(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey guys,

My sis bought a Katana and I'm trying to send *.mp3 files to it via bluetooth, it's a no go.. I can send contacts from the phone to the computer and that's about it.. Is what I'm attempting even possible?

thanks!

No its not, at least for now. Only because Sprint got Sanyo to lock that feature along with anything else the Buletooth would be capable of doing so users would be forced to use Sprint's Vision to do those things. Kind of shady huh!

I purchased a Katana today, and was wondering the same question. I'm currently with the cell phone provider Aliant, and I was wondering if theirs a way to find out if they blocked it the same way you guys are talking about Sprint? I'm in NB, Canada. Thanks.

Just try to send stuff to it from your computer using the Bluetooth....you'll find out real quick if its blocked or not.

You can push vCards from your computer to the Katana. I haven't been able to do anything else with it though.

Yeah, I've experimented with it also and came to the same results. I'm reaaally hoping they will give us a way to transfer songs and images to the phone some way without having to download them via paying off sites. I'm already surprised that a brand new Sanyo phone like this is almost so ancient with its gadgets and features. I mean, using bluetooth for data and just to send vCards? Anyway, if anyone knows a way around this please share. I'm a big fan of how the phone looks and works, but it would be nice if I'd be able to at least put my own midi file or something on the phone. Cheers.

As far as ringtones...I've found that d/l'ing .wav files (I use nextpimp.com for ringtones) and using ToneThis to send them via text works great...I've done about ~10 ringtones by this method and have had no problems.

Don't have to go through the hassle of converting them to .qcp files, either.

What settings are you using on the wav files? Same as for Nextel phones? How about the old "change .mp3 extension to .mid" trick?

Question about your method - I d/l my wav, I get the textmsg on my phone, which has a download link to my wav, but I can't seem to find a way to save it. Maybe you can clue me in on how to save the file?

I had this problem as well.

For some reason when it opens the text on it's own when first received, you cannot use hyperlinks, at least it seems to me.

Just exit out of the message, and go to menu->messaging->text->inbox and open the message, now it will allow you to open the file in the browser and save it.

I keep them in the same format I d/l'ed them, seems to work so far.

I'm able to access the link, but when I select download it simply plays the song or shows the wallpaper - I still dont see a save link. What am i doing wrong?

That's weird.

When I open the text, it lets me select the link sent in the text and opens it up in the web browser.

Once in the browser it comes up with the following:

"Tone this

Please click the link below to download your ringtone DOWNLOAD
Please remember to save the ringtone after downloading. The link to your ringtone will expire after 1 day."

Then, I select download, and it saves it to my ring tones.

My katana is through qwest but I'm assuming the restrictions are no different.....

So If I have a QCP ringtone on my computer or a picture can I not just send it through spirnt focus with the phone number like I do for my 8400. I just got my friend a Katana that is why I am asking..

when i try to download the files i get the following error:
"error 907
invalid content
404 not found"
could anyone else experienced this problem?
