eBay buyers beware : GSM Unlimited

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Against my better judgement I bid on a P990 on eBay from a seller named GSM Unlimited. Talk about a nightmare. They've repeatedly lied about having shipped my phone, failed to provide a tracking number, are inconsistent in responding to emails and phone calls and have been generally rude when they do. This seller hides behind vague language and slippery logic. Avoid at all costs.

Posted by: shockdaddyd

UPDATE: Alas, two weeks to the day I received a full refund for the P990 I bid on with GSM Unlimited on eBay. It took multiple phone calls, multiple emails and a claim filed with PayPal but it's been corrected. Talk about a pain in the neck.

whoa..i bidded a few p990 from them..luckily i didnt win

Did you say "call"? I cant even find a phone number for these jerks. Took forever to get the phone and its not working like it should. Any help in locating a # would be appreciated. Thanks so much

I've long since parted with that information. But, if my memory serves, I found the phone number on their Square Trade account profile.

The way I got them to act was filing every complaint I coiuld -- with eBay, Square Trade and PayPal. Then I called, called and called -- leaving many messages. Also, I spammed them with as many complaints as I could muster.

They're scum.

I wish you luck. Please report back on what happens.

Just remembered one other thing...

I found the name and phone number of the web designer that built their eBay pages. Some crafty sluething helped -- maybe it will work for you as well. That person has a phone number in NYC as well.

Or just request the user info from ebay!

Posted by: mikesbaby99

Thanks for the info. I found a phone number but when we called the mailbox was full. ( full of complaints Im sure). We filed a complaint with ebay. I hope that shows some results. Thanks for all your help.

They aren't always cooperative in such matters despite the fact that they should be. When I purchased a P990i From this same seller, eBay gave me the middle finger. Since that experience I won't be buying expensive items off eBay any longer. There's too much fraud and eBay doesn't give a rip.

In my case an eBay comlaint did nothing to help. It took a complaint with PayPal and a payment dispute along with several (as in forty or fifty) phone calls to get action. They said they'd return my money if I withdrew my complaint. The underlying message being they're getting hit with a lot of fraud accusations -- mine included -- and aren't liking the heat.

I found two phone numbers for them and I called them both. If I were you I'd stay on these guys. They won't come to you and their 'service' is the worst I've seen on eBay.

Good luck.

Posted by: mikeginsd

I read these posts too late, but I've had the same experience. Can we approach ebay and/or the seller en masse to get this stopped?

Posted by: shockdaddyd

eBay won't do anything. Being a pain in the arse and filing complaints is your best option. The PayPal request for a refund was my most effective tool.

Posted by: mikeginsd

Too bad about ebay...seems their rep isn't being enhanced enough to off set all the $2.50 fees this guy must be paying...

Posted by: elissabflo

These guys are scumbags. The phone did not work upon receipt. I emailed constantly for information on how to send back. After a month, I initiated a complaint through Paypal. I got my money back. I even kept my end of the bargain (what I had promised in my offer through Paypal) and left neutral feedback. These guys left negative feedback for me. I responded on my account. Then, they responded on the very last day they could - so I could not respond to their second comment. Totally scummy!

I'm going to be contacting the attorney general's office about these guys.

Posted by: shockdaddyd

Sorry to hear about your experiences with GSM Unlimited. As you now know, they're less than ethical.

If I were you I'd forget the Atty General. Truth is the AG is every bit the scum bag that GSM Unlimited is. Also, since in the end there was no financial loss, they won't do anything. You'll just get your blood pressure up. Trust me, I did the same.

It says that it's your first post and you are GSM_UNLIMITED......

Posted by: shockdaddyd

I stand by my earlier posts -- GSM Unlimited is not a company to do business with. Their customer service is terrible, they are unresponsive and they are rude. No other way to put it. I was lucky to get my money back and will never bother with them again. It's just not worth the hassle and BS.

Posted by: Yourmaster

Holy sh*t. Just looked them up on ebay out of curiosity:

Ratings mutually withdrawn: 675

20 negative feedbacks in the last month.

These guys are bad news.. staying away.
Thanks OP!

Posted by: tkao2025

Sorry Yourmaster but I think most people agree on this forum GSM is not the way to go. I've never dealt with them, but they do look bad if those are the stats.

If you don't work or get paid by them you sure are working hard for them....maybe they should pay you...cheers

I can claim one of the mutually withdrawn feedback items. Can anyone else account for the other 674?

wow then i guess since you withdrew your feedback the problem you had with GSM wasnt all that bad huh ? whatever happen to sticking by your guns so they say ? most prople like your self post negs only to have the company offer them something in return like a shipping refund or free accessory ..this is way i stop selling products on ebay --i gave it a shot but the public are animals who dont read auction info and dont look into what they are buying and another thing i just checked there feedback what about the 21857 positive rating if your going post something at least post it right

Posted by: tkao2025

Yourmaster why are you registered on this forum only to talk about GSM_unlimited Do you not have anything else to contribute? If you look on their feedback page, every single page has a negative feedback.....that's not so good. For example x1387 has a lot of negative feedbacks as well, but you'd have to go back at least 10pages or so to find one.....Are you sure your not GSM_Unlimited

First, allow me to point out the 'quote' button. It's commonly used to quote earlier posts.

Second, you assume much that you clearly do not know.

