that the K1m allows for calenders. But that is really stupid since the phone has plenty of memory. It should be able to auto-allocate part of the miniSD card to that task... oh well, moto still has a ways to go when dealing with memory allocation.

Also booted my MacBook Pro into Windows XP and used BitPim and that other one that starts with a Q to modify the phone so I can 'tether' my vcast to my mac via Bluetooth. Now I have internet anywhere I have EVDO.

I'm finally completely happy with my K1m, a year after it became available and I bought it. Lesson learned: don't buy a new phone if you want all the hacks to work right away, get something someone ELSE has already messed with. I hate being on the bleeding edge of technology.

Next up... 2nd gen iPhone, in a year...

I have a couple of questions for you that may help us get the iCal worked out.

1) What SW Version is on your phone. Menu>Settings & Tools>9. Phone Info>2. SW Version>1. Software Version.

2) Did you change the same metaclass.plist file that we have been working on in past post. Or did you find another one that works.

3) Did you edit the seem to get tethering enabled and if so do you know which seem and bit you enabled.

Thanks in advance

I've gotten my Verizon Sliver L7c to work by adding this script in the iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/MetaClasses.plist file.

As others have stated, I only set calendar syncing to two weeks or less. Syncing seems to only work one way. Caveat - I make no guarantees that this modification will work for you. Make sure you back up iSync before attempting any modifications.

This only works through bluetooth.

Hi, all

I've found everything here I think I need to get this to sync but it's not working. I have the following:

-- a new KRZR k1m through Sprint.
-- a 17" Macbook Pro C2D.
-- OS 10.4.10
-- iSync 2.4 (501.2)

I am able to pair with my Address Book, but when I try to iSync, I get the following notice:

-------------------
Motorola Phon

iSync can not connect to this device
-------------------

Any advice? Apple says clear as day on their site that this device is supported. Hmmmm...

Posted by: macosxuser

Are you using bluetooth or a USB cable? I have Verizon, but it wouldn't work USB, HAVE to use bluetooth, and the phone can't be plugged into the computer to 'charge' either.

I tried both. No go. Is it an Apple issue? A Sprint issue? I thought all the code changes fixed the problem.

I got iSync to work (calenders and contacts) however every time it is done with the sync, I get the following error message:

Tuesday, July 17, 2007 11:15 PM
[Motorola Phone] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "Motorola Phone" synchronization failed

Also, I am using an Alltel K1m.

Posted by: bdplaid

I also have a new Verizon KRZR K1m, applied the changes and can sync both contacts and calendar. However, the iCal times are shifted forward 1 hour. Specifically, repeating dates are fine, but individual notes are time-shifted.

Interestingly, this also happens on a PC sync using mobile Phone Tools, making me think it's a phone issue.

Question: Does anyone have experience with a RAZR V3, V3m or the like, and have the same issue?

I need to get this finished so i can get back to accomplishing something! :-)

thx,

hd

Apple's forum is equally un-Canadian.

I've tried a few little things, changing "K1mVerizon" to Bell, or just K1m, but I really know nothing when it comes to this sort of coding business....

If anyone could offer any advice, I'd appreciate it greatly. We don't even get iPhone commercials up here yet, so for now about the best we can do for phones is Motorola devices.

And, I just payed a h311! of a lot of money for the cute little red thing.

Thanks!
I managed to piece together some info and have got it working (albeit only USB, not Bluetooth, but I am working on that). In TextEdit, I navigated to the following line:

Code:
<string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+KRZRK1</string>
And added this line:
Code:
<string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+Motorola CDMA K1mm phone</string>
I put the modified file here. If I figure out how to sync with Bluetooth, I will reply to the thread again.

Finally my Telus K1M has been repaired and can sync now, but no matter how I set calander sync, it won't sync calanders either by usb or bt, it is just greyed out. I have deleted the isync profile a few times, do I need to delete the pairing too?

I got the Bluetooth to pair and actually was able to upload ringtones, but I'm still not able to to sync at all. I'm sure I can easily do all this one of my kids' PCs, but I prefer to use the Mac I got for me.

