hey ppls,

i was wondering how i could find out what version i have. i tried searching, but i couldnt find it. thanks

Posted by: JiggyJaggy

I think i have A17/19

some have A22...i want A37!

just reboot your phone.

Just after your PIN code, but before the carrier logo appears, just put *#9999#
The last # doesn't appear , it is normal.
Just wait for a few seconds, then, the version of your firmware magically appears within a lot of information... It is the number after the A (for example A16, or A19...)

Posted by: nokia7210

after i press ok? i cant get it to work... i also tried it without pressing ok, it jus lets me go into the phone...

Posted by: pilou74

you have to do that while the phone is searching the carrier.
just after the panasonic logo.

Posted by: nokia7210

ok i got it, thanks! i wish i had a panasonic logo, i got that dumb vodafone one.

Turn your phone off, then turn on, type *#9999# in the first 10 secs., wait a couple secs, version will appear. Note: the last# will not show.

Is this all you need to do?? Do you require to enter a PIN or anything?

What does "#9999#" actually do??

Posted by: noodlesoup

when i tried to change the fixed dial key..it ask me to enter an pin2 password..i tried 0000. but it doesn't work...anyone has any idea?

Posted by: JiggyJaggy

guys i had similar problem...if your trying to check software version using the *#9999# method make sure your phone lock code and pin code is turned off.

Type in the code before the phone connects to your network...ie when it says searching or equivalent.

Be careful, you screw up Pin1 or Pin2, 3 times you will need to get the PUK code from your operator. My default pin2 on my tmo account is 5678.

What are the know bugs with various versions of the firmware. I have A16. What should I be aware of?

Thanks

Guy

This allows you to view the different versions for the software in the handset. You should not need a pin or anything. Once in, you can use the scroll key to go down to view all the different versions in the handset. *#9999#

Be careful what you ask for. 37 has bugs of its own... Most of the upgrades at this point involve the WAP browser, from what Im told. I believe 38 is actually the newest, however also being debugged.Suggestion, sit back and wait.

Actually nobody found the program to flash the GD...so it's not possible to upgrade your phone to A38

Well, technically, it is possible. However the tool being mentioned is not publically available. Upgrades are already being done, just not in stores or by carriers at this time.

Posted by: lost_rebel

Then who is upgrading and how does the general public get theirs done? What version are you running now?

Posted by: The Joker

How about this??? http://geocities.com/djeilz/

Has it been mentioned before???

Posted by: CycloneFr

Seems to be a fake hope not!

Broken Links

Posted by: Confused69u

are there any differences in the A17/19/22??

i have an A19 dated Fri Nov 8 :P

Posted by: lost_rebel

Yes there are differences but I would suspect that you would need someone from pana to tell you what was fixed because there were no new feature put into that string of builds. I would suspect just bug fixes.

Posted by: pilou74

unless we have the A38, I don't think we can see the difference...

Posted by: SRi

This sux.....I still can't see which version I got....
I've tried that #9999# over and over again....and without success.....

when were the A38s released to the market??

That it is not the newest version. It has bugs but I do not think that anyone has posted a comprehesive comparison between A16, A19, A22 and A38

All I know is that the majority of issues were with the WAP browser. Most of the upgrades in in reference to that.

i just got a gu87. if i wanted to find out what software version i have, does the *#9999# work for my phone?

Posted by: ChocoDough

Me as well. I do the *#9999# and I never seem to get anything at all to tell me the Firmware version.

Posted by: nokia7210

you have to do it when it says searching for the network, the last # wont show up, but it'll come up

Posted by: Bazzer

See page one of this thread. You need to follow the instructions carefully.

Posted by: ducvader

GU87s are firmware version A38 so don't worry about it. YOu got the latest stuff possible so far. If the *#9999# doesn't work then I dunno what to tell you except that you should believe us when we tell you the version you do have! I want that A38! HUrry up pana darn it!
