Subtle Differences Mexico and Canada version Blackberry Pearl 8100

I actually had a chance to compare two 8100's, one made in Canada and the other in Mexico, side-by-side.
Although, they both looked exactly the same, there were some subtle differences between the two. The Canadian one had a brighter screen display than the Mexican one, probably because of different graphics card. The Mexican 8100 screen was a bit yellowish when compared with the one made in Canada.
Also, the assembly of the one from Mexico didn't seem that great, as when I tried to slide the sim in the metal cover lock, the whole thing got dismantled. Although no big deal, since it took only few second to put it back in its position, it gave me an impression of poor assembly of this phone or may be the entire production in Mexico, hard to say.
The track on the Mexican phone felt a little different, it was a little less free to move, with your finger, than the Canadian one.

On the other hand, I found the camera on the Mexican phone a little better than the one made in Canada.

I just wanted to post on what I found. I've no conclusion on which one's better.

Wow, I have had two Pearls, and I wish that I had checked the second one.

The first one was Canadian for sure, but I didn't check the second one before I sent it back.

The first one had great assembly. The second had a clicking keypad. When you depressed your finger, you would hear something inside come apart, and then the button would depress. It was as though something wasn't adhered correctly inside.

It also had terrible problems with the SIM door. It took the guy at T-Mo like 5 minutes to get it in because it wouldn't click. I played with it later, and it felt like crap.

Looks like RIM went the way of the VW.

I don't know how true this is but someone told me that the first batches of the Pearl were made in Canada and after that they were made in Mexico. I don't own one yet so I can't comment on where mine's made.

I hope this isn't the beginning of the downfall of RIM's quality.

The Pearl was my third Blackberry device. I have been a devoted fan for a long time, and it managed to dissapoint me so badly that exchanged it, thinking that would help. It didn't, so I took it back and now I have a freaking Samsung Trace.

Before my ordeal, I would have bet someone $100 that any Blackberry got better reception than a Samsung GSM handset. Good thing that I'm not a betting man.
