UTStarCom F1000: A piece of junk? or am I an idiot?

I have owned my UTSTarcom WiFi phone model F1000 for over six months and have not made a single call with it. nor received a single call.
I have accounts with several VoIP providers such as InPhonex, Gizmo, Skype and SIPphone. Paid credits types of accounts. Should be able to get it to work but no one seems to be able to help me configure it.
At a trade show a few months ago, UTStarcom had a booth and about 15 reps there, and a couple of their engineers had at it with my phone; they contacted their HQ, downloaded stuff, everything that could be done, and they declared the phone working fine. It's not a technical problem with the equipment; it's a configuration issue, they told me. But of course they could not help me configure it, since that's the VOIP providers' job.
I have never actually heard of anyone else who owns one of these who's gotten it to work.
Is there any one on this forum who has one?
Am I posting in the correct forum?
