Anyone know FOR SURE that the 6500 case won't fit the 6590?

Even with a little modding to the top tabs? I just bought a 6590i, and am interested in getting a 6500 faceplate for it. The way I figure it, if you mod it like any other 8390 faceplate, file the tabs down, shouldn't it fit? Has anyone tried this?

When I tried to fit it, the top tabs were the only problem.

So, when you file down the top tabs on an 8390 faceplate, to make it fit on a 6590, how does it fit onto the 6590? What hold the faceplate onto the top of the phone?
