GF almost got in an accident this AM. I can blame her driving, but in all reality, we shouldn't be driving on ice in April. Last week I was biking!!

Somebody somewhere is having a hardy laugh at our expense.

Is anybody working today? I didn't go to the office because I had to have a scan at the hospital. It is a glorified Xray, I think. Except for the nuclear material that they injected into me this AM.

I'm sure I'll still glow in the dark tonight...

Is Ted Rogers aware that large amounts of money are being funneled directly out of his payroll account into the coffers of several.....err....many, electronics resellers?

Dave

When I was in El Salvador and Guatemala a couple years ago, the only Spanish word I needed to know was "negro" -- because, of course, "Johnny Walker" needs no translation.

I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the clerk noticed I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete the transaction unless the card was signed. When I asked why, she explained that it was necessary to compare the signature I had just signed on the receipt. So I signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared the signature to the one I had just signed on the receipt. As luck would have it,
they matched.

Posted by: Ishimaru

LOL I never used to sign my card, and no one cared. I recently got a new card, and just to be safe, I signed the card. I think only 1% of people actually check. On my card, I have my picture on it, so unless I look significantly different, they wont check.

Posted by: mikewchandler

I meant to say that that was just a joke......didn't happen to me. Just thought it was funny.

Posted by: neo001

In my case every single freaking time I use a credit card they ask for ID , and they are always like on the look to see if there is something wrong with it (that is when I am not wearing a suit )

Without pictures we have no proof. Anyone could make that claim.

She said, " I've seen you in here before. " I said, " I've been here a time or two. " She said , "Hello, my name is Bobby Jo . . . meet my twin sister Betty Lou and we're both feeling kinda wild tonight and you're the only cowboy in this place and if you're up for a rodeo . . . I'll put a big Texas smile on your face "

I said, " Girls . . . " I aint as good as I once was I got a few years on me now but there was a time, back in my prime when I could really lay it down and if you need some love tonight then I might have just enough I ain't as good as I once was but I was good once ,as i ever was

I still hang out with my best friend Dave (smarter) I've known him since we were kids at school (not really when he was in high school I was in kindergarden ) last night he had a few shots got in a tight spot , hustlin' a game of pool with a couple of redneck boys , one great big bad biker man , I heard Dave yell across the room " Hey buddy, how 'bout a helping hand. " I said , " Dave . . . " I aint as good as I once was my how the years have flown but there was a time back in my prime when I could really hold my own but if you wanna fight tonight guess those boys dont look all that tough , I aint as good as i once was but I was good once,as i ever was

I used to be hell on wheels back when I was a younger man now my body says, "You cant do this boy" but my pride says, "Oh, yes you can" I ain't as good as I once was thats just the cold hard truth I still throw a few back, talk a little smack when I'm feelin bullet proof so dont YOU double dog dare me now 'cause I'd have to call your bluff . . .

I ain't as good as I once was but i was good once,as i ever was maybe not be good as I once was but i'm as good once,as i ever was

They were so impressed when I showed them my x7500, they beamed me up to their ship and took me with them. I even have pictures to prove it. Unfortunately I had to sign an NDA agreeing not to show them to anyone. They say that every time they allow it one of the tabloids gets hold of them and shows them to the world. It's not like they want everyone to know.......the next thing you know they won't be able to go anywhere without being noticed.

It’s all true. I was there and fortunately I didn’t sign an NDA. I don’t know if I was more surprised at seeing an alien or that Dave appears strikingly similar to Thomas Jefferson. btw, looks kind of like a black trinity in the alien’s hand.

To the teller down at the bank You're just another checking account , To the plumber that came today You're just another house , At the airport ticket counter You're just another fare , At the beauty shop at the mall Well you're just another head of hair , Well that's alright, that's ok . . . If you don't feel important, honey All I've got to say is To the world You may be just another girl, But to me Baby, you are the world . . .

