XV6700 - Disable the PHONE?

I have the Verizon XV6700 with their PDA/Smartphone Unlimited DATA plan. I don't use the device for the PHONE, only data.

I've had it for a few months now and have made a number of accidental phone calls. Usually by stuffing the device into it's holster while still viewing an email. It'll then hit the exterior "send" button enough times to make a PHONE call to the person who sent me that last read email. (from the information in my Contacts). Since I don't pay for a voice plan, all my phone calls are $0.25 per minute. I contacted Verizon and the only option they offered me is to "disable incoming/outgoing PHONE calls", but that costs $6/month.

Is there any way to totally disable the telephone in this device while keeping everything else working as intended?

You should be able to go into the Comm Manager at the bottom of the screen and turn off the phone

That's not an option because that also deactivates the PPC's ability to use Verizon's EVDO for data.
