Im considering this phone, i have a cell card now, i like it but the laptop eats power in the car like nobody's business.

I need this mostly for Mapquest and getting emails from my secure office website.

Thoughts, ideas, concerns?

Help me out before i spend a ton of money

I picked up a 8125 Today... The length is almost the same size of my Razr and still amazed on how everything is neatly packaged in this device, for instance if I place my Razr (closed) and sit it on-top of the 8125 it almost covers it.

Not sure if I'm going to keep it the full 30-days (highly-doubt) because the new PPC Phones will be out in the near future. Cingular 8525 and Treo 7xxW models. Also, my SX66 is still faster regardless if I overclock my 8125 to 252MHz.

I am extremely happy with my 8125. I use it daily for email and browsing, and use a bluetooth GPS to navigate. The only downsides to this phone are the processor speed and Edge. If you are seriously considering a PDA phone, you might want to wait for the 8525 if you are in a 3G area. If you are in an area that won't see 3G for a while, I can wholeheartedly recommned the 8125. The only suggestion I would make if you buy either of these models is a good screen protector. I got a Cleartouch Crystal screen protector from BoxWave, and it was definitely the best $13 investment I have ever made.

once someone gets past the learning curve the 8125 is the best phone cingular carries right not. and if the 8525 can prove reliable that torch will soon be passed on to it.

from what I have heard .. it's an truly amazing phone ... and it's successor 8525 will be even better ..

I've had mine since the week it was on the premier site. Good phone. Great PDA. Sliding keyboard is really starting to bug me. Device is also quite fat. Slow processor is annoying, even at 240-252mhz. Too many bugs that I don't want to spend hours fixing at this point. I'll be getting the Treo 750, might give the 8525 a try too, but Treo form factor + WM5 = best combo for me. I had a Treo 650 and loved the design, but hated POS.

The form factor isn't any worse than the other PDA/phone combinations...

If you've got an itch for a Pocket PC phone, check out the 8525 or the TyTN. They're the up and coming devices, and the 8125 is kinda outdated because of this. The CPU problem is solved in this device, as it carries a 400 mhz processor... That should be enough for now.

If you're on a budget, the 8125 should be good depending on what you've got in mind for it.

For me the form factor is one of the selling points. I have tried the Treos, and the tiny keyboard I find almost useless. I would much rather have a keyboard the size of the 8125. As far as the processor, the 8125 is a good tradeoff between speed and battery life. It's not a Ferrari, but it also doesn't zip through the battery. Besides you can overclock it, and sacrifice battery life.
