Question about PIN and MicroSD for Pearl

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I got 4 questions...please help

1) If I bought a 2GB micro SD card, how much video can be stored. For example, would I be able to store a full length movie (say 90 min)?
2) If I bought a bluetooth earpiece, can I watch a movie with it or is it for making phone calls only.
3) I noticed that there seems to be 2 types of PIN. One of them is just like an email. The other one is more like instant messaging where u see the chat history as u type. Do either of these cost money or use up data? How much?
4) Can u make happy faces icons when u PIN in the IM mode?

Thanks.

-You can store as much as 2GB on the 2GB MicroSD card. Depending on compression and what not you can squeeze a bunnch of stuff be it movies, music, etc...

-Bluetooth headsets are for talking only. The Pearl does not support A2DP

-Pinning uses miniscule amounts data therefore comes off your data package

- When you send someone a pin you cannot use emoticons however since BlackBerry Messenger works off of pinning you can use emoticons w/ BlackBerry Messenger.

Compression has a lot to do with space on your micro sd. I've seen full movies in .avi format at around 250mb. That's a handfull of movies on a 2gb card.

Thanks for the reply.....Can u tell me how to use emoticons on BM?

If you want to use emoticons while using BlackBerry Messenger you can find all the included emoticons in the menu where you find the symbols.

On the 8700 you can just type them -- i.e type : ) -- or hit SYM twice.

the new 8130 supports A2DP but I can only get it to play music, not movies... does anyone have any suggestions on making it work? that was the whole point of getting the stereo headset so I can watch movies while waiting instead of playing games.

The 8130 does and with the newer 8100 OS updates you can listen to music also. Earlier I noticed that it says it doesn't... then I looked at the date of the original posts and realized it's quite dated and at that time the OS didn't allow for it.

As for the movie and A2DP issue this not only a Pearl issue, I've noticed this with other BlackBerry devices also. Hopefully it'll be resolved down the road with an OS update.

Yeah... I didn't want to ask a question that has been posed already, searched and found this thread, it's quite old, but didn't want to double up.

So basically I'm screwed for now until RIM decides to make this possible. You'd think that since Video goes through the Media Player it would work just like Music....? That's why I was curious if it might be a setting that I hadn't found.
