Does any one know if I get an unlocked 8125 and just use my existing cingular service ( old At&T sim card ) will by be able to use it for email and internet via wifi hot spots & home wireless networks. Cingular reps insist I need to get a data plan from them if I buy the 8125 from them and also claim that unlocking it will not do it. Thanks

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. I would think using wifi, you're not even going through AT&T/Cingular's network. I actually have an unlocked 8125 and and old AT&T sim card that is active until next month, as I had AT&T forever and finally decided to get a new Cingular contract without migrating (other factors involved). I'll check for you.

I just tried it and was able to connect to my WEP enabled wireless network here at work. I think Cingular's default answer is pretty much always no, as they want you to pony up the bucks for their service.
