Why does my Verizon Wireless banner disappear?

Well, I got a V3m on Tuesday and I'm liking it a lot so far. I ordered a cable for it so I can maybe do a few seem edits. Anyway, I was messing around with the camera, viewing the picture on the external screen with it closed for a few minutes. I saw the background with the time and date flash which I thought was weird but didn't think anything of it. After I was done messing with the camera I noticed the Verizon Wireless banner wasn't there, not on the external or internal screen. I restarted the phone and it was back, but only for a few seconds, then it went away again. What's going on? I know a lot of people like not having the banner and honestly I was going to delete it when I got my cable in, but since I haven't done anything yet, is something wrong? Should I get it looked at?

Sometimes my phone does that, although mine doesn't say Verizon Wireless (I a Chicago Bears fan so of course my phone says Chicago Bears instead, lol). The banner usually reappears (for me anyway) after a few seconds.

Hmm, weird. Mine finally reappeared the next day, but that was hours and hours and many reboots later. It hasn't gone away since then though.
