My head's going to explode from not being able to make a decision!

I've done my research on the phone ends but I can't figure it out boys and girls!

The Sprint or Cingular choice is killing me too. Here's the story.

I can get either services for around 30-40$ a month after tax.
Discount on phones as well.

Now Sprint is great near me Cingular a little less great unless I have an Ericson or Nokia (SERVICE WISE). Like everyone knows, most verizon/sprint phones can't do JACK.

So Cingular has the great phones, but service wise if im with Sprint as long as I have a sanyo or a samsung I'll have descent service and FREE INTERNET with their vision plan. (Thing to keep in mind is the amount of availble hotspots on the outskirts of a city, so do i need the internet?)

With cingular their are so many phones to choose and so feature full.

SO THE QUESION.

Do I go with Cingular or Spring? (I know you've heard it 100 times and I gotta be the next idiot to ask someone to help me.)

I want something mp3 ringtone capable, or hackable. Camera phones are fun but not a must. But a loud speaker phone is important as is bluetooth. Candy Bar or Clam, I don't care.

Now for sprint can you even hack their phones? That's one thing I don't know.

Million thanks for an answer to this generic question.

Flip a coin. If cingular wins get the LG CU500.

I would defiently say Cingular. Overall they are the best way to go.

With Cingular you get Rollover. if you get the cheapest plan with Sprint, their 7pm nights cost you an extra 5, where cingular's only an extra 2.00. So really you cant argue that you get free nights at 7 with sprint, because you dont with their cheapest plan.

As I mentioned Rollover is great in the fact that I normally dont use all my minutes, but some months I do and its great to have the extra ones there just in case. Sprint doesnt offer that at all, not for any price.

Plus with Cingular you can the best phones. 95% of Sprints phones are ugly bricks, that cant do anything.

Cingular you can choose any phone you want from any GSM carrier and unlock it to use it with Cingular. I mean there are several phones for Sprint but 50x that with the amount of unlocked phones you can get. They have no restrictions and can do everything the carrier wants them and made them todo.

And for your phone requirments, the CU500 would be a good contender, but there are so many phones that meet your requirments, some of the phones that I can think of that are directly sold with Cingular with new contract that I can think of are the Razr V3i, w810i, the w300i, the Cingular 3125 (probebly the best phone for the money), and if you wanted a smartphone with a keyboard unlike the 3125, the E62 is suppose to be one of the best around. I played around with both the E62 and 3125 the other day at the store and I was very impressed with both, but chose to buy the 3125 over the E62 because it had a camera, and a more pockable design.

So I guess if your set on getting free internet, go with sprint. Thats about the only thing Sprint has over Cingular. Cingular is the best route.

Sounds like I can deal without the internet. Reception I forgot is the biggest thing of all.

And if would be nice to be able to make homebrew stuff which I think you can with sony? and or have free games n such.

As far as prices n such go, I think I'd get a contract through Cingular and get the discount so it would only leave me with their current phones unfortunately... but I hear good things about the w810i....

The memory card expansion is a must too. :P

Oh thanks again btw, Cingular just seems better and better choice for me.

ONLY thing.... is service isnt as amazing as it could be because I'm northern east coast, but as long as i think i get a nokia or ericson i've been told I should be ok.

I vote Cingular. They are the best. I like my phones uncrippled and like the ability to use unbranded unlocked GSM phones on their network.

Given that it sounds like everything else is the same, I'd go Cingular for policy reasons.

Sprint - anytime you change your plan, it's a new 2-year contract. Sprint also uses what they call "HLOF" (Handset Life On File) to determine whether you're eligible for a discount on a new phone. Basically in order to classify for a rebate, you have to have had that EXACT SAME PHONE (tracked by the ESN (serial number)). So if you're 6 months away from your rebate and your phone breaks, you borrow a buddy's old phone, now you're another 2 years away from your rebate. REAL STUPID.

Cingular - you can change your plan, add features, drop features, etc. anytime you want and it doesn't mean a new contract. Basically the only time you get a new contract is when you get a new phone. And with Cingular, you can swap your phones out as much as you want. If you wanted to use a different phone every day, you could, and Cingular doesn't care. You're still eligible for a rebate 2 years after you got your first phone.

I personally like Cingular better for other reasons, but if everything else is pretty equal, then I'd still choose them for policy issues.

Cingular. The motorola v3i is a good phone, using one at the time.

Ight thanks guys. Now I just gotta find this discount code using my work email.

Seems like the Cingular route is deffinately a better choice for me even though I did ask this question in a Cingular forum. :P

Really, Sprint's more innovative. Better, more robust data services, and cheaper. They have the text-to-anyphone thing, where if you accidentally send a text to a landline, for instance, it'll read it off to them, instead of just you getting an error. Kinda neat.

But like I said above, Sprint's policies are enough to keep me away. That and the freedom of GSM, I like to get new phones, and keep a backup, so I switch at least once or twice a week. That HLOF would kill me.
