WAP settings for T-Mobile NL?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm trying to find the WAP settings for my unlocked HTC TyTN phone with my T-Mobile service here in The Netherlands. I have the T-Mobile package that includes the EUR 9.95/mo. Internet access.

When I try the Bluetooth tether instructions at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=713383, I get various error messages after the BT modem "dials" to connect. I suspect that the problem stems from me using the T-Mobile U.S.A. initialization string: at+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com".

I've called and e-mailed T-Mobile NL, with no luck so far. The customer service rep had no idea what I was talking about. Still waiting on an e-mail reply.

Would be grateful for any suggestions...

Hey, thanks. HoFo is pretty awesome.

I just figured out an initial solution, with a little (few hours) more trial and error. All I had to do was:

* In the modem initialization string, replace the WAP name "wap.voicestream.com" with "internet"

* In Firefox, Tools / Options / Connection Settings, check "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network"

* In Outlook, no changes needed to send/receive via POP3 (for me, anyway)

* In Yahoo IM, in Preferences / Connection, check "no network detection" -- I even tried out a Yahoo Voice call and it works fine, a little tinny but sufficient until I get home DSL setup in a couple weeks

Now the only problem is that my BT connection to my HTC TyTN drops every few minutes or so. I suspect it remains connected when there's activity but drops if it sees no activity for a bit - just speculating. I imagine there are other posts on HoFo that will help me troubleshoot that.

Well, there is one other problem -- I'd rather connect via USB, as other posts have suggested that's faster than BT. But for some reason when I try to install, Windows gives me an error that the .ini file that I copied over from my setup CD doesn't contain modem information. Weird.

Thanks, again, for your suggestion to look at the Pocket PC forums -- there's a ton of great info there!
