V3C with wap on USCC, easier access?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have setup WAP on my V3C, I have an unlimited EE account. I can only access the WAP browser using ##BROWSER. Is there any way to add the browser to the UI, or the tools menu, or any part of the menu? It would rock if there is a seem edit or other way to change the UI.

Nope. The price you pay for getting internet without buying into the nWeb scam.

does the alltel firmware work with the v3c and USCC? And does the alltel firmware have a browser link?

The Alltel Firmware worked on my USCC v3c. I Bricked my phone and got the Alltel to load on mine.

But I am unsure about the browser link.

Alltel phones do usually have a browser button either on the home screen or in the menu (at least the ones I have seen).

I keep getting an error that the Network service is unavaiable. Is that USCC blocking the WAP?

I have the same problem. I do not have EE. Is that a must?

No. They cannot block WAP, as it appears to them as just more packet data. My guess is that you're in an area without good data coverage. While voice calls can be done on zero bars, a good data connection requires two bars.

You would have to be stupid not to have Unlimited E/E. USC charges one cent per KB of data use, with WAP you can easily get 10MB of use in an month. That's $100.

I have read in some of these forums that the free WAP only uses airtime minutes, though I don't know firsthand. I have free nights and weekends and thats really the only time I would use it.

That may be true for some carriers like Alltel but US Cellular is not one of them. US Cellular charges $0.01 for every KB of data transfered unless you have the Unlimited EasyEdge plan.

Would the Problem then lie in the flash I did to Altell on a uscc phone?

I have followed the free wap thread to the letter and I still get nothing on wap but the error msg. would a router cause the no connection then?

What about router configuration? I have all the 9201 ports open.

I do Live in a small town though. Have pretty decent covarage.

The other possibility is that you don't have all the settings right in the websession menu.

Regarding adding a browser icon on one of your menus so you don't have to type in ##broswer each time, you can edit your mma_dcp and mma_ucp files to add a browser icon to your tools menu. If you need to know how let me know.

I need to know how to find these mma_dcp and mma_ucp files please.
