I can get the 3125 for 179.99 with a $150 rebate plus i have $100 credited to my acct, because they gave me the rebates without sending any in for the w810. which makes it like they are paying me $71 for the 3125, or do keep the w810 which i paid 29.99 dollars for with rebates and all included, can someone convince me why the w810 is that much better or vice versa, what would u guys do????

What you should do is goto the store and play with the 3125. There 2 completely different phones. Do you want a smartphone with 3rd party apps and a bigger screen and better internet browsing in a flip form? Or do you want a wayy better camera and a bit better music player?

Posted by: THETRUTH#34

Ive had smartphones and i do like the movie playback better obviosly, they can handle so many different files also, but i like the w810 for what it offers also, screen on 3125 is bigger and nicer, but the w810 screen is very sharp, i really look at rf, battery life first, i do like the 3125 form factor better, but im torn guess ill decide soon enough and the savings is a big part also, is the w810 worth $75 more.

Like Klamshellking said, they are 2 totally different devices. I love how compact the w810i is. I like how light the 3125 is, but dont really care for the oversized flip; almost makes it unorthodox to handle. I havent messed around with the 3125 much to see how the processor speed is on it. I'm thoroughly impressed with the w810i for what it's made to do.

Make sure you look at the rebates and qualify. I bought the 3125 and it wasn't until afterwards did they notice that the rebate had to have a $39.99 plan with a data plan (I think it was unlimited.. but I forget) so I took it back and now I'm using the w810i. I personally like the screen on the 3125 better, but the w810i is nothing to complain about. It's an awesome phone, and the menus are great... easy to learn and it's pretty fast.

Nooooo...all you need is the Smartphone Connect Unltd. Data plan that goes for $19.99mo. But, you do need a Cingular service plan that is $39.99 or more to qualify for the rebate. I went back and forth with the Cingular reps about this when I ordered my 3125, but they finally clarified the issue.

BTW, I was sent the 3125 (called to late to cancel order) and the W810i on the same day, at the same time. I am recieving a replacement W810i tomorrow that will hopefully have a louder earpiece speaker thant the one Cingular originally sent me. If it's not, it's probably going back. I was planning on returning the 3125 as well...but I'm not 100% sure about it now. I really like the phone, but don't need a smartphone really...so I'm kind of in the same boat THETRUTH#34 is in.

I guess u can look at it 2 ways, i dont always use all the features on a smartphone, but when i travel i love to have my movies with me on plane or be able to take certain files with u that the w810 just cant handle, the look of the 3125 is nice but ive never played with it really to say, like the buttons on the w810 very responsive, sony ui has always been good, rf on the w810 seems good so far and the earpiece volume did seem low today, was really first time i used it without bluetooth headset, and walking on a busy avenue in Queens newyork, kept pressing phone to my head to hear, camera is great, i still think the s710 produce just as clear pics for its size as the w810 does, just the w810 is 2mp, but still not taking any wedding phots with either exspecially at night or in a dim lighted area.

Glad I saw this thread. Guess that seals the deal for me. I was looking to get the 3125. Would be my first smartphone and really just a toy. I don't really need all that it offers (no need for email or internet), but would enjoy some of the other features. However, considering the rebate requires those plans that I have no need for, it's out for me I guess. Will have to look at 810i thought I much prefer flip and don't like the concerns raised here about earpiece volume.

Made the decision tonight to do the sensible thing: sending the 3125 back, only because I don't need the bells & whistles or the added $20 a month for a data plan that I probably won't use enough to justify it's existance. It would be a $300 toy to me...that is it in a nutshell.

I am keeping the W810i because it is a really great phone, and from what I heard tonight, a fix for the earpiece volume problem is in the works. There may be a new program soon that would allow the gain to be adjusted on it, like the K800i and other SE phones could be. So, I'm hanging onto either the phone I've had for a week (I have some wallpapers that I have paid for on it), or the replacement that Cingular should have on my doorstep tomorrow...depending on which phone has the loudest earpiece, and waiting for the time where I can make it perfect. Yeah, I still prefer a flip phone...but this phone is really a lot of fun, and has a lot of neat features.

Think im sticking with it also, love the phone and camera and music and accessories.

I had sent an email to Sony Ericsson technical support regarding the volume issue, and they sent me a reply tonight, saying that it was "how the phone was designed and cannot be altered". What they really mean is that they screwed up, but they are not wanting to raise the volume because some idiots out there would say that they had hearing damage from a loud earpiece an sue Sony Ericsson for the damages! It is a totally beaurocratic, CYA statement..but it's the truth I'm sure.

That's the same reason, to my way of thinking, that so many phones today are lacking in the earpiece volume area. The corporate attorneys that run any big business these days have probably said that if they didn't make the earpieces pretty low, then the manufacturers would leave themselves open for lawsuits and such. A load of baloney to me...but I can see their point.

I'll just hang onto the phone until a hack is made known, then I'll cast aside my phone warranty (useless anyway) and make it useable to me.

if there is volume control for the earpeice .......... nobody is sueing any 1

u did the right choice

Yeah, I'm keeping the phone too in hopes that the program will be available soon to make this phone perfect...higher earpiece gain. But, at least this one that Cingular sent as a replacement is better than the first one. Still not good...but better, at least useable in most conditions. The more I play with the phone, the more I like it. I will probably never store a single song on it, or use the Walkman capability (just not my thing), but as a phone it still is pretty cool. The UI is totally different than my usual Motorolas, which is better in some areas and not in others, and the RF is at least as good as the Razr so far.

The only real hassle so far is the need to set the automatic lock on the keyboard, so that it doesn't dial or go to another program when I have it in my pocket or in my belt case/pouch. Having to hit * then "unlock" before I dial out is taking some getting used to after years of a flip phone. Oh well...every phone is a learning curve I guess.

I'm at least glad that Cingular sent me a better phone, or I would have given up completely. As it is...this phone is a keeper.

good 4 u, nokias keypad lock is the reverse but with the left soft key, still getting used to it

FYI...I just called Cingular and double-checked to make sure that I did indeed get insurance on my SE. Turns out, the rep last night put insurance on my Razr instead of the W810i (glad I called!). But, after giving the guy today my phones IMEI number, I was assured that I now have proper insurance on the W810i.

Just hope the "today" rep knew what he was talking about. You never know.

The need for the unlimited data plan ($39.99 a month) to get a reasonable price on the 3125 made me decide against it. I've already got a BlackBerry and I can imagine taking away the e-mail and web capabilities of a smart phone would leave it feeling pretty "hollow" in use. The main draw of the 3125 was its sleek design and great screens. I also thought the GUI was pretty nice. None-the-less, I think a w810i will fit my actual use better.

Posted by: davistld01

I sent the 3125 back, and decided that the W810i was a wiser choice for me as well.

But...I was wrong about the insurance. The W810i is not insurable throrugh Lockline Insurance. Sorry.

1: You DO NOT have to get the $39.99 "PDA Unlimited Data" plan to quality for the rebate. The $19.99 "Smartphone Connect or MediaMax200"will work fine.

2: You ONLY have to keep it til your rebate is processed (2 months tops, I've never had a rebate take longer than 5 weeks) So even at 2 month's you'll still get a $110.00 profit

Posted by: iZero

But that's for the 8125, not the 3125 phone.

Posted by: Michael95GT

Sorry, I did all that after being up over 24 hours but what I said still applies. I just did the pic wrong.