To the waiter at the restaurant You're just another tip , To the guy at the ice cream shop You're just another dip , When you can't get reservations 'Cause you don't have the clout Or you didn't get an invitation 'Cause somebody left you out . . . That's alright, that's ok , When you don't feel important honey All I've got to say is You think you're one of millions but you're one in a million to me !! When you wonder if you matter, baby look into my eyes And tell me, can't you see you're everything to me

Well it was a bad day in Hofo land. First our beloved Urban had his Uni scoffed on him. Not a nice thing at all. Then later I had a ladder collapse on me while I was a step or two from the top. My side is all scrapped up and bruised. The prognosis, I'll live...the ladder is on its way to step ladder hell. Next I got into a fight with the uber-mods at PDAPhoneHome. I hate that site. I never realized till today that there were so many people who agreed with me on that...wow! It just makes me realize how lucky we are to have a guy like Mike, who is so incredibley fair, and willing to help people out, and not abuse his authority.... so anyway....life rambles on........Neo must have a fitting song for times like these...Neo.......

I agree. Mike is awesome. He got mad at me for inadvertently bypassing the curse-word filter (I honestly didn't realize I had done it) and didn't ban me. That was nice. Then I went and attributed that to his faith (being forgiving and whatnot), and I think he took it the wrong way - asked me not to judge him based on his faith (because I mentioned his avatar/signature).

So I say, publicly, SORRY MIKE - I didn't mean it in any disrespectful way!

Well you know those times When you feel like there's a sign there on your back that Says I don't mind if ya kick me , Seems like everybody has , Things go from bad to worse , You'd think they can't get worse than that And then they do . . .

You step off the straight and narrow And you don't know where you are , Use the needle of your compass To sew up your broken heart , You Ask directions from a genie In a bottle of Jim Beam , And she lies to you . . . That's when you learn the truth . . .

If you're going through hell Keep on going, don't slow down If you're scared, don't show it , And You might get out Before the devil even knows you're there . . .

Well I been deep down in that darkness I been down to my last match Felt a hundred different demons Breathing fire down my back , And I knew that if I stumbled I'd fall right into the trap that they were laying, yeah

But the good news Is there's angels everywhere out on the street Holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet , The one's that you've been dragginig for so long , You're on your knees You might as well be praying

Guess what I'm saying is that If your going through hell Keep on going, don't slow down If you're scared don't show it You might get out Before the devil even knows you're there

For a little while I used to do my day job, go right home for a "disco nap," get up around midnight, go to the clubs 'til 3 or 4 a.m., go home for another short nap (or, if I'm running later in the morning, just a quick shower) and head back to work. That got old after a couple years.

I'm boring. I go to bed when the street lights come on. As for when I was younger, ,well, I don't remember the years between 1972, and 1985. Did anything important happen then?

I hope this isn't for the MARRIED hentai woman.

Posted by: Ishimaru

HAHAHA, nope, I've been a huge fan of anime, and jdrama's for the longest time. My goal is to know enough so I wont have to rely on subs I say I know about 5% so far :P I only know some words, and a couple phrases.

Posted by: Evaluator

You must know about this site then:

http://d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php

My wife and I sub some of the kdramas. We're TeamP2.

Posted by: Ishimaru

Oh yes I haven't seen any KDramas but I'm an avid watcher of jDrama

Posted by: richy240

Ok, I'm totally lost.

Yeah, still lost... Not something I've really been exposed to.

I'm more into Dirty Harry dramas. I understand the language. "Make my day" "In all the excitement did I fire 5 shots or 6?" "Feeling luck, punk?"

I wish I could get those little burgers down here in Houston. We can get them in the freezer section of our local grocery store, but frozen burgers suck. I want the real thing - I've never had them, but I hear they're great!

And, I JUST RECEIVED MY Blackjack! Ok, I haven't actually received it yet, but it's waiting for me at my office... (I know this is the PPC forum, but I warned you all I'd be leaving for a couple months in favor of a Smartphone.)

You'll be back, they ALWAYS come back...

You're allowed to stay (so long as your posts are on-topic, of course). You don't want to be completely out of the loop when you return to Pocket PCs in, oh, four to six weeks or so.

I'm sure most of you have tried the BlackJack or Excal but for me I'm stuck on the BlackJack. Yes I like PPC better than SP(still) but like I said before the formfactor(and qwertybar design) of the BlackJack is marginally trumping the OS. It's been since Nov~Dec and I'm still using it full time...

I've been trying to drink a lot of water since lunch. Seems to be helping. We'll see in a few hours.

In this thread he's only allowed to stay if his posts are off-topic.