Methinks it's a Sprint issue. I should have done better research before buying this phone, though the Apple site very clearly states that the KRZR K1m works with iSync...

I know this thread is pretty much dead, but I hope you'll help me anyways. I just got a KRZR K1m and am trying to download mp3's to it off my Mac. When I plug in the USB cable, my Mac doesn't seem to notice the phone, though the phone does begin to charge. I've gotten the two to connect with Bluetooth, but when I try to configure them it tells me that there are no 'supported services" on the phone. I am not hugely tech savvy, so please be nice in your answers. Thanks in advance!

I have noticed how some folks can get their Krazr’s to interface with their Macs and some can’t.

I followed what other users posted here on Howard Forums with the XML and I was careful to use the right D-Link and the get the latest
Firmware Version: 2.1586.

There is a program that can flash a BT dongle to this version.

It was frustrating getting the ‘not supported message’

Please contact me in a message and I’ll help you if I can.

I have a KRZR K1 (not K1m). Are there fixes available? I was only able to iSync once and now I get "iSync failed" errors. Further, the first time only synced my Calendar and not my Address Book. (This seems the opposite of what others have reported.) Any ideas? Thanks.

Posted by: wildbill57

Hello,

I have a problem. The screen on my KRZR is blank, and Verizon is telling me that the only thing I can get off of the phone is my Address Book. I have tried to use Sync with my phone by adding the PHP code in this thread, and I have tried to use BITPIM, all unsuccessfully. Is there any way for me to get the information off of my phone or am I SOL?

Thanks...

I tried all this, but there is no "Filesystem" displayed in BitPim. HELP!

Great forum! Haven't got mine sussed yet.

I originally had the phone working with isync out of the box but after the first few isync produced this error message:

"[Oli Mobile] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "Oli Mobile" synchronization failed"

No amount of restarting or hardware reset has changed this.

I also sometimes get:

"[Oli Mobile] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
Device "Oli Mobile" synchronization failed"

Since then I've tried your .plist file and updated .plist as detailed above but with the error message:

"Plug in for this phone is missing."

Could be that either I'm not editing / saving something correctly or I'm sat here in the UK with a KRZR K1 and that doesn't fit with the forum.

Hello All,
I just purchased a KRZR K1m on the Sasktel network in Canada.

I am running Mac OS 10.5 Leopard and cannot get the phone to Sync. My E815 connects just fine like it did in 10.4.10 but no luck with the KRZR.

I have tried copying the first MetaClasses.plist file mentioned around page 5 of this thread into the correct folder but that didn't help either. Should I be using a more recent plist file?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
K

Well, daylight saving time is finally over, and it seems like the 1-hour clock drift problem is gone (until March). I can do real sync now instead of reset device, and I haven't noticed any drift... I notice the new iSync page for Leopard states that the Verizon version of the K1m does NOT support Calendar sync. So, it seems unlikely that Apple is going to work to correct this issue.

Just wanted to share that I flashed my Verizon K1m to the generic Motorola firmware and at least have 1-way syncing of Contacts working (I haven't tried anything else).

Please see here for instructions.

Posted by: MamaWildBear

Thanks goodness for this forum. I was so happy to get my Motokrzr k1m to sync contacts and calendar with my new Mac (I'm a recent convert from PC - 3 days on Mac now).

However, the long code addition to the file shown in the first method of this thread worked but generated many errors in my console. E.g.

1/14/08 8:55:34 AM isync-device-tester[972] '"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+K1m' (com.apple.gmi+gmm) is registered twice. For com.motorola.razorK1m and for com.motorola.krzrk1mVerizon

1/14/08 8:55:34 AM isync-device-tester[972] <Builtin Plugin at /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin> is conflicting with itself - ignoring

As instructed in this forum, I opened metaclasses.plist by right-clicking the iSync application and choosing "Show Package Contents." Then drill down to the following: Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources -> MetaClasses.plist. When editing it, instead of adding a whole new batch of code, I searched for the line that says “<key>com.motorola.razorK1m</key>”

Then scroll down within that section until you see the line that says “<key>supportsCalendarsSync</key>. In the following line, change “<false/>” to “<true/>”

Save and restart iSync. Note that if you have already added your phone to iSync, you should delete it and re-add it.

