Can't we all just get along? The Nokia 6030 story.

We get so many customers coming in here with Nokia 6030 phones (bought somewhere else) that have accessed the internet by accident. These are mostly elderly customers who usually hit the 'Media Mall' shortcut key which is programmed by default into the right shortcut key. We then have to call and get them credits for their $1.79 in media net usage.

We always re-program this key to something more useful as 99% of people buying this phone don't use media net. Can't we all (as sales reps) take the 10 extra seconds it takes to change the shortcut key when it can be changed and its appropriate?

I used to do that when I sold Motos (v180 or v220). They had the left one set for MEdiaNet and the right one set for AIM. What a recipe for disaster, you know? First thing I did was set all four directions and the softkeys for the customer. Took 10 seconds, like you said, and they were impressed I cared, and I dind't get them back in the store complaining 2 months later.

Yes we should all get along so why is it next to the talk button that you hit by accident. I call it the money Moto button because is wasn't like that on an old Nokia(push and hold), now I think it may be a CinulMoney button. With AT&T is costs(before you can cancel) a lot more than you would think at 3 cents PPU.

I always take those phones and reasign the right soft key to received calls. Make the back screen white so they can see it, turn up the ringer and most importantly on this phone or the 6061: TURN UP THE VOLUME...apparently this isn't in the book because people always come in asking about this.

Well thank you turning up the volume, the default IS way to low on the 6030/6061.

I always point this out to the customer and help them set it up to a reasonable volume, since I have to deal with a ton of customers that buy it from someone else and they come back to return it because they think it's defective. Even though it's clearly stated in the manual, some people just don't want to deal with reading up on it... which is fine since it's an easy fix.

Does anyone know how to turn up the ear volume on this phone. It's impossible for me to hear anything unless I'm in a silent room. Thank you

While in a call, the directional pad controls this.. however right is volume up and left is volume down rather than the logical up and down.

Yeah, it's a little quirky - but it ties in with the bar graph showing volume level on that era of Nokias. My 6560 has the same. Up and down activates the contact list, just like when not in a call.
