Is it better to ride low or high on thin tires?

I got performance tires for my car.
Its lower though. This is my third tire that im changing.

So is it better to ride low on these tires or raise the car up?

For comfort, higher profile tires.

For better cornering, low profile tires.

Lower series (smaller) tires = more road feel.

Also = feeling more bumps and ditches in the road :P

also less skidding and tire squeal, and you can corner at a respectable speed without worrying about your tire falling off

By thinner, I'm guessing you're saying low profile/smaller sidewall. It's a given that tires with smaller sidewall has less to flex, and thus, the car handles better. Of course, you'll feel the bumps a lot more.

i KNOW THAT, but should the car be higher or lower.
Yes i am riding on low profile tires, but should i raise the car to feel less bumps.

wouldn't this depend on your shocks and springs too?

I think that it would look really dumb if you raise the car up. What kind of car is it, what size rims and tires do you have ?

please specify car/model wheel size/tire size and a side photo of the car.

if i recall he has a civic?

Posted by: ajponu

I am guessing he would want some different springs to raise it up a bit.

if you go low profile, you're supposed to get a sidewall size that matches your OEM wheel/tire combination or else your speedometer will be off. so if you get low profile tires, your car shouldnt be any lower than it was before

yea i have 96 civic.
it has 17 in wheels and the tires are 205/44 if i remember or something like that i forgot.

Yes it has springs, i raise the back up about an inch, so i might raise the front up an inch too just to feel lesser bumps.
It was pretty low when i got it.

are they coilovers? you say you raised the back, so unless you got springs that are an inch taller you have some sort of coilover. if its a real coilover the reason why you say you are feeling more bumps may be because of the dampening settings, try softening it up

lower profile tires...IMO should be on a lower car. You dont need to lift the car up. Just get a camber kit, that will lengthen the life of your tires.

there is more to a suspension then just coilovers. camber kits to straighten out the wheels and to get more of the rubber on the floor, sway bars for real cornering, and bushings to ensure that the joints aren't getting killed by having a lowered car.

44 series tire for a 17 in. rim???? drop that down to a 40 seriers tire, your ride will look sharp.

If he has the Groud control coilover "kit" he should raise the car up because you adjust the ride height by putting more or less load on the springs effectively changing the spring rates. Higher on GCs is softer and lower is stiffer.

yea , the coilover i have, i can adjust it, just wondering if i should raise it a lil just to lessen the bumps that i feel on the road.

Depends on how you like to drive your car, whether it's just a beater that you get around with, or a car with a sporty feel is dependent on you.
