I am happy to report that I finally found a replacement for my RAZR. I looked at the KRZR and was not happy with it and I wanted a new form factor that was thin. I first went to an unlocked TRACE but hated the T-Mobile Branding.
PROS:
Customization: (not soft keys but the preset keys "Menu" and "Contacts" is perfect) You are able to customize everything that T-Mobile turns off.
Form Factor: Brilliant, a head turner. Stands out even more than RAZR.
Usability: A great overall experience. Easy to navigate menus.
Speaker: Loud. Speakerphone is loud. Reception is crisp. No complaints from people I call.
Sounds: Several installed ringers. Message sounds are great. Again, many additional options that are not included in the T-Mobile Trace.
Display: Bright with lots of options. Love it!
Tri-Band works great here in Pittsburgh. No problems. I highly recommend this phone. You will want to keep it. Also, please note this phone is thiner and lighter than a Trace.

I'm pretty impressed with my x820 so far too, though its not without its faults.
Pros:
The screen is simply beautiful. Its amazing how it uses the same size screen as the T509 except its rotated landscape, yet the phone is barely wider than the T509. While there are only two themes to choose from (dark and light), they are both quite fitting (especially the dark theme).
The phone is also amazingly thin and light, but i'm sure you already knew this. The keys are well placed and easy to press, and don't stick out. However, the D pad could have been designed better (its too flush with the center button).
Despite its size, it feels quite sturdy, and doesn't feel like you can accidentally snap it in half. It has a "quality" feel to it, not cheap at all.
The camera is pretty good at 2mp, and the video's also quite good with no time limit of recording. There is 80mb built in with no expandable memory, but 80mb is still enough for over 100 full resolution pictures.
Cons:
There are a few things I dislike about the phone however. While the reception is excellent, the call quality could be better. People sound hollow and robotic, not warm and natural. Don't get me wrong, the sound is clear and not muffled, but the voices sound painfully compressed and digitized at times. This is probably my #1 issue so far.
The phone while comfortable to hold in your hand, isn't so comfortable to hold up to your ear. This probably has to do with it being so flat, it just doesn't fit naturally against an ear. Also, because of its black color, the screen and surrounding plastics are a magnet for oils from skin, especially the face when you're talking into it. Be preprared to wipe this phone a lot!

how is the battery life on this?
i heard its quite poor.

Its not quite poor, but its not great either. If you talk a lot or don't want to be bothered with charging often, then this phone is not for you. I can get by with 3 days of light usage before having to recharge, but thats about it. If you play mp3's, watch video's, or use the camera often, it'll easily need to be recharged daily.

I have purchased the X820. The first one I could not get to charge so I sent it back. I was sent a replacement, but again I have the same issue. I think this is more than a coinicidence especially if you guys in the states are using it successfully. My phone does not charge. I have tried it in different outlets, but to no success. When you are charging the phone do you guys gets some type of display that it is charging like a battery indicator? Please help, because while I love this phone if I cant get it to charge I am going to have to go to another phone. And yes I am using the converter that comes with it for American outlets. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the x820 in SF, CA.
Compared to my fleet of Nokias, I was saddened to find the x820 didn't do as well in my "Vault Test", where very few phones if any can hold onto a signal. It struggled.
Pity. Such a nice little phone.
