KRZR/RAZR Memory

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: I want a KRZR

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up getting either the KRZR or "Product Red" when they come out. My next issue is memory. Is there a limit to the size of microSD card (and type) you can use? I've found a 2GB "microSD", compatible with TransFlash devices. Is this the right type of card for both phones? Is it too big?

ALSO,

How exaclty does the memory work? What is it used for...What can it be used for. How do i get ringtones to play off of it, my music, photos etc.

I heard krzr reads only to 1gb

officially they use only up to a 1gig but people have posted that they are using a 2 gig.

I thought I've also read K1m users post that it won't see more than 1GB of files on a 2GB card.
You'd think we'd have a clear answer on this - it isn't like it's too hard to test.
Doesn't everyone have a 2GB card? I do, but I don't have a K1m.

I read in the USCC K1m official thread that up to 1GB could be used for music and the remaining memory could be used for pics, video, etc. I also noticed that the person posting the "answer" in the official thread is the same person who asked it here. Humpa since you don't have a k1m send me that card and I will confirm or deny these findings. PLEASE

I never offered to send my 2GB card. But feel free to send me a K1m and I'll test it.

Hi, newbie here:

I have a V3m and just purchased a 2gb Sandisk. I put it in the phone, it formatted fine BUT it will only recognize 1gb. It says, after formatting:

Label: T-Flash
Type: TRANS
Space
-Free 988992
-Used 996032
-Total 1985024

I've tried it a couple of times, and this is all I can get.

That's correct.
I don't think there is a Motorola CDMA phone yet that supports the 2GB card.

use the memory card for photos, videos, and music. you can put a higher capacity memory card into either phones, but it will not read more than 1 GB. you can transfer photos and videos on your phone to your card memory, and vice versa. the v3m only plays wma and the krzr can play mp3. you cannot set music stored on the memory card as a ringtone on any of the newer verizon phones, mainly the ones that has the red tabbed menus. you cannot transfer music from the memory card to store on the phone. that means you have to GET-IT-NOW in order to get additional ringtones.

put the memory card in the slot, and your phone will automatically create folders for music, video, and pix. transfer photos from your phone to your card, and you can view the contents when you read the card from your computer. (no more picture messages to your email in order to get your images/videos!)

music can be put stored on the card and read by the phone in much the same way. store it on the card in the appropriate folder and it will play on the phone.

i hope you got your verizon phone for the reception because verizon makes it hard for you to use alot of their media features, unless you're ready to pay $2.99 for a 15 second clip of a song.

i have a krzr k1m with sprint and my phone has a 2 gig mem card and recognizes all 2 gig

my only prob is getting my music formatted so i can put it on the mem card....so far ive only been successful in getting about 20 songs

Where do you put the memory card in K1m?

my friend has the phone and wants to put the card in i was not sure where it went

in my gsm krzr its above the sim card but in the k1m i cant figure out where is goes

can someone tell me?

the phone is from verizon

It's in the battery compartment below the battery. There is a guard over the slot that flips up and the card can then be inserted by pushing it to the left, looking down at the phone with the battery door off.
