R1C.02.03 Software Update Repercussion on i860

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey All,

So I did the latest software update for my i860. I'm no stranger to doing updates on phones. This is the first time I've experienced a problem. After I did R1C.02.03 update, my camera wallpapers no longer cover the entire screen. They are now tiny pictures in the center. The only wallpapers that were not affected by this are the default ones. What happened and how can I fix this????

I searched the forums for this topic but I didn't come across it so I apologize if I missed a thread on this.

Thanks!

his has been stated before. It has something to do with how the update makes the phone handle .jpg* files. It makes it compress them more. Convert your wallpapers to .gif* and upload them and it should look like before.

Unfortunately that was one of the first things I did and it doesn't work for me because my phone is set up to only use wallpapers directly taken by the phone. I haven't bought any programs that allow me to upload my own wallpapers. I hate the i860 and don't want to invest any more money into it. Can a service center fix this problem in some way?

EZBOY360,

You'll find the latest firmware files at http://www.motorola.com/iden under "PC Software."

A data cable is required to upgrade your phone.

pardon my sarcasm, but turning on the err/channel will do absolutely NOTHING. err/channel is accessed through a hidden menu. it displays current tower information. some ignorant and naive people believe it has magical effects on phones. if you want to learn more (and laugh at the simpletons) do a search. but remember, it does nothing except provide technical info about the current tower the phone is using.

To turn on err channel
press #*(menu) and the right direction keypad button
in a fast sequence ur in trace mode
scroll down to err channel hit ok and turn it on

weather or not it works idk i think it does becase whenever im in an area without signal(my school) i turn it on in the corner where the bars are located it says "searching" my phone beeps and whatda ya know i have service. But many people dont believe this and say they read up on it if you call NEXTEL they will probaly tell you it does not work but ill do it anyway it gets me service

THE HELL WITH THE NON BELIEVERS

How Does One Put Old Firmware Back Into I-860?

I ran a search for R1C.02.01 from Yahoo. When the results come back(those pointing to the iden/motorola site), click on "cached"; the at the top should be an option for looking for previous versions of the current page. Unfortunately, I can only find R1C.01.01. I don't know if restoring the phone to that version would actually do more harm than good. Hopefully, Motorola will come out with a fix for the R1C.02.03 bugs in the near future. Yeah, right.