The difference may be due to the fact that I have Leopard, which was not out when the first instructions were posted.

My downside is that I have not been able to make music work on this phone with the Mac. I can't get it to connect via USB cable either. I've tried bitpim but with no success. I have resorted to pulling out the memory card and sticking it in my card reader and copying music files there. It is inconvenient and I'm frustrated that I can't solve the problem but at least I have my music.

iSync 2.4, included with the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Update, supports many phones. Due to firmware differences, some Sprint-based phones manufactured by Motorola may not be recognized by iSync 2.4.
Products affected

* Sprint-based Motorola KRZR (K1m)

Reference found in the
documentation section on the Apple website. I wish they had incorporated this fact into the main isync supported phones list before I bought my phone.

I haven't been able to get this phone to work under Leopard either.

Posted by: CMH31

Hi! I've read the entire thread and can't seem to find my exact problem. I'm running iSync 2.4 on OS 10.4.11, which finds my k1m phone, but says

"iSync can not connect to this device"

I can connect Bluetooth, but there are no services available to link with the phone. I've tried the modified MetaClasses files, but the coding seems different than the ones provided.

Can someone help me fix this???

Posted by: VBdiver

my KRZR syncs very well I get a msg on my KRZR when I click sync "network dail-up" the I must choose on the soft keys "grant" or "deny" . What exactly is this ? Can this and should this be changed ?
My Razr V3 just did a blip sound at the beginning and end of iSync process.
I am so happy it just works but am not sure I might be doing something with my minutes used on the phone . I most likely will never use it as a modem & skipped that set-up when I initially did the Bluetooth set-up.

thanks

can I use phone as modem with my sprint k1m? I have unlimited data.

Posted by: macbeemer

It seems many have altered the MetaClasses.plist file, changing the false to a true, and some have had some success since then. i have altered the file on my mac, and was able to sync my krzr exactly once. I have since returned the mac/isync code to pristine state, restarted the mac, master cleared and reset the krzr and tried to reconstruct the process exactly, from my notes, with no success. there is something buried either in the phone or the mac that has tripped a trigger of some sort. Another thing is the bluetooth seems to time-out on the phone unless it detects I think, something more active that file transfers. Active exchange, as with a conversation through an earpiece, will keep the bluetooth connection open, but while syncing files, it will time out and disconnect, creating the error message encountered by so many. Can anyone think of a way to keep the bluetooth from shutting down? that may be the final piece of the puzzle for ical KRZR bluetooth syncing. Unless Verizon would just cooperate. Or, unless i feel like subscribing to a 6.95 a month get it now app.

Posted by: schultzdw@mac.c

If the timeout and disconnect is your only error, you are probably trying to sync to much data to your phone. I've got a couple hundred contacts, which doesn't seem to be a problem. However, when I try to sync more than a couple months worth of calendar data, I timeout. If you are timing out on only a month or two maybe your social calendar is too large (or you have too many work meetings). Try dropping down how far into the future (or past) you sync data to your phone and see if that helps.

I was thinking along those lines originally. I do not sync my contacts through iSync/address book, i use VZW's backup assistant, which works very well. I did sync my RAZR and now wish to sync my KRZR through ical/isync. The first time l synced the KRZR, after altering the .plist file, I chose "on first sync, erase data on phone, then write to the phone," or whatever it says, and i selected a few calendars, and went back one week, and forward one year. It all worked. Now, no matter what i try, it won't take even a week of only one calendar. I wrote the iSync .plists back to their original state and started over from there, and reset the phone also, but - no luck. I might try to pull a totally clean isync from my leopard install disk and try to work with that.

I don't know how you found that info (i'd sure as hell like to), but whatever effort it took is sincerely appreciated.

I just got a MacBook Pro, and followed this thread to get my MTS Mobility K1m to work with iSync. What I noticed from some posts from people on the major US carriers is that you need to get the identification section in the MetaClasses.plist file to match the identification of your phone.