In a nutshell, I ordered a P990i from GSM Unworthy and paid within minutes of the auction's end. Two weeks later I still had no phone despite the fact that I had paid for overnight delivery. I emailed GSM Unworthy repeatedly, scrounged up their phone numbers (from PayPal, Square Trade and eBay) and left multiple voicemail messages and never heard a word back.

When it became apparent I wasn't going to get anything remotely resembling customer service, much less my phone, I initiated a claim against GSM Unworthy. Within one hour they suddenly became concerned about following through with the auction. They called me immediately with a BS story about not having any working units in stock (then why were they posted for sale on eBay???).

At that point they had my money -- hundreds of dollars and I had shiit. They said they'd immediately refund my money if I agreed to retract eBay feedback. Looking like the only way I could get those scum fookers to make good I took the offer and came here to post about my pathetic experience with that poorly run company.

You are obviously related to that company in some way. I can tell you I've received many PMs on this site among others. Those PMs were from people who had considered buying from GSM Unworthy (you) but changed their minds after hearing an honest review of the "store."

Again, I stand by my earlier posts -- GSM Unworthy (you) are dishonest and slimy. I would discourage anyone from buying from them (you).

You can go ahead and say what you will about my experience. In the end people will see the number of posts you have and the venom in your uneducated posts only to discern that you are a representative of GSM Unworthy. IOW, troll away as your must, little man.

We all know the answer to that question.

To all who venture here please excuse my rant. I love the HF community and have been a proud member for some time. I dislike seeing scammers come here and flood the forum with BS. Hence my posts.

Yup we do.....it's just amusing for me to keep at him until he admits he is Really instead of spending time reading and posting here, maybe he/she should try to reply to some of those complaints.

I could not agree more.

If only, if only.. I read these posts before buying from GSM Unlimited. Although my "ordeal" wasn't all that bad, I most definitely will never buy from them again.

Awww... yourmaster didn't respond anymore??? What a shame because I was looking forward to his BS response... LOL

Thanks for he headup OP!

i ordered a phone from this company about 2 months ago. the phone itself was about $75. and the shipping was $20. so i spent $95.

they sent me a phone completely in spanish. the box, users manual, warranty, everything. with no way of changing it to english. the box even says "mexico" not "US"

i sent them a complain and they told me to return the phone (another $10 in shipping & handlong) and they would replace it.

so i get a package in the mail...and it is the exact same phone they sent me before. not just the same model....but the same handset.

so i send them another complaint....and they tell me i need to email them pictures to prove that i recieved the wrong handset....shouldnt they have a record of what they send out?

i sent pictures. and they replied with "we clearly stated that the users manual could be in a language other than english" ...umm okay. the manual i can understand. but what about the WHOLE ****ing phone?

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM IN STORE OR ONLINE

mxochihua:

I would encourage you to take the route of an azzhole. File complaints with eBay and Square Trade. Not to mention PayPal. Hitting them in the wallet makes all the difference in the world.

Wish I had saved the info but, via Square Trade and the PayPal profile, I was able to find a phone number at which I could reach them. It took me a couple weeks but I got a full refund.

Hang in there and please report back.

I bought a phone from them a month ago.
The Auction said Unlocked. It was not.
After complaint to eBay, ( ), and Square Trade, ( ), well, you guys seem to know already...

Finally, after & $157.00 out of pocket, I left Negative feedback & started a PayPal complaint.
Next morning, I get an email offering a refund (minus shipping) if I remove the feedback.
Now it's a matter of principle.
I bought another phone. Wish I had found this site first.

Now, get this...
the email had the following address & phone #

Customer Support Team
GSM Unlimited, Inc.
34-23 Steinway St.

Kind of threatening huh?
Guess I'm not supposed to reveal their address/Phone to anyone.
I'll keep that in mind.

dont remove feedback. go look and see how much of their feedback has been "mutually removed"....i wish i would have seen that first.

I purchased a Nokia 5300 cell phone from GSM Unlimited, through EBay on 12/27/07. It was advertised as a brand new phone on Ebay. Payment was made to them through PayPal. I received the phone on 1/4/08 and it did not work. I could make and receive calls but noone could hear me. I called my mobile service, T-Mobile, and took it to a T-Mobile store and they determined the microphone did not work on the phone. Additionally, I could tell the battery was used, not new, because it had teeth marks in it. I contacted GSM Unlimited by email on 1/5/08 to find out the return procedures. They emailed me back on 1/7/08 outlining the procedures I had to follow in order to return the phone for a full refund. I followed these instructions to the "T" and shipped the phone back to them on 1/8/08, via UPS. Someone from their company signed for the package on 1/11/08. Since then I have been trying to recover the money owed to me. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I have 26 separate email communications between myself and this company since I purchased the phone. I have done everything in my power to get the refund. I have been clear with them from the start, that I want a refund not a replacement phone. For some reason they kept giving me the runaround and shipped me a replacement phone. I did not accept delivery. I did not sign for this phone.

I have been explicitly clear from the beginning that I wanted a full refund not a replacement phone. They sold me a broken and/or used phone when the Ebay auction stated it was new and tested!

Then I post negative but accurate feedback on Ebay and now I receive another two emails trying to bribe and/or manipulate me to remove the negative feedback. They will mail me "free gifts and no cost to myself", if I remove the feedback. They will mail me a replacement phone or refund the $, if I remove the feedback.

I have since disputed the charge with my credit card company, opened a dispute in Paypal, and reported them to Ebay for "feedback manipulation".

DO NOT BUY FROM GSM UNLIMITED. It is one big nightmare and headache.