Posted by: mikewchandler

correct.......off topic please!!

Posted by: Dave Evans

Ok, this is where I get confused....what is the topic? I don't want to mention it by mistake, and accidentally find myself on topic.

Posted by: mikewchandler

there's not one......just don't mention anything that makes sense and you'll be fine

edit: crap! that made sense.

Posted by: neo001

Is this a country song?

Posted by: Ishimaru

If it were a country song, it'd have the singer cry about losing his girl, his truck, AND his dog, all in the same song!

It would seem that the BJ's condition was misrepresented, and I'll be sending it back. The seller and I could not come to an agreement so I guess I'll be sticking around for a while...

And don't you mean off-topic? I am pretty sure there isn't been any continuity between a page or two of this thread yet, though I haven't read the entire thing yet.

That being said, I WANT A NEW PHONE! But I can't find one I want. Any ideas? My req's are PPC, 3G, scroll wheel (if possible), and completely awesome.

I was thinking of a Treo 750 (sorry Neo) but it doesn't have a scroll wheel... Hmm...

Oh yeah, and the Kaiser is out of the question until the price comes down a little.

Posted by: neo001

nope it was no song just posting randomly . . . I got nothing particular to say

Posted by: mikewchandler

are you sure it isn't flammable?

anyone else waffle back and forth on a daily basis on which PPC to use? Some mornings it's my S200, some mornings it's my ipaq 6945. Decisions decisions.

Yep, I go back and forth between the Nokia E61i and the HTC P4350. If I need to use Slingbox, the HTC goes with me. If I intend to surf a lot and/or read an e-book, the E61i goes with me

Posted by: Ishimaru

I used to switch off between my TyTN on the weekdays, and the K790 on the weekends. However, I don't really want to use the K790 anymore, so I'm just using it for A2DP, as it blows away WM phones out of the water!

I got my BlackJack yesterday. I much say, I really like it, BUT PPC is SO much better. I miss the touch screen

Posted by: nextel1996

Has anybody else been getting on here lately and saying to themselves, "Where in the heck is everybody?"
Or have you guys been doing what I've been doing...checkin' in regularly but finding there just isn't too much going on right now worth posting about???
How about a roll call?

Posted by: JwY

It's kind of slow so not much posting. It's like the eye of the storm before the next wave of devices are released. That or a lot of people are on vacation or are trying other devices.

Posted by: Ishimaru

I'm here all the time, but I'm at work for most of my awake time, and by the time I get home, I'm all tired, and just want to chill.

Posted by: riDuh7

Oh man... I have not been posting for this forum for a long time, and first thing I remembered when I logged-on today was this thread... hahaha

I'm so glad this thread is still up and alive. This is a great thread for people like myself to just say a few word that's got nothing to do with the phones we love or own... Ha... I feel great to be back here again.

Again, keep the thread going!

Posted by: richy240

So what's with these speedtest.net bandwidth results in people's signatures? No offense, riDuh7, but I don't get it.

"Look at how much bandwidth I don't use!"

Posted by: Ishimaru

Trust me, I'd use that bandwidth! I wish I had FiOS 50mbps down, 15mbps up

Posted by: richy240

How would you possibly use 50Mbps down? I mean, I download/stream A LOT of music and video, and I can generally download it faster than I can watch it so I just queue it up and go about my business - and I've only got 3Mbps down. VOIP maybe? But that doesn't require THAT much bandwidth, just QOS.

Maybe I should try a faster connection, but I must admit I have no complaints about the 3Mbps connection I've got now.

When you are downloading big files like movies, and etc....

I have a 8Mbps Cable Internet service by TimeWarner/RoadRunner and I get max of 1.2Mb/sec and it typically is very useful when I download a HIGH-DEF video file that is around 9~10Gb a pop. I wish I have a 50Mbps service to then I would get around 7+Mb/sec...

Haha, I just did that because I saw someone was doing it. LOL Does it bother you? Oh well, Like I said, I do use the full bandwidth most of the time so......

Posted by: riDuh7

Also, I was just reading this thread from the beginning (just a few pages), and reminded me of the fried bean thingy... if anyone can recall..

I just had to have a good laugh. LOL!

Posted by: mikewchandler

man....I can't imagine reading this whole thread at once what a random mess