I had observed the modem string while the phone was connected to MPT on a Windows machine. This allowed me to figure out the combination of the phone identification and the phone version to get this to work for me:

<key>com.motorola.razorK1m</key>
<dict>
<key>Identification</key>
<dict>
<key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key>
<array>
<string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+K1mm</string>
<string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"+K1mm</string>
<string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2004"+K1mm</string>
<string>"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+K1mm</string>
</array>
</dict>

Notice this is in the existing key com.motorola.razorK1m. I didn't have to add a new entry.

The highlighted line without the quotes is derived from what appears in the modem string. I believe that is the one that is used to match to what the phone sends in order to identify the phone.

I followed the advice to delete the Bluetooth entry and run the Bluetooth Setup Assistant from scratch when iSync started up.

iSync and Bluetooth are very slick together.

Please let me know if this helps anyone, or if I made any incorrect assumptions.

Oh the problems I'm having. Here're my stats:

K1m Krzr
in Canada on Telus
using a Mac (OSX 10.4.11)
connecting via USB

I've already successfully got iSync to work alright with iCal, and now all I want to is put my own ringtones on it! I do not want to pay the $3.50 per tone that Telus charges!

I can get mp3's onto the phone by using the extra SD card I bought, but once there, I can't 'apply as ringtone'. They're small enough, 60 KB, 32 kbps, less than 20 sec long, a 9 char file name. I figure the problem must be that I need to use BitPim to delete those 2 files (MyToneDB.db and TmpTneDB.db ?) from the filesystem. After hours of messing around, I actually got BitPim to recognize my phone (I think it was because i finally switched from Modem/Com to USB. heh), and everything seems fine, until I try to look at the filesystem, and it's blank.

My calendar info, and contacts show up in the BitPim window, but nothing in the filesystem. What's up with that? (also, something JUST happened that now when i have my phone connected via USB, it connects and disconnects itself, both when BitPim is on and off, so even if I did figure out what was going on, unless I can get it to STAY connected, I won't be able to do anything!)

I don't know what else to do. Give me some options. Maybe there's another stupid little setting somewhere that I've forgotten to switch too?

Hellllllp me please!

edited to add: I tried it through a website today, funformobile.com... sent the link to myself in a text through the website, went to the link through my phone, clicked 'download', it supposedly downloaded and i was able to listen to it, but I have no idea where it downloaded to, and I can't find it since that first listen. I don't really want to have to do my ringtones via web/txt message though, even though I'm sure it would end up being less than $3.50/ringtone... if it worked. Any thoughts on going *this* route?

If you want to use your own ringtones you'll need to do two things:
1. Get the ringtone on the phone.
2. Enable the 'apply as ringtone' option which Telus has disabled.

The best way would be to also enable the 'move' and 'copy' options so you can put the tones on your card, put the card in the phone, copy the tones from the card to the phone, and you'll have your ringtones. This involves editing SEEMs, and I don't know how to do that on a Mac or even if it can be done. Telus really wants that $3.50 per ringtone and they have went to a bit of work to make it hard to get around. Do some searching and reading on SEEM editing and see what you can find.

If you are already able to move the tones from the card to your phone, all you need is the 'apply as ringtone' option. You shouldn't need to use bitpim at all. Adding ringtones through the file system in bitpim won't work. It does work through the user interface though, and that will take care of correcting the .db files. So maybe try it that way. Now Verizon even blocks adding ringtones that way and there's another seem edit that needs to be done to open it up.

I thought that I was trying to use bitpim to delete those 2 .db files, and that would be what would enable me to 'apply as ringtone'. I can get the files on my phone already, they appear in the 'sounds', with all my other ringtones (and I imagine songs I added, had I added any), I just don't have the ringtone option like I have with the others.

I don't know what you mean by this...?

(also, don't know if it's relevant, but it's a CDMA, which was apparently why I couldn't use Moto4Lin which I thought would work.)

Right, it's a CDMA phone which is why you are using bitpim.

If you try to copy a file to motorola\shared\audio in the file system in bitpim, it won't work. If you click on media, then ringers, and add them that way, it will work unless Telus has blocked that avenue as well.
