Hi, just wondering if there will be any modifications under the hood besides the 800 Mhz band GSM that will replace the 850.

The S55 doesn't do 850.

As far as I know that's the only difference... the s56 will not be a world fone. The only other thing I heard about the s56 is that it will function properly on the AT&T network... the bug that causes the s55 not to work on it will be corrected

I think Rogerrs would be eager to get it, because they seem excited about the launch of their GSM 850 network!

True...i was just thinkin if GSM 850 would be better, so i would have sold the S55 and got an S56...but screw that!

What u need to remember is in Canada the GSM 850 does us no good yet meaning the initial rollout will be in areas where you wouldn't really benefit from it so sticking with 1900 is your best now... plus if you gotta travel take the s55 with ya

The biggest difference is that the S56 is still not available even though it passed the FCC hurdles over a month ago.

Interesting point... I heard that it would be released in U.S. End of March or early May... that's seems to be the speculation with store pwners I have tlked to in the US

Also seems from the pictures that the s56 is entirely clad in blue, whereas the s55 has black that surrounds the display.

There are so many rumors and myths when it comes to the ellusive s56... lol The dealers I talked to in the U.S. were told that after a few months of the initial release of s56 they would be able to get them in 2 different colors aswell... but that is heresay no one knows for sure. Just pick up the s55 why bother waiting
